Abstract: A storage and safety device includes an enclosure frame for storing an article being stored, a lock mechanism for locking the article contained in the enclosure frame so as not to allow the article to be taken out, and a release jig for releasing the lock mechanism. The enclosure frame is a parallelepiped having two pairs of side frames, upper and lower frames, one of which is formed with an opening for insertion and taking-out of the article being stored, and the interior configuration of the enclosure frame is sized to enable the article being stored to move. The lock mechanism is constructed to be integral with the enclosure frame and can be inserted into and removed from a gap formed between the article contained in the enclosure frame and one of the side frames.

A slide plate is slidably mounted on one end of the frame and is movable linearly toward and away from the access opening. A separate tab is slidably mounted on the frame adjacent the access opening and is automatically moved linearly in a direction perpendicularly to the linear movement of the slide plate between a blocking position across the access opening and an unblocking position by a camming engagement with the slide plate. A lock mechanism releasably locks the slide plate in a fixed position to retain the tab in the blocking position until released by a key device.

Abstract: A sharps container has a receptacle, cover and tray and provides an improved locking mechanism to resist unauthorized tampering, as well as hermetically sealed construction to prevent any leakage of fluids from the container. The rotating tray provides an escapement mechanism for hands-free disposal of sharps through biasing the offset balanced tray into an open, receiving position to receive new items and deposit them into the interior of the container, and then returning to a nearly closed position. A locking mechanism is also provided to rotate the tray into a locking position thereby permanently closing the container and displacing the locking mechanism into the container interior so that the top surface of the locking mechanism is flush with the adjacent exterior container surface.

The hanging portion has a first hole defined therethrough and the disk has a second hole defined therethrough, each of the side walls has a protrusion extending therefrom so that the two side walls are securely inserted into a socket with the protrusion engaging with a recess defined in an inner periphery of the socket. The securing member has a flange extending radially from a lower end thereof and a hook member extending from an upper end thereof so that the securing member extends through the socket and the hook member is engaged with the second hole of the disk.

Abstract: A case storing therein a commodity is made to be only difficultly opened, so that a theft of only the commodity inside the case is prevented. Around a case storing therein a commodity, a blocking member for preventing the case from being opened is slidably fitted thereon. The case is provided with a locking pawl that is caught by the blocking member and is able to be thrust inward, so that the blocking member is mounted to the case while being unable to slide by an engagement between the blocking member and the locking pawl of the case. With this arrangement, the case is made to be only difficultly opened so as to prevent the occurrence of a theft unless the blocking member is removed.

Abstract: An instrument cassette and sterile wrap assembly includes a base having an upright sidewall and a horizontal bottom wall, the upright sidewall having a lower slot and an upper aperture defined therein. The assembly includes a latch member having a lower section, an intermediate section and an upper section, wherein (1) the lower section extends through the slot defined in the base, (2) the intermediate section is substantially planar, and (3) the upper section (i) extends through the upper aperture defined in the base, and (ii) has a slot defined therein. The assembly further includes a lid having a horizontal top wall and a tongue member attached thereto, wherein the tongue member extends through the slot defined in the upper section of the latch member when the lid is latched to the base.

Abstract: Disclosed is a lock container for compact disks and the like comprising a casing having an opening to permit a compact disk to get in or out on its rear side, and a push button-like locking means provided to the top side of the casing to prevent the compact disk from getting out of the rear opening in locking condition. The push button-like locking means comprises a lateral spring strip and an associated movable push piece. The lateral spring strip is responsive to depression of the push piece for catching the step-like projection of the push piece, thereby fastening the compact disk with the latch, and is responsive to application of magnetic force for releasing the step-like projection of the push piece from the lateral spring strip. Thus, the lock container can be locked simply by depressing the push piece, and can be unlocked simply by applying a magnet to the casing.

Abstract: A disc holder includes an insert engaged in a base and a cover pivotally coupled to the base for enclosing the insert. A platter is pivotally coupled to the insert for allowing the platter to be rotated into the insert and to be rotated outward of the insert. A latch may secure the platter to the insert for securing the platter to the insert when the platter is engaged in the insert. A spring may rotate the platter outward of the insert. A gear and a pinion may be coupled to the platter for slowing a rotational movement of the platter and for preventing the disc from being damaged.

Abstract: A case for glasses with a closing mechanism comprising a pair of flexible arms extending from the walls of the top of the case. Each flexible arm terminates with a wedge shaped cam. A pair of holes in the walls of the bottom of the case are present at points opposing the cams. When the case is closed, the cams engage the bottom walls, forcing the flexible arms inward. When the case is fully closed, the cams engage the opposing holes and thus secure the case in the closed position. The case may be opened by pressing the cams inward.

Abstract: A gun safe with dual method of gaining access therein including a portable housing having a top face, a bottom face, a pair of side faces and a pair of end faces formed therebetween thereby defining an interior space. One of the end faces is hingably coupled for allowing it to be pivoted between an open orientation and a closed orientation. Also included is a solenoidal locking mechanism situated within the interior space of the gun safe on the top face thereof. Such solenoidal locking mechanism is further situated adjacent an upper end of the hingably coupled end face. Further provided is a fingerprint scanning mechanism positioned within the interior space of the gun safe. The fingerprint scanning mechanism is adapted to detect the placement of a fingerprint adjacent thereto whereat the scanning mechanism is adapted to scan the fingerprint and convert the same into a digital format for processing.

Abstract: A paint brush container with improved fastener means comprises a pair of tray-shaped members connected together by a hinge. A fastener means for the trays comprises protrusions on one of them and mating openings provided through the other tray, where the length of the openings is longer than the width of the protrusions. As the hinge may wear and develop play, the trays may become out of their initial alignment. However, the extended length of the fastener openings easily receives the protrusions to provide a snap latch that maintains the container in the closed position.

Abstract: A video cassette shipping container having a base and a lid hingedly connected by a hinge assembly and movable between open and closed positions. A locking mechanism is mounted on the container and includes a pair of flexible flaps which are hingedly connected to the base and lid by reduced thickness living hinges. One flap includes a pair of locking tabs with barbed ends and the other flap includes a pair of slotted housings which are aligned with and received the tabs therein to secure the container in a locked position. The container is opened by pressing inwardly on a thumb pad located adjacent the ends of the flexible flaps. The flaps flex inwardly and the ends thereof deflect outwardly. The flaps are grasped and pulled outwardly and along the front of the container by a user.

Abstract: A new small sized tag cover for a compact disk to prevent shoplifting is developed. The shoplifting prevention tag is not easily damaged or removed from the compact disk housing case. Therefore, the compact disk is prevented from being stolen. The shoplifting prevention tag is recycled for subsequent use. The tag cover is comprised of a first connecting portion having a first engagement piece to be inserted into a first groove of a lid portion of the compact disk housing case. A second connecting portion having a second engagement piece is provided to be inserted into a second groove of the lid portion. A connecting portion is provided to retain the housing case in closed condition by clamping the housing case together with the first and second engagement pieces. A locking mechanism is provided to retain the lid portion in a closed condition.

Abstract: A single-action latch for use on a medical case which includes a storage tray and a closing lid includes a latch base with a mounting surface and rivet holes for attaching the latch base to the storage tray. A hook portion is pivotally attached to the latch base by means of a cylindrical pin. A release/closing lever is pivotally attached to the latch base by means of a cylindrical pin. A pair of oppositely-disposed connecting links is provided so as to interconnect the hook portion with the release/closing lever. The connecting links separate the hook portion from the latch base and the release/closing lever from the latch base. The latch is operable between a closed condition and an open condition and the lever is pivotally movable so as to transition the latch from the closed condition to the opened condition and then back to the closed condition.

Abstract: A sharps container having a receptacle, cover and tray and providing an improved locking mechanism to resist unauthorized tampering. The locking mechanism also incorporates a means to rotate the tray into a locking position thereby closing the container. When the locking mechanism is actuated, the container is permanently closed and the locking mechanism itself is displaced into the container interior so that the top surface of the locking mechanism is flush with the adjacent exterior container surface. The present invention also provides for hands-free disposal of sharps through the use of an offset balanced tray biased into an open, receiving position. The receptacle section is designed to be stackable for more efficient packaging and shipment. The container also incorporates viewing windows to permit visual inspection of the container interior to properly determine when the container full and ready for disposal. The container is also designed to be attached to a wall through the use of mounting brackets.

A spring blade (22) clamped at one end thereof in the blocking element extends in the displacement path of the blocking element to engage at the other, free end thereof behind a shoulder (25) on the frame and thus to prevent displacement of the blocking element in the blocking position, wherein positive engagement is established between the blocking element and the frame in order to prevent the blocking element from pivoting.

The retainer member further having a second latch portion that is aligned with the first latch portion and a fastener which is receivable through the first and second latch portions to connect the retainer member to the housing. The security display container is adapted to receive a cover which is mateable with the housing in a nesting orientation for displaying the watch and in an enclosing orientation for transporting the watch.

Abstract: A heavy duty metal box with a tamper resistant locking mechanism #4 used to store a loaded weapon or handgun. The box includes an embedded thumbprint recognition system including an optical scanner #2 and a numeric keypad #1 for a means of identifying a person as an authorized or unauthorized user. If authorized, the user will be given immediate access to the weapon or gun that is stored in the box. If file users identity cannot be recognized via the thumbprint on the optical scanner #2 or the numeric keypad #1 code or pin number they are determined to be unauthorized and file box will remain closed. Once the gun lock box's initial settings are completed and the initial thumbprints are scanned, only those recognized will be allowed to access the box.

The wall thickness of the package is thick enough so that the needle on the syringe cannot readily puncture the wall of the package and thus provides a safe disposal unit for the needle. A locking key is provided for locking the package so that access to the used syringe within the package cannot be attained after the locking key has been inserted into and lockingly engages the covers.

Abstract: A combination comprises an EAS tag having an exteriorly accessible channel and a releasable lock for securing the tag to an article, the lock being disposed at a given distance along the channel, and a detacher for detaching the tag from the article, the detacher including a probe adapted for movement in the passage, a drive unit energizable for moving the probe in the channel, and timing circuitry for controlling energization of the drive unit such that the drive unit moves the probe through distance corresponding to the given distance. The timing circuitry controls energization of the drive unit to move the probe through a distance corresponding to the given distance in a first sense for disposing the probe in releasing engagement with the lock. The timing circuitry controls energization of the drive unit to move the probe through a distance corresponding to the given distance in a second sense for moving the probe from engagement with the lock means to the exterior of the tag.

Abstract: A reusable plastic package for holding a rectangular article includes a housing having first and second rectangular-shaped storage compartments formed on opposite ends for selectively storing an article in one of the compartments. Each of the compartments has an access opening for inserting and removing the article into and out of the compartments. The longitudinal length and transverse width of the first compartment is substantially equal to the transverse width and longitudinal length, respectively, of the second compartment, thereby enabling the article to be stored in various orientations in the selected compartments. A lock compartment is formed between the storage compartments, and a slide plate is slidably mounted thereon and selectively movable across the access openings of the storage compartments between locked and unlocked positions for releasably securing the article in one of the storage compartments.

Each of the sidewall sections is formed with a protrusion and a groove. The first and second halves are connected together by having the protrusion engaged in the groove. A holding unit is provided in an inner portion of the second half.

Abstract: A dispenser for medical preparations includes a rectangular box having a bottom and a top portion. The top portion has a plurality of apertures, each aperture covered by a lid that is slidable in grooves in the top portion so that the lid is extractable in one direction. An insert having several rows of compartments for medical preparations is adapted to be inserted in the box so that each row is positioned under an aperture for access to the compartments through the corresponding overlying aperture. A cover which closes an opening in a side of the box is removable to allow the insertion and removal of the insert through the opening. A locking rod locks the lids in a position closing the apertures, and unlocks all of the lids at the same time. The cover is also locked in a closing position by the locking rod and is removable only upon actuation of the locking rod for unlocking the lids.

A generally U-shaped slide latch is slidably removably mounted in the spaced grooves for movement therealong between locked and unlocked positions. A plurality of projections on the slide latch engage flexible tabs on the base to secure the slide latch in locked position upon an open end of the slide latch reaching a stop formed on an end of the base. A manually operated key has tangs which are inserted through openings formed in the slide latch to disengage the flexible tabs from the projections, permitting the slide latch to be slidably removed from the container grooves enabling the cover to be opened from the base.

Abstract: A repository for storing small articles is constructed to resemble a common household object, such as a videotape cassette. The articles are placed in two containers mounted on the base of the repository, and the containers are sealed by a cover which is placed over them. The closed repository can be inserted into a sleeve which holds the base and the cover together. The sleeve has been marked with letters and designs to resemble the sleeve of a standard videotape cassette. The cover has been formed to resemble the top of a standard videotape cassette, but it also has a picture attached to it which depicts the inside of a videotape cassette and which thereby simulates a videotape cassette even more effectively. By simulating a common household object such as a video cassette, the repository is not likely to be discovered by a thief. The base includes apertures like those of a standard videotape cassette.

Abstract: A theft prevention device to be mounted on a parallelepipedic box, the device including a frame with an insert opening for enclosing the box. The frame is provided with a hook shaped lock tongue, displaceably and pivotally mounted to the frame. The hooked shaped lock tongue may be moved from an engaged position on the frame where it blocks the insert opening, to a position where it can be disengaged to not block the insert opening to allow removal of the box from the frame. A latch having a rotary bolt holds the hook shaped lock tongue in the engaged position. Abstract: An improved dispensing container for articles with the container having a lower, generally cylindrical receptacle rotatably interconnected to a cover, the cover and the receptacle form a chamber for containing the articles. An opening, sized for the passage of the articles therethrough, is formed in the cover. The lower receptacle also has an upward extending interior wall which forms at least a portion of a boundary wall of a blank cell closed to the intrusion of the articles within the chamber. The opening is positioned on the cover to move into and out of registration with the cell upon rotation of the cover relative to the receptacle, wherein upon registration between the cell and the opening, the articles are prevented from being dispensed from the chamber.
