Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for retaining solid state reagents and/or for processing sample for a diagnostic test, where the apparatus avoids liquid “hang-up” that would otherwise result in loss of sample or fluid volume during sample transfer. The invention further provides diagnostic methods that employ the apparatus, so as to provide sensitive and accurate analyte detection.

Abstract: A dental maintenance kit for the removal of stains and debris from the surface and from between the teeth that includes an intraoral tool equipped with a detachably-attachable sickle blade and scaler blade. A preferred material for the intraoral tool is non-metallic that includes a recess at each opposite end of the intraoral tool for acceptance of a protrusion on the non-working end of the sickle blade and or the scaler blade. The protrusion will have means to secure the sickle blade or scaler blade firmly into the recess at each opposite end of the intraoral tool. A preferred material for the sickle blade and scaler blade is stainless steel. A coating is applied to a shaft of the sickle blade or scaler blade that extends longitudinally for the entire length of the shaft exposing only the working surface of the sickle blade or scaler blade. A preferred material for the coating is non-metallic. A guide is included with the dental maintenance kit.

Abstract: A set of tools for removal of stains and debris from an animal's teeth includes an intraoral tool equipped with detachably-attachable sickle blade and scaler blade. Each blade includes a recessed area that is used to accept a desired quantity of meat-flavored toothpaste or other food therein. The toothpaste helps distract the animal from the teeth cleaning process. A preferred material for the intraoral tool is non-metallic and the blades are preferably stainless steel. A means to secure the blades to the intraoral tool is provided. A non-metallic coating is preferably applied to a base of each blade. A guide is included that provides written instructions for the use of the intraoral tool and various component parts.

Abstract: A flexible thermoformed dispensing package for a flowable material includes an integrally formed dispensing tube extending from the container portion having an internal extension spaced apart from the side walls defining a recessed chamber defined by a pair of integral thermoformed walls extending from the bottom surface of the container chamber and terminating proximate the base when the package is in a vertical position to facilitate sipping of a beverage from the container portion; alternatively, a straw is placed in the dispensing tube to reach the base of the package. In another embodiment, at least one integrally formed internal dividing wall extends from the sealed end of the dispensing tube and intersects an interior wall to define separate dispensing chambers, where the sealed ends of each of the dispensing chambers can be independently opened along a weakened transverse parting line and separated into separate dispensing channels along a longitudinal parting line.

Abstract: A shingle patch for repairing damaged asphalt shingles includes a base member, a notched portion on one end thereof, a roofing nail formed on its opposite end portion, or a flap portion which can be lifted so that a standard roofing nail can be nailed into the underlying damaged shingle, and colored granules embedded into the top surface of the base member. A sealant covers at least a portion of the notched portion and the bottom surface of the base member. The notched portion is structured for sliding under the shingle located immediately above the damaged shingle and the remainder of the shingle patch overlays the damaged shingle. An emulsion/adhesive injector system for repairing damaged shingles, an integral nail/disk structure which eliminates the need of having any exposed nails associated with a shingled roof, and special tools for lifting the bottom edge of a shingle are also disclosed.

Abstract: A package for an orthodontic bracket or other dental product is formed by a container having a bottom and a plurality of sidewalls, creating a cavity within the container. One of the sidewalls is disposed at an angle greater than 90 degrees from the bottom so that it slants up and away from the bottom. This way, the opening in the top of the package is larger than the surface area of the bottom of the package. There is a removable top configured for covering the cavity. There is a quantity of pliable material attached to the bottom or to the slanted sidewall. The pliable material is configured to be able to hold a small object such as an orthodontic bracket in place when the object is pressed into the pliable material. The bracket is placed on the pliable material in such a way that adhesive disposed on the rear side of the bracket does not touch the pliable material or any other part of the bracket.

The lid should partially cover the sponge holder such that water cannot permeate the dry container which keeps the dry sponges dry and free of contamination. The drying container further comprises at least one open end through which the wet sponge can be placed, vents and a reservoir in order to allow the wet sponge to dry. The drying container can be detached from the drying container allowing for portability and ease of use.

A composition comprising polyvinyl alcohol is applied to fabric in the shape of a design, and the fabric is dried. Upon the fabric drying, the surface of the fabric is embossed and/or debossed in the shape of the design. In particular embodiments, the composition comprises polyvinyl alcohol that is at least about 90% hydrolyzed. A kit for embossing and/or debossing fabric includes a composition comprising polyvinyl alcohol inside of a container, and one or more applicators.

Abstract: An improved geode breaking method, system, and apparatus are disclosed. A geode can be broken or cut into at least two pieces, or grooved with a circumferential groove. The geode pieces can be reassembled and connected to each other using a bonding material that supports the joint formed between the reassembled pieces. The bonding layer can denote a joint guideline to assist in aligning a geode breaking tool for re-breaking the geode. A support layer can be added for additional strength, support, and geode crumbling prevention. The reassembled geode can be safely and easily re-broken without crumbling the exterior and interior surface of the geode. The geode's interior crystals or concentric lines can be safely appreciated within a piece or section of a reassembled and re-broken geode.

Abstract: A secondary container assembly includes a skirt configured to securely and removably engage the rim of a beverage can. The secondary container includes a secondary compartment holding a secondary liquid. A primary flow channel extends through the secondary container to provide a fluid flow path from the open beverage can to an outlet of the secondary container. A plurality of mixing apertures provide fluid communication ports between the secondary compartment and the primary flow channel, allowing the secondary liquid to mix with beverage from the can in the primary flow channel. A vent tube prevents a vacuum from forming that would otherwise impede flow of the secondary liquid into the primary flow channel. A removable seal covers the outlet and mixing ports. A threaded lid holds the seal in place.

The package also includes a flexible sheet defining a cavity for receiving the substance between the stiff sheet and the flexible sheet. The package also includes an applicator having a porous material pad, where the applicator is attached to the stiff sheet over the score by two hinges. The stiff sheet is configured to be folded about the score to cause the substance to be expelled from the cavity through a metering hole into the porous material pad and the two hinges allow the porous material pad to remain generally flat as the stiff sheet is folded.

In particular, neutral pH cleaning compositions according to the invention employ a synergistic combination of water insoluble surfactants and an anionic hydrotropes capable of forming a stable, low-foaming solution. The neutral cleaning solutions provide significant benefits over water insoluble microemulsions traditionally used for neutral cleaning compositions and provide at least equivalent cleaning efficacy as non-neutral cleaning compositions.
