Abstract: The invention concerns a rotary selector as control device for switching on and off and automatic control of a number of different program steps of electrical appliances such as washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers and the like. The rotary selector in the invention functions as a control device for switching on and off and automatic control of a number of different program steps of electrical appliances such as washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers and the like. This is done by connecting a pivoted actuator (3) via an operating shaft (4) with a magnetic rotary field sensor (5) in Hall sensor technology. An interface is integrated into the rotary field sensor (5), via which an angle-dependent code is transmitted to an electronic evaluation and control unit. In addition there is a device for positioning the actuator (3) at a precise angle, whereby a particular program cycle is assigned to each setting of the rotary field sensor (5) and each switch position of the actuator (3).

  • Patent number: 6900406
Abstract: A control unit, particularly for a cooking appliance, containing at least one depressible knob via which at least one switch can be actuated by an outward motion of the knob. The aim is to provide a control unit and cooking appliance of the aforementioned type, in which additional functions can be versatilely integrated in a structurally simple manner in a depressible knob without limiting the rotating motion of the knob. To this end, a blocking unit prevents the knob, in at least one rotating position, from being depressed and in this rotating position, the switch can be actuated by an outward motion of the knob that is transmitted to the switch via a transmitting unit.

  • Patent number: 6864441
Abstract: A rotating electric switch includes a shaft with a side hole and a biasing member in the side hole for outwardly biasing an electrically-conductive bullet. The bullet is in electrical communication with a shaft conductor in a bottom hole of the shaft. A liner insulation cap placed over the shaft has a hole in the liner insulation cap sidewall covered by an electrically conductive sleeve. The switch achieves a non-conducting state by rotating the shaft until the head of the bullet is retracted within the sidewall of the liner insulation cap. A conducting state is achieved by rotating the shaft until the bullet extends through the hole in the liner insulation cap sidewall to electrically contact the conductive sleeve. Further embodiments may include an electrically-conductive inner tube in the side hole of the shaft and one or more grooves defined in the interior surface of the liner insulation cap.

  • Patent number: 6843356
Abstract: A rotating actuator includes a shaft (24) and a mechanical stop device (23) for generating a stop to limit the rotation of the shaft in a direction of rotation. The stop device acts upon the shaft to prevent the shaft from rotating further in the direction of rotation by blocking the shaft using a stop device acting mechanically on the shaft while enabling rotation of the shaft in a direction of rotation counter to the stop with slip in a stop arrangement. The slip is configured such that movement of the shaft in the direction of rotation counter to the stop is detectable. The stop device may include two independently triggered, mechanical stop devices. One stop device acts as a stop for limiting the rotation of the shaft to the right, and the other stop device acts as a stop for limiting the rotation of the shaft to the left.
