  • Patent number: 4394781
Abstract: A swimsuit consisting of swim trunks and also, if need be, a corresponding bra, which is improved both esthelically, as well as in its method of making, is made of form inserts which are covered with fabric. The form inserts are in the form of U-shaped clamps so that only the pubic bone and the coccyx are engaged. The form insert for the bra forms cups, each of which encompasses the corresponding breast by more than about two thirds. The swim trunks, as well as the bra, may be simply attached to the body portions to be covered. The fabric cover of the form inserts may consist of any given material. An advantageous feature of the inventive swimsuit is a minimum covering of the body, which still conforms to the ethical national laws, while simultaneously having a maximum esthetic effect and, finally, affording a very economical way of making.

  • Patent number: 4310929
Abstract: Disclosed is a pair of reversible, wrap-around shorts particularly suited for use by runners or joggers. The shorts have two panels sewn together so that the outer surfaces of the panels are finished surfaces. The outer edges of the panels are folded over toward the opposed panel and are sewn so that the edges of the panels are both disposed inwardly and are captured between the panels thus producing a finished appearance to both sides of the garment. When spread out on a flat surface, the shorts have an hourglass shape. The upper and lower edges comprise the waistband while the narrow inner portion comprises the crotch. Each panel comprises at least two sections. In the preferred embodiment, the panels are produced by sewing together the respective U-shaped inner edges of a pair of horseshoe-shaped sections. The resulting hourglass-shaped panel has a contoured fit when worn. The waistband is typically provided with an adjustable, quick release fastener.

  • Patent number: 4294257
Abstract: A halter top which is made of non-stretchable or slightly stretchable material is provided for sports use, e.g., as a jogging outfit for females. The halter top consists of the combination of a body encircling portion constituted by a discontinuous panel having a pair of free lateral edges and cooperating means at the free lateral edges to hold such free lateral edges together and means for adjustably securing such halter top to the upper chest portion of a female body by means, e.g., of shoulder straps which adjust the distance from the breasts to the top of the shoulder. The body encircling portion includes a pair of breast receiving and supporting cups including a vertical seam bisecting each breast cup, the preselected variable, but permanent, location of said vertical seam thereby providing preselected different cup sizes. The top edge of the breast receiving and supporting cups is so curved as to follow the natural incline of the breasts.

  • Patent number: 4145762
Abstract: Swim trunks formed by a piece of fabric contoured to define a waist and a pair of leg sections, the fabric having a side seam extending between the waist and the lower end of one leg. The seam is interrupted to form a slit whose edges are secured to the complementary tapes of a zipper and to the sides of a pocket. The inside tab serves to open and close the pocket when it is pulled inside out to function in the reverse state as a carry bag into which the trunks are stuffed. One side of the pocket is provided with a pair of eyelets through which a string is looped, the bag being held from the string in the reverse mode of the pocket.
