Abstract: Electrolytically precipitated metal sheets, such as copper, nickel or zinc sheets, are detached from a base plate having worked as a cathode during precipitation and being rigidly held in a vertical position. Firstly, the upper edge of the metal sheet is detached entirely or locally by the aid of a blade system and, thereafter, said detached edge portion is grabbed with gripping means and pulled outwards essentially in a horizontal direction until the entire metal sheet is detached from the base plate. To facilitate the initial detachment an insulating tape or similar may be glued to the base plate at the solution level before precipitation. The gripping means may be connected to essentially horizontal guide means provided with driving members for creating the pulling force.
Abstract: The present invention is particularly directed to the structure and arrangement of the cathode holder which includes a tapered surface for producing an upturned edge portion on the metal which is deposited on the cathode plate to facilitate stripping of the metal from the plate. An enlarged portion of the holder permits engagement thereof to enable smooth pivotal motion of the holder relative to the plate so that the holder may be readily oriented with respect to the plate and, therefore, used repeatedly.
Abstract: The present specification describes and claims an electrode assembly which comprises a frame member carrying a plurality of anodes and cathodes, each anode and cathode comprising a metal rod or strip. One end of at least some of the anodes is joined to a connecting bar or wire and one end of at least some of the cathodes is joined to a further connecting bar or wire wherein the resulting junctions are covered with a water resistant resin. The electrodes are prevented from contacting electrodes of opposite polarity by insulating means provided at the end of each electrode remote from said junctions.
Abstract: A reflex reflector for retrodirecting illumination from the lamps of an approaching motor vehicle includes an array of interfitting V-block shaped cube corners having three mutually perpendicular reflecting faces within a frontal rectangular boundary. Each cube corner includes a first face bounded by a short side of the rectangle and the diagonals therefrom, a second face bounded by a long side and the diagonals therefrom including the diagonal common with the first face, and a third face bounded by the opposite short side and the diagonals therefrom including the diagonal common with the second face. In the array, the faces mate with the corresponding faces of juxtaposed adjacent cube corners to form a rectangular reflex strip. The reflector, when positioned vertically, redirects the intercepted illumination upwardly to the driver of the approaching vehicle.
Abstract: A matrix, which is to be employed for pressing foil disc copies carrying a spiral groove which is highly concentric to the axis of disc rotation, is formed by electrodeposition from a lacquer foil original which is cut to form a groove corresponding to such spiral groove and to form additional grooves deeper than the spiral groove and having a form that produces, on the matrix, sharp edges capable of directly cutting the outer periphery and center hole of a foil disc copy.
Abstract: A method of peeling the electrodeposited metal plate off the cathode base plate by inserting a wedge downward in the fine void formed previously between said cathode base plate and electrodeposited metal plate by hammering the surface of the upper edge of said electrodeposited metal plate, wherein a low pressure fluid is jetted from the vicinity of the tip of the wedge toward said fine void prior to insertion of said wedge therein.
