The wall and the bottom of the container include layers with at least one of an in-mold label, an oxygen barrier, or a moisture barrier. The system may further include a scavenger compartment and a retainer disc for retaining the scavenging element in the scavenger compartment. The container may optionally be flushed with an inert gas and hermetically sealed, and be closed with a lid.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to containers and blanks for forming the containers. The disclosed methods involve forming the containers, loading the containers with cylindrical articles such as cigarettes and dispensing the articles from the containers. The containers may include a box and a telescoping closure sleeve for selectably exposing a circular aperture in a side wall of the box. An inner wall of the box provides a curved surface for aligning an individual article or cigarette so that it may be dispensed through the aperture. The methods and structures disclosed here permit the container to be accessed and the articles or cigarettes to be dispensed, one at a time, by manipulating the container with one hand. A window in the sleeve permits the contents of the container to be viewed through an opening in the box.

Abstract: The invention relates to a blank arranged to be folded into an inner wrapper for wrapping a bundle of articles such as cigarettes within a pack. The blank comprises a fixed portion which is anchored relative to the pack and a displaceable portion which is arranged to lift at least one of the cigarettes clear of the bundle of cigarettes while facilitating subsequent removal thereof from the pack. The displaceable portion comprises a cover flap for covering the accessible ends of the article which are exposed on opening of the pack, and a lifting strip joined to the cover flap. The cover flap is arranged to tear away from the lifting strip only once at least one of the cigarettes has been lifted clear of the bundle of cigarettes under influence of the lifting strip.

Abstract: A cigarette case having an arrangement for automatically lighting and ejecting a cigarette therefrom. The case includes an outer casing which receives the cigarettes therein. The cigarettes are loaded within a conveyor carousel which preferably has sufficient space to load an entire pack of cigarettes. An ejector lid is pivoted to the outer casing and provides an ejection opening for the lit cigarette when in the open position. Movement of the lid from the closed to the open position causes the conveyor carousel to advance one increment and places a cigarette on a lift device, which is raised to extend a portion of the cigarette out of the case such that it may be grasped by the user. During this lifting a lighter is activated to light the cigarette.

Abstract: A cigarettes case comprising (i) a case body with a top partially cut away to provide a top opening located adjacent to one side of the case body for taking out a cigarette from the case body, with a vertical slit provided in the one side, and with an opposed, open side for supplying cigarettes into the case body 1, (ii) a removable side wall member for closing the open side, and (iii) a slider located in the case body and having a lid portion, an upright portion, and a projecting bottom portion. The lid portion closes the top opening when the slider is on the bottom of the case body. The upright portion is in contact with the one side of the case body. The bottom portion projects toward the open side of the case body and has sufficient size to support at least one cigarette thereon. The upright portion is provided at its outer surface with a projection projecting outwardly through the slit. A handle is located outside the case body and is connected to the projection.

Abstract: A portable cigarette caddy is disclosed which includes a mechanism designed to allow easy dispensing of cigarettes one at a time from a container. The mechanism includes a lever pivotable on a fulcrum which lever pushes a cigarette through an opening in the container which is closed by a cover operable at the same time as the lever is actuated. The device may be suitably attached to a wall surface within a vehicle and may also have a separate detachably attached container sized and configured to hold a cigarette lighter.

Abstract: A container for carrying small articles, the container including a pivotable top lid that is manually pivotable from a closed position to an open position. The container includes an inner container that is slidably carried within an outer container, the inner container having an open top. The lid of the outer container carries a push button for releasing the lid for pivoting movement about a shaft carried within the container. The pivotable lid also includes a lid that is adapted to engage a side wall of the inner container so that as the pivotable lid is pivoted from a closed to an open position, the inner container is carried upwardly toward the opening in the outer container by the lip on the pivotable lid, thereby carrying the articles closer to the open top of the outer container to facilitate removal therefrom. The outer container can optionally be slidably carried in a container sleeve that includes structure to permit the sleeve to be securely mounted to a surface.

Abstract: A cigarette dispensing package and blank are provided wherein an inner shell is pivotably movable within an outer shell between a fully contained closed position and a partially extending open position. The economical package construction embodies a two-piece blank with a novel toggle lock tab which can be loaded on conventional cigarette equipment with generally negligible conversion. In addition, a novel foil bundle is disclosed which facilitates loading during manufacture, and precludes damage to the cigarettes when the package is opened as the novel foil bundle cooperates with the movement of the inner shell within the outer shell.
