Armpit Shields Patents (Class 2/53)
  • Patent number: 4485492
Abstract: This invention discloses a garment shield whose outer contour is convex and arcuate with the shield adapted for underarm protection of a garment. The shield is made to fold along a central portion and a heat seal retains the initial outer periphery. At least one additional heat seal is made in the shield and at an outer edge of this additional heat seal there is a line of perforations enabling that portion of the shield exterior of the perforations to be removed and discarded. The additional heat seal prevents exposure of the fill at the edge of the line of perforations. The perforations may be in more than one line and slots or small apertures may be made at the line of perforations.

  • Patent number: 4409052
Abstract: A methof of manufacturing a two-wing one-piece dress-shielding element with two wings each composed of an absorbent layer adapted to lie against the body of a user and a moisture-impermeable layer adapted to lie against a dress, includes the steps of continuously supplying a web of material for forming at least one of the layers of the dress-shielding element, providing a plurality of working stations for performing a plurality of working steps for manufacturing the dress-shielding element, and displacing the web between the working stations so as to perform the working steps, whereby the web serves as transporting means for the dress-shielding elements to be manufactured from the web. A dress-shielding element includes a body part composed of a web material and having two wing portions connected with one another in a transition region, and a mass of superimposed web material provided in the transition region and deformed so as to form a common concave edge line for both wings of the dress-shielding element.

  • Patent number: 3997920
Abstract: A dress shield consisting of two pieces of composite material each generally of crescent shape having a concave inner edge and a convex outer edge, each piece being cut from a laminated material consisting of a central waterproof barrier layer of a flexible heat-sealable plastic film and outer layers of spun-bonded polyester. The pieces are disposed flatwise one against the other with their corresponding edges in register, and are seamed together in face-to-face relation along their concave inner edges by a continuous heat seal, the latter being formed by ultrasonically sewing the concave edges together.
