Abstract: Multisectional hosiery having a plurality of various sections is connected by elastic attachment materials on each section in an overlapping manner. The multiple detachable hosiery sections allow the user to mix or match hosiery sections, or change the number of hosiery sections, to accommodate fashion desires, changes in clothing or a run in a particular hosiery section. The result is a versatile multisectional hosiery system which allows a user to use some of the various sections in many different combinations.

Abstract: A double-layered sock according to the invention includes an inner sock made of a moisture-permeable material such as polypropylene and an outer sock that absorbs such moisture. The inner sock is interposed between the skin of the foot and the absorbed moisture, providing enhanced warmth and comfort. The inner and outer layers are secured together, such as by sewing at the toe portion of each to form the double sock.

Abstract: The appearance modifying garments include appearance enhancing color differences creating a new type of garment which promotes an improved appearance of the wearer through the formation of apparent marginal edges on the garment itself. The apparent marginal edges provide the outline of a shapely appearance and are formed by darkening areas of the garments so that they appear smaller or less noticeable to the eye when the garment is worn. The shapely portion stands out and the darker shaded portions are less noticeable and there is a distinct demarcation between the light area and the dark area so that the viewer's eye is drawn to the shapely portion of the garment.

Abstract: An open toed, ventilated crotch, panty hose garment, adapted for wear with swimsuits, exercise and dance clothing, and for post surgical wear that entirely covers the lower body down to an edge that encircles the foot near the base of the toes and defines an opening through which the toes protrude. The upper and lower portions of the edge being bridged between the first and second toes, and also between the fourth and fifth toes by straps which create a double thong effect and provide a means to distribute the securing load for comfort, permittting the wearer to maintain the foot portion in position and keep the pantyhose taut on the body, even when wet. The garment may also be modified for post surgical wear.

Abstract: Reference is made to shorts or little skirt with an integral inner slip in which the shorts or little skirt on the one side, and the inner slip on the other side, are knitted together as one piece along their waistbands. A double layer knitting manufacturing process is described according to which the shorts or little skirt on the one side, and the inner slip on the other side, are knitted together in paralled rows along a common waistband running perpendicularly to their body axes, and pairs of shorts/skirts and inner slips are knitted continuously to subsequent pairs along common doubled seamed separating zones. Individual pairs of shorts/inner slips are then separated from the next pair and each pair is then subsequently folded into itself along a flexible transition point located in the waistband. According to the invention, the products are used to hold absorbant insert pads for use by incontinent adults.

Abstract: An undergarment according to the invention which covers the body from the waist down has stretch panels in the thigh area which permit the undergarment to fit over the thigh, while permitting the rest of the leg covering portion to be made form heavier material than conventional panty hose. The sock portions of the garment can be knitted continuously with the leg portions. Such an undergarment provides a better fit together with advantages such as light weight, warmth, and comfort.

Abstract: The present invention provides a full body hosiery garment. The garment contains a panty portion and two tubular leg portions with adjoining foot portions. The panty, leg, and foot portions are formed of spun nylon or other pantyhose material. An upper camisole portion is connected to the panty portion to provide a smooth contour with the panty portion to define a non-binding waist area.

Abstract: This invention relates to a panty hose garment worn by a dancer or entertainer who is also wearing a revealing costume such as a G-string. This invention avoids the problem of having to roll down the top edge of the panty hose garment to be hidden underneath the dancer's or entertainer's costume. When the dancer or entertainer puts on the panty hose garment, according to this invention, it is stretched to a point such that the edges of the panty hose garment ride on the dancer's or entertainer's hips. The front slopes down in a V-shaped configuration following the contours of the G-string costume such that the edge is completely concealed by the G-string. The panty hose garment further includes a teardrop shaped crotch panel, such that the edges of the crotch panel do not extend over the edges of the G-string costume.

Abstract: A garment crotch structure is adapted to be incorporated into several types of women's garments for providing an opening which may be used to perform bodily functions without removing the garment. The garment crotch structure includes generally separate right and left garment pieces. Each garment piece includes a leg opening for that particular side of the garment, a garment crotch portion adjacent to the leg opening, and a connecting section extending upwardly both front and rear from the particular garment crotch portion to both sides of the garment at the garment waist area. The garment pieces are connected together only at the waist area of the garment generally with the two crotch portions overlapping and with each garment piece having a free edge extending from the particular crotch portion to the waist area at the opposite side of the garment. These free edges may be parted manually by the wearer preferably from the rear of the garment to form the desired crotch opening.

Abstract: A panty hose garment constructed with woven, friction reducing inner-thigh panels and knitted pant and leg portions; the leg portions extending below the knees of the wearer. The inner-thigh panels are of a woven fabric and the panels face or line the inner-thigh regions of the leg portions. The construction and position of these panels will prevent the skin of the wearer from coming through the knitted fabric and will shield the skin of each inner thigh of a wearer from rubbing against the knitted leg portion of the other leg of the garment or against the skin of the other thigh of the wearer. These panels extend downward along the inner thigh from the crotch of the garment part way down the leg portions at least one-half the distance from the crotch to the knee.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of mending runs, snags, holes or the like in hosiery by the application of adhesive material. A single application applicator may be used. The preferred adhesive is biocompatible so that the adhesive may be applied while the hosiery is being worn; and the preferred adhesive is a cyanoacrylic adhesive. Decorative material such as dyes, glitter or other decorative material may be added to the adhesive to match or to decorate the hosiery.

Abstract: A pair of stockings are joined at the inner upper edge to form an integral garment connected by a crotchpiece. The crotchpiece extends between the two upper leg portions after being sewn to a portion of the top edge of each stocking. The stockings are worn under, and supported by, a pair of conventional panties. Additional support comes from a circumferential elastic band formed at the top of each stocking by a unique combination of spandex, nylon and cotton yarns. The band fits snugly around the thigh to prevent the stockings from slipping downwardly.

Abstract: The cotton characteristics are provided in the panty portion of the pantyhose of the present invention by knitting alternate single courses of the panty portion of a thermoplastic yarn and a much larger cotton yarn in plated relationship with the thermoplastic yarn. Stretchable characteristics are provided in the panty portion of the pantyhose by knitting intervening single courses of the panty portion of a thermoplastic yarn and a plated spandex yarn. The much larger cotton yarn, knit in alternate single courses, is predominant on both the inside and outside of the panty portion. The sheer legs of the pantyhose are formed by merely discontinuing the knitting of the cotton yarn in alternate single courses of the leg and discontinuing the knitting of the thermoplastic yarn so that the legs are formed of alternate single courses of thermoplastic yarn and intervening single courses of spandex yarn.

The sock portions of the garment are reinforced, and are knitted continuously with the leg portions. Abstract: A pantyhose undergarment, particularly for men, which permits urination and defecation without the need of lowering the same. The undergarment preferably comprises a fabric torso section which extends about a portion of the torso of the user below the waist. A pair of tubular leg sections extend from the torso section and are adapted to receive the legs of a user. The region of connection of the leg sections and the torso section form a crotch region which connects the front and rear lower portions of the torso section. A first set of flaps are capable of being spread apart to form the first opening in the front portion of the torso section to allow urination without the lowering of the undergarment. A second pair of flaps on the rear portion of the torso section are also capable of being spread apart to form a second opening on the rear portion of the torso section to allow defecation without the lowering of the undergarment.

Abstract: A system for forming substantially diamond-shaped gussets to be used in the production of panty hose garments wherein the gussets are formed by severing a circular knit tube along a bias angle of approximately 30.degree. subsequently to form strips having a width corresponding to the desired width of a gusset. The strip then is severed along a prescribed angle of approximately 30.degree. to define a gusset wherein the fabric wales extend parallel to a line extending from one point to the diagonally opposite point of the diamond-shaped gusset. The gusset is then transferred and oriented for subsequent sewing to hosiery blanks in the forming of panty hose.

Abstract: The present invention relates to athletic garments and, in particular, to tight, form-fitting athletic garment with panels to simultaneously warm preselected small, fragile muscles and tendons and provide ventilation for preselected large, hard-working and heat-generating muscles. In a preferred embodiment, the garment is a runner's tight with relatively open mesh panels covering the quadraceps and calf muscles and tightly knit panels covering the hamstring muscles, the front of the leg, the achilles tendons region and the groin area. The open mesh panels and the knit panels are preferably joined at their adjacent edges by relatively broad, four-needle flat seams which provide a proprioceptive effect.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing pantyhose by means of sewing machine using hose shaped leg parts comprises arranging the leg parts in a flattened side by side longitudinal relationship, cutting each leg part along an edge from the waist rim of its panty area up to a crotch leaving a remaining leg portion of each leg uncut so as to form upper and lower plies of each leg cut along their inner opposite edges, sewing the cut edges of the laterally adjacent plies together from the waist rim to the crotch to form a seam, deflecting the outer plies outwardly to overlie the remaining leg portions and continuing to sew the seam by sewing in the same direction the edge portions of the upper plies together. A sewing machine carrying out the invention includes a presser foot having a sole with a toe shaped front part which engages into each leg portion of the pantyhose to be formed.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a type of garment commonly referred to as tights, which is constructed in a novel manner utilizing one piece of fabric. A desirable body-conforming shape is imparted to the garment by utilizing a fabric blank cut from a single layer of knitted material in which the severed edges are seamed together to define one continuous seam extending from one toe portion, along the back of one leg portion, to the seat portion of the garment, and then downwardly along the back of the other leg portion and to the other toe portion. A second seam extends from the continuous seam, through the garment crotch portion, and upwardly at the front of the garment, terminating at the waist.

The leg portions are permanently secured to the interior of the foot portions by stitching in a manner which maximizes the area of contact between the yarn and the wearer's feet. The resilient elasticity of the sheer trunk and leg portions furnish muscle support and circulatory stimulation for the wearer's legs, while the knit foot portions prevent relative slippage and excessive perspiration build-up between the foot portions and the wearer's shoes.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for making mesh tights or panty-hose, with seam and elastic belt incorporated therein, and to tights obtained thereby. Over the height of the elastic belt, in a strip of about 2 cm width on either side of the slit made for joining two hose elements by a seam, an elastic yarn is knitted with one needle out of two, on the needles of the strip with the exception of the central needle, then the basic yarn is knitted on all the needles of the circular machine used, the hose elements are slit along the wale of the central needle and are joined by a seam.

Abstract: A therapeutic stocking structure comprising, an elongated belt having a sufficient length to encircle the waist of a wearer, with the belt having a pair of opposed sides for placement over the sides of a wearer's waist. The stocking structure has a stocking having a circumferentially elastic boot portion, and a hip panel extending upwardly from the stocking boot portion, with the hip panel having a margin at the upper end of the hip panel. The stocking margin is releasably secured to either side of the belt.

Abstract: The crotch area is integrally knit with the pantyhose blanks to eliminate the need for separately knit and cut crotch patches. The integrally knit crotch area includes a repeating four-course pattern of course portions with certain of the course portions including alternating jersey stitches and tuck loops to form openings in the crotch area and provide ventilation thereto. The repeating course portions also include selected courses with a hydrophilic yarn knit in plated relationship and on the inside of the body yarn to provide moisture-absorbing characteristics to the crotch area.

Extreme ends of the support structure halves preferably converge at the front and rear of the crotch panel, passing over the abdomen and lower back regions, thus forming a second anchor point at the pelvic region.

Abstract: The body bulge controlling portion of the panty hose has elastic yarn incorporated therein to provide a medium amount of compressive force against the body of the wearer and is positioned between portions of the panty hose having a relatively great amount of compressive force and a relatively small amount of compressive force. The compressive force against the body is thereby varied in a stepped or gradual manner so as to eliminate or minimize the abrupt outward bulging of the underlying portion of the body of the wearer. In one embodiment of the panty hose, the body bulge controlling portion is positioned between a panty girdle portion with a great amount of compressive force and the sheer legs which include very little if any compressive force. In another embodiment, the bulge controlling portion is positioned between the elastic waistband and the upper portion of the panty of the panty hose.

Abstract: A method and garment is provided for maintaining the body temperature of a patient undergoing surgery in an operating room where the ambient temperature is normally below the normal body temperature. The garment is constructed of cut segments of stretchable circular knit seamless fabric and includes arm and leg portions which extend beyond the length of the corresponding hands and feet of the patient. The cut segments are oriented so that the free open ends of the components of the garment are formed by the ends of the cut segments which will not ravel and it is not necessary to seam or hem the free open ends. The garment is constructed in an economical manner so that the garment may be disposed of after the surgical procedure is completed and the stretchable knit fabric provides a snug fit on a wide range of body sizes and shapes.

Abstract: In a method of making garments by helically winding bands of material, the bands are laid out side-by-side on stock material of predetermined width and the width of the bands is selected so that the sum of the widths of the bands is equal to the width of the material. This achieves a high degree of material utilization. The sizes of garments to be produced is independent, within limits, of the widths of the band, since larger or smaller garments can be made by varying the length of the bands and controlling the helical winding. In making pants-type garments, side extension pieces of generally triangular or trapezoidal form are joined to side edges of first and second bands which are helically wound to form the legs. Such side extension pieces are laid out on the material in alternately reversed, intercalated relation and adjusted lengthwise relative to one another so that the sum of the width of pairs of side extension pieces is equal to the width of the material.

The knitted fabric of the panty hose garment enables the panty hose garment to stretch to fit different sizes of wearers and to snugly embrace the portion of the body of the wearer covered by the panty hose garment.

The reinforced thigh band is integrally formed to the pants portion and leg portion by the utilization of a yarn having denier greater than that of the leg portion and/or pants portion.

Pressure exerted by a hair stubble against the fabric causes the microencapsulation to rupture and dispense the depilatory agent in a small localized area around the hair follicle. The depilatory agent dissolves the hair stubble without irritating the user's skin.

Abstract: The garment may be in the form of a panty, panty girdle, panty hose or the like and includes a panty portion formed of single piece front and rear panels with seams connecting opposite sides and a single seam extending transversely across the crotch area. The single piece front and rear panels are formed by transversely cutting seamless tubular blanks at an angle so that one side of the tube is substantially longer than the opposite side and then longitudinally slitting the tubular lengths of fabric along the shorter sides so that each panel includes opposite cut sides and inwardly and downwardly inclined cut edges. The lower medial portions of the cut edges of the body panels are joined together to form a crotch area and the opposite cut sides of the body panels are joined by side seams to form a pair of leg openings and a single waist opening.

The crotch insert is formed by severing a predetermined length from a strip of fabric having a width substantially corresponding to the desired width of the crotch insert so that the insert is substantially diamond-shaped with two of the sides being defined by the diagonal cut lines and the remaining two sides being defined by opposite side edges of the strip. The severing of the strip of fabric to form the diamond shaped crotch insert takes place at the location where the panty hose are formed to eliminate the problem heretofore and encountered in handling crotch inserts of the type which are die cut from wide widths of fabric.

The garment thus formed includes a panty portion comprising the slit upper welt portions of a pair of tubular blanks respectively seamed to the diametrically opposite slits of a third central tubular blank of reduced length.

Knitting of the panty portion included inactivation of a number of needles, knitting a first part of constant width formed by partial courses defining selvedge edges at their ends, knitting a central part by firstly narrowing and widening like a heel and then newly narrowing and widening, and knitting a second part of constant width formed by partial courses defining selvedge edges at their ends. The fabric is then cut to define the waist opening and the two parts of constant width are sewn together along the corresponding selvedge edges.
