Trunks Patents (Class 2/238)
  • Patent number: 6243880
Abstract: The present invention teaches novel athletic shorts for male and female wearers that permit relatively unrestricted flexion and extension of the legs, and distention of the abdomen during breathing. The preferred athletic shorts can include an anterior side having a superior edge forming a V or U shape, and retention means substantially consisting of non-stretchlastic material. The athletic shorts can include a preferred range with respect to minimum width in the area between the openings for accomodating the wearer's legs, and also an area of differential elastic and stitching near the point of minimum width. Further, the present invention teaches athletic shorts that permit the male reproductive organs to be substantially suspended naturally. This is believed to lower the temperatures to which the testes are subjected thereby increasing the rate and quality of spermatogenesis, and to facilitate greater heat dissipation. Further, this characteristic is believed to facilitate optimal thermoregulation.

  • Patent number: 6161222
Abstract: An athletic garment with protective guard members on the inner thighs. The garment preferably will be compression shorts or pants. The guard members are supported in pockets formed on the inside of each thigh portion of the shorts. The guard member preferably is adapted to both deflect impacts and to absorb shock from impacts, particularly from balls in sports such as baseball. The guard member preferably is formed of an inner flexible, hard plastic deflective layer and an outer flexible, shock absorbing foam layer. Thus, the garment of this invention is particularly suited for use by a baseball catcher and the other infielders, but will be useful to athletes in any sport. This protective garment will reduce the discomfort and injury caused by the impact of a ball or other equipment or objects employed in virtually any sports activity.

  • Patent number: 5010596
Abstract: A garment is provided for improving physical conditioning. The garment is formed with shorts having thigh encasing leg sections extending downwardly from a waist to surround and resiliently conform to the thighs of a wearer. A plurality of pouches are defined in each of the thigh encasing leg sections and are spaced laterally apart about the front, rear and outer thigh areas of the leg sections. A plurality of solid plastic encased lead weights are deployed and gripped within at least selected ones of the pouches. The leg sections are preferable secured about the legs of the wearer above the knees by adjustable belts located in hems at the lower extremities of the leg sections. The conforming nature of the garment and the way in which the weights are snugly gripped in the pockets ensures that the weights do not move relative to the wearer's skin, and do not bobble or shift as the wearer runs or engages in other physical conditioning activities.

  • Patent number: 4894867
Abstract: A bifurcated trunk with thigh length leg portions, each terminating in a lower extremity, has closure structure to tighten the lower extremity. The closure structure can include a slit extending upwardly from the lower extremity and defining first and second sides of the leg portions on respective sides of the slit. Structure is provided for fastening one of the sides of each leg portion to the other. The fastening structure is preferably cooperating hook and pile surfaces, one on each side of the leg portions. The closure structure of the invention is also useful on other types of garments. Padding is provided in the rump area to protect the buttocks against scrapping and bruising. The padding preferably extends a distance into the leg portions where it is influenced by the closure structure so as to retain the flexible padding in a protective position protecting the buttocks and thighs of the wearer even during strenuous sports activity, particularly sliding into bases.
