Abstract: A garment, and methods of using the garment, including a main body portion, a collar attached to the main body portion, and a hood attached to the main body portion adjacent to the collar. The collar includes first and second flaps that define a collar pocket. The hood is moveable between a non-deployed position where it is received within the collar pocket and a deployed position where it is not received within the collar pocket.

Abstract: A garment for drying the hair and body simultaneously, and a method to use that garment. The garment may include an article of clothing to dry the body, such as a bathrobe or the like, attached to an elongated hood. The elongated hood may envelop and secure the hair to facilitate the drying process. Furthermore, the elongated hood may be detached from the garment. The garment and elongated hood may be made of a water-absorbent material, such as terry cloth, to aid in the absorption of moisture from the body and hair. The garment is useful after bathing or swimming to dry the hair and body while securing the hair out of the wearer's way.

Abstract: A protective hood, such as a firefighter's hood, has a scalp section, nape section, left, right and throat section, through which portions of a wearer's face are exposed. The scalp section and nape section are made from a heavier insulated fire resistant material, whereas the left, right and throat section are made from a lighter insulated fire resistant material.

Abstract: A one-piece hooded scarf, comprising a tubular neckpiece having a top end and a bottom peripheral end, the neckpiece having openings or channels for breathing produced when made from a material elastically deformable in two axes; and, a hood connected at the bottom peripheral end of the neckpiece to leave the top end of the neckpiece free thereby allowing introduction of the neckpiece over the head of a wearer. The hood can be permanently connected to the neckpiece or detachable. The material of the hood can be the same or different from the neckpiece. The hooded scarf can have a tail or a chestpiece which can incorporate an open or secret pocket. The neckpiece can be of variable height to enable it to cover or uncover a lower face area, ear and nose of a wearer.

Abstract: A dorag head covering of one continuous piece of material including opposite tie straps extending sideways out from a front region for being tied around the head. Since the dorag is made of one continuous piece of material, its front region is smooth and seamless. With no seam in the front region of the dorag, no seam line impression forms in the hair after the dorag is removed. The rear region is formed of two flaps seamed together at neighboring edges to form a cap. The blank for forming the dorag is described and a method for forming the dorag from the blank is described.

Abstract: A personalised cap (10) for use with a protective helmet is disclosed, having crown and brow portions (12, 14). The brow portion (14) is removable independently of the crown portion (10), and an alternative brow portion (14?) is provided for use when a environmental protection hood is to be worn under the helmet. An alternative crown portion (12?) also may be provided. A hood for use over a helmet and a hose for use to provide air to a respiratory mask, a mask and fittings for attaching a mask to a helmet are also disclosed. The environmental protection hood may comprise a manifold (412) having an element external to the hood, for receiving supply of services needed within the hood, and an element internal to the hood, for providing those services where required.

Abstract: A hunting and sporting garment includes a means of concealing a user's face comprising a hood, a face covering, means for attaching the face covering and the hood so as to form the concealing means, and means for storage of the face covering. The garment further includes a lower portion having a crotch opening between the leg portions thereof, extending from the waist in the front of the lower portion to the waist in the back of the lower portion wherein the crotch opening is capable of being closed by a closure means.

Abstract: A convertible body armor and carrying bag includes a first panel and a second panel. Each panel has body armor material incorporated therein. A pair of shoulder straps is provided, each having a first end secured to the first panel adjacent a first edge of the first panel, and a second end secured to the second panel adjacent a first edge of the second panel, with the shoulder straps spaced apart from each other by a space that corresponds to the distance between an adult human being's shoulders. A removable attachment mechanism removably attaches the peripheries of the panels in a manner such that the panels and the attachment mechanism together define an interior storage space when the attachment mechanism attaches the peripheries of the panels, and the panels can be worn as a body vest with the shoulder straps supported on an adult human being's shoulders when the attachment mechanism does not attach the peripheries of the panels. A weapon can be stored inside the interior storage space.

Abstract: The modified head covering has a cap portion that resembles typical head caps, as well as a pouch portion attached to the rear of the cap. This head covering allows a user having long hair to safely conceal his or her hair within the pouch portion at the rear of the head covering. The pouch portion can be cinched tightly into a “sack” or “pouch” shape through the use of a ribbon, an elastic band, or other devices. Once the pouch portion is constricted, the hair is safely concealed and kept off of the nape of the neck. The head covering can be made of a variety of fabrics with a number of patterns or colors. The modified head covering is particularly suited to medical personnel working in sterile environments, but it is useful for anyone with long hair who must conceal his or her hair inside a cap.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to articles which may be used as headwear for infants that address issues related to flat head syndrome. In a first aspect, an article of headwear for an infant is provided. The headwear is configured to reduce pressure at the rear portion of the head when the infant is lying or reclining in the supine position. The headwear generally includes a head receiving portion having at least a top region and rear region for covering at least the top and rear portions of the head of the infant. In accordance with the invention, the headwear also includes support cushion positioned in the rear region of the head receiving portion. The support cushion is configured to support at least the rear portion of the head of the infant and to at least partially surround a pressure relief region.

Abstract: An air flow deflector for use with a hood-type hair dryer is a thick, resiliently compressible, unitary halo with an inner perimeter of length suited to surround and abut, preferably with tension, against the subject's head when the halo's inner perimeter is contoured approximately immediately below the subject's hair line. The halo deflects the flow of warm air away from exposed skin portions of the head, neck and shoulders and has an arcuate upturned extension on its front portion for deflecting air flow back to the interior of the hood of the dryer. In use, the halo is slid downwardly against tension over the top of the head of the subject to a position at least below the hairline and preferably resting around the neck and on the shoulders of the subject. After setting, the halo is slid upwardly and contoured to approximately immediately below the subject's hairline.

Abstract: A tubular length of fabric has a plurality of V's cut on each end. A first end is pulled inside the fabric tube, the V's of the first end are aligned with the V's of the second end and the peripheral edges of the V's sewn together. A hole formed in one layer of the fabric forms the means to covert the garment from a closed-topped hat to a cylindrical tube which can be worn as a variety of garments including a neck gaiter, a face gaiter, an open-topped hat and a head band. The method of making the garment is also set forth.

Abstract: A head covering system includes a hood connected to a head covering apparel by a fastening system so that the hood moves with the head and does not block side peripheral vision. In one embodiment fasteners are provided for connecting the hood to the bill of a cap. Such fasteners include snaps on the bill and the hood, or a hook and strap fastener that is positioned across the base of the bill proximate the users head. The hook and strap fastener may be detachably attached to the hood using fasteners such as snaps, or the strap may be an elastic strap permanently attached to the hood, preferably disposed between layers that form the top of the hood. A draw string cooperates with the fastening system to position the hood in a desired position and onfiguration.

Abstract: Shown is a detachable head covering unit for use with a generally rectangular patient rescue bag with an open head end and one part of a two-part quick connect/disconnect fastener device that extends proximally to and along transverse edges defining the open head end. The hood includes lower and upper substantially planar portions having inner surfaces, outer surfaces, perimeters each with an attachment portion, the attachment portions including a mating part of a two-part quick connect/disconnect fastener device that extends proximally to and along an edge thereof. The upper and lower portions are secured to one another along substantially their entire perimeters except at the attachment portion of the perimeter. A face opening is provided in the upper portion and the opening extends to and intersects the edge of the attachment portion such that separate parts of the edge are releasably secured together to form a substantially continuous attachment edge.

Abstract: A cap and cap extension. The cap is a standard cap and includes an incorporated visor. The cap extension is attached to the rear section of the cap and is designed to cover an individual's neck when the individual is wearing the cap. The cap extension includes a design that provides utility in both preventing sun exposure to an individual's neck, while at the same time, being able to flap about in a light breeze.

Abstract: A towel adapted to be wearable over the head with a wearer's cap or hat to protect the head from unpleasant weather conditions such as cold, wind, dust and ultraviolet (uv) rays. The towel has an opening dimensioned to receive the crown of a headgear. A size adjustment means attached to the edge of the opening enables to releasablely secure the towel body onto the headgear. The body portions determined by the opening when the towel is worn comprise at least one horizontal portion which is wide enough to cover a visor or a brim and at least one vertical portion which is long enough to drape at least over the shoulder. The horizontal body portion is capable of expanding coverage outwardly from the wearer's head along the visor or the brim, and the vertical body portion is capable of increasing coverage downwardly to the upper body.

Abstract: A plurality of panels. Each panel has a leading and trailing edge with side edges. Each panel has a central section with side sections. Forward and rearward triangular sections have apexes formed adjacent to the side edges of the panels. Coupling components are attached to the apexes. The coupling components are adapted to be coupled at any of a plurality locations with respect to a head of a wearer.

Abstract: A head covering is formed having a full size hood portion coupled with a magnetic closure structure in the overlapping layers around the neck. The bottom of the head covering, located in the user's neck region, includes two extensions, one on each side of the hood portion. These extensions may be elongated so that they overlap and surround the user's neck. The two extensions are attached by a two-part magnetic closure. The fabric drape is such that the head covering keeps its shape. The magnets may be firmly set in place. This closure may be located off the center line of the hood which increases the ease of use and decreases the likelihood that the closure will open accidentally. The closure, extensions and drape may be designed so that the fastening is quick and easy, without the need for the user to look into a mirror, or be in the light, or use both hands. In another preferred embodiment the hood portion of the covering may be retracted to a position off the head without unfastening the closure.

Abstract: A garmet has a hood with an inside front base and a pair of lower front hood portions each having upper and lower projections projecting toward the other lower front hood portion and a securing device connected to each of the projections for connecting the lower projections to each other across a user's face and respectively above and below the user's mouth so that a recess is defined of a size to expose the mouth. Abstract: A hat member has a lower rim with a scarf attached thereto which extends between the temple areas around the back of the head. The scarf has and eye edge proximate the lower part of the eye sockets and extends from there to an area proximate the juncture of the neck with the torso or trunk. The scarf is loose and has folds under the chin so that a coat or other outer garment can be positioned and closed there over without restricting movement of the user. The scarf extends from the rim down proximate the nape of the neck to protect the back of the head and he rear of the neck. The hat member has a crown into which the scarf member can be positioned and stored while the hat is being worn. In turn the scarf may be moved between a stored position in the crown of the hat member and a deployed position removed from the crown and deployed over and about the head of the user.

Abstract: An enhanced mask system including a mask portion, for covering the nose, mouth and lower face of a wearer. The mask portion has an inner surface for being closer to the wearer and an outer surface for being further from the wearer. A head covering or balaclava is secured to the mask portion and a pocket secured to the inner surface of the mask portion removably contains the head covering or balaclava when in its secured position. The mask can be worn by the wearer either with the head covering or balaclava on the wearer's head in a deployed position or without the head covering or balaclava on the wearer's head and stowed in the pocket in the secured position.

Abstract: A dickey with head cover is disclosed. The dickey with head cover includes a hat capable of covering at least a portion of the wearer's head, and a dickey. The hat releasably attaches to the dickey. The dickey includes a shoulder yoke portion attached to the dickey to form an integral torso covering. The invention may also be used where the head cover is attached to a gaiter. The invention may also relate to attaching a gaiter to a head cover.

Abstract: A headmount apparatus for mounting vision enhancement equipment thereon which is comprised of a mounting shell having at least one pad and having at least one mounting surface to which the vision enhancing equipment is mounted, where at least one pad is configured to contact the user's head. The headmount apparatus is also comprised of at least one elastic strap which is attached to the mounting shell for securing the mounting shell to the user's head. The headmount apparatus for mounting vision enhancement equipment thereon could alternatively be comprised of at least one mounting frame for attaching vision enhancement equipment, at least one hardware mounting surface for accepting the mounting frame, and a hood configured to fit over a user's head where the hood is made at least in part from an elastic material and which contains the hardware mounting surface.

Abstract: A head covering commonly known as a skull cap in which the ‘tail’ extending from the back of the neck is fashioned into a pouch with an elasticized opening. The user styles his/her long hair with a ponytail, applies and secures the skullcap, and then inserts the ponytail hair into the ‘tail’ pouch. It may be worn under a helmet or hard hat. It has three functions. During windy outdoor activities or while riding in an open vehicle such as a motorcycle, boat, ATV, snowmobile, or convertible automobile, it contains the hair protecting it from the elements which soil the hair and from movement which tangles the hair. In an industrial environment, it effectively contains the hair to prevent free hair from falling forward and obstructing a worker's vision or entangling in machinery. Thirdly, in medical or food preparation industries, it contains the hair preventing contamination.

Abstract: A thin, stretchable chemical vapor protective garment worn next-to-skin is disclosed. The protective undergarment is made of material that stretches and is capable of efficient elimination of air spaces between the undergarment and the user's body, thus enabling the user to wear other operational clothing over top.

Abstract: A head-hair cover comprises a body defining a chamber and an opening in the body. The opening has a peripheral edge and permits communication between the chamber and outside of the cover. An adjustment mechanism is provided at or near the peripheral edge for selectively varying the dimensions of the opening. Additionally, a constricting band is provided and associated with the peripheral edge for gently crimping at least a portion of the peripheral edge.

Abstract: A retaining system for the hood, face seal, and mounting band(s) of facemasks that have a hood and/or a face seal that are sealed and securely mounted to the mask using a band type of clamping method, is provided. Abstract: The present invention relates to protective fabric that protects first-response personnel, like firefighters, who rush into disaster areas immediately after such events occur. In particular, this invention relates to garments such as hoods (like a balaclava-shaped hood) made from a multi-layer protective fabric that includes at least two active layers, that may provide biological, chemical and fire protection to first-response personnel. The balaclava-shaped hood may be integrated with a protective mask to create fully-encapsulated protection. This protective fabric may include an inner layer, an active middle layer and an active outer layer. The inner layer may be comprised of a stretchable fabric. The middle layer may provide an adsorptive barrier to chemicals, such as terror agent, Mustard gas or other such agents. The outer layer may be comprised of a flame-resistant fiber-product.

Abstract: For a firefighter, a combination of protective gear comprises a face mask, a head harness, and a protective hood adapted to cover the wearer's head, except for at least a portion of the wearer's face, and to cover an outer perimeter of a window portion of the face mask. The protective hood is attached to the head harness, preferably to flexible straps of the head harness, so that the protective hood is attachable to the face mask, along with the head harness, and so the protective hood is detachable from the window portion, along with the head harness.
