  • Patent number: 6202217
Abstract: There is disclosed a device for the protection of objects or body parts against vibrations, in particular a vibration-damping glove or antivibration glove, including at least one vibration-damping layer. In order to realize such a device, which causes noticeable damping of vibrations even in the low-frequency range of vibrations (31.5 to 200 Hz) and, in addition, remains maneuverable to the largest extent possible, at least one vibration-damping layer, on its surface facing away from the object or body part to be protected, includes indents for decoupling movements in at least one direction in the plane of that surface. The indents, on the one hand, cause the vibrations oriented in the plane of the surface to be deflected into the interior of the layer, thereby enhancing the vibration-damping effect, in particular in the low-frequency range. On the other hand, a high degree of movability of the vibration-damping layer, and hence of the overall device, is ensured by the indents.

  • Patent number: 6199211
Abstract: An ergonomic hand, wrist and forearm supporter useful for prevention of injuries caused by repetitive motions while handling implements has a flexible glove body. The palm portion and back portion of the glove body are joined together so as to define a first opening for receiving a forefinger, a second opening for receiving a little finger, and a generally central third opening for simultaneously receiving the middle and index fingers, as well as a fourth opening for receiving a thumb. The palm portion includes a protective padded overlay secured over an area corresponding to a palm's heel area. A plurality of durable protective stays substantially parallel to each other and spaced apart a predetermined distance are transversely secured to the palm portion generally between the palm's heel area and the distal end of the glove body. The stays are capable of flexing for accommodating a hand grabbing an implement.

  • Patent number: 6185747
Abstract: A glove and method of making it. The glove has a thumb portion and four finger-receiving portions and is knitted of fibers, e.g., cotton, polycotton, Kevlar®, rendering it flexible, but susceptible to wear. The palmar side of the glove includes plural patches of a wear-resistant flexible material, e.g., polyvinyl chloride, applied, e.g., silk-screened, metal screened, etc., thereto in a flowable state that it intimately bonds to the fibers. The patches on the palmar side of the glove are arranged in a pattern defining plural palmar flexure lines between immediately adjacent patches. The plural palmar flexure lines are arranged to be located over and substantially aligned with the respective crease lines of the hand of the person wearing the glove, such that the person may readily flex his/her hand without the patches interfering with that action.
