  • Publication number: 20030009815
Abstract: A device for preventing make-up and other materials from rubbing off onto sweaters and garments that are tried on by customers before being purchased. The present protection device is in the shape of a hood that covers the entire head, including the face, of a wearer. The protection device includes a rigid support in the back and an inexpensive semi-transparent material in the front. The rigid support provides structure to the protection device making it easy to handle, protects the hair of the wearer, and prevents hair gel and other material from being transferred to garments. The semi-transparent material in the front allows the user to breathe and still be able to see, so the wearer can locate armholes and other important areas of the garment. Attachment straps are used to secure the device in place around the wearer's head. The present hair and garment protector is preferably made of inexpensive materials so that the protector can be a disposable device.

  • Patent number: 6371116
Abstract: An air-impermeable hood having first and second substantially airtight seals adapted to encircle a portion of a wearer's body below the head, typically the neck. Continuously exhaled air from the wearer of the hood is channeled between the first and second seals pressurizing a space there between creating a continuously pressurized purge zone to the introduction of ambient air into the hood. When the pressure in the purge zone exceeds the resistance of the second seal, air taking the path of least resistance flows out of the second seal. The effect is that exhaled air from the wearer creates a pressurized barrier against ambient air yet also prevents the accumulation of excess carbon dioxide and moisture within the ocular area.

  • Patent number: 5958535
Abstract: The invention makes it possible for a traditional decorative element for expensive embroidered luxury materials namely fine bugle beads, i.e. very small tubes of glass or glass-like other materials, which are conventionally either sewn on directly using complicated hand work or in the form of pre-formed fine bugle beads strung on a thread which is stitched in time-consuming manner, for example using single-head Lorraine sewing machines, to the supporting material, to be manufactured with virtually the same quality but in a simple manner without involving manual work. For this method use is made of a narrow film formed from a multiple layer laminate of different synthetic or natural materials in such a way that during a subsequent treatment, e.g. a heat treatment, the material starts to curve in a pre-determined direction bends up and finally curls and assumes the shape of a bugle bead. The narrow film is applied to the substrate by conventional sequin embroidery techniques.

The off-center viewing aperture provides a pilot wearing the IFR training hood with an asymmetric field-of-view, which allows a pilot using the IFR training hood to view an entire instrument panel, while excluding outside visual references. The IFR training hood can be implemented by single-piece construction, or by two-part construction using hook-and-pile type fasteners, or other suitable fasteners, to connect the drape to the headpiece. A two-part construction allows retro-fitting the IFR training hood to a pilot's cap or visor.
