  • Patent number: 10118794
Abstract: A header cover encloses an end of an unwoven material cylinder to protect the unwoven material from damage or debris during storage or transportation. Unwoven material cylinders are commonly used to produce products such as clean suits, baby diapers, absorbent material, etc. The header cover includes a cover disc, a plurality of lateral-interfacing flaps, and a tethering ring. The cover disc and the plurality of lateral interfacing flaps encapsulate an end of the unwoven material cylinder. The plurality of lateral-interfacing flaps is perimetrically and foldably connected to the cover disc to allow the header cover to fold over an edge of the unwoven material cylinder. The tethering ring is adjacently connected to each lateral-interfacing flap of the plurality of lateral-interfacing flaps, such that as one lateral-interfacing flap is folded, every lateral interfacing flap is folded in the same direction.

Abstract: An improved coil package comprises a closable carton formed from a folded blank of cardboard and having a pair of oppositely disposed major side walls, each of which has an aperture in axial alignment with the aperture of the other major side wall and, removably housed in the carton, a reel on which is carried a coil of wire. The flanges of the reel have apertures of diameters less than the apertures in the major side walls of the carton and end parts of a rigid hollow hub formed of a transversely folded metal strip protrude from the reel flanges and are so rolled radially outwardly that their extreme edges bite into the outer faces of the reel flanges, no portions of the rolled over end parts of the hub protruding beyond the planes containing the outer faces of the major side walls.

  • Patent number: 4623063
Abstract: A fibreboard shipping container for coil material, such as wire, is formed of an octagonal cross-section tubular body having a closed bottom and a cover, with an octagon shaped, tubular core coaxially positioned within the body. A pair of stiff, fibreboard panels are forcibly positioned within the container on opposite sides of the core in substantial face to face contact with their adjacent core wall surfaces, and with their opposite vertical edges pressing against their adjacent interior wall surfaces of the body. The panels have closely spaced, horizontal score lines for folding their lower edge portions incrementally upwardly to adjust their heights to correspond to the distance between the cover and the upper surface of the core so as to apply downwards pressure by the cover against the core.

  • Patent number: 4546880
Abstract: A shippable package of wet strands having improved payout from the package in the production of continuous strand products is provided. The package has one or more cylindrical, layered, substantially square edged package of one or more strands, where the strands have a coating on the fibers making up the strands of an aqueous composition having a film forming material. The aqueous composition has an amount of water in the range of about 70 to around 99 weight percent of the composition. The amount of moisture of the package of strands is at least about 3 weight percent of the package. In addition, the shippable package has a sealed covering of substantially water impervious material to age the package of strand or strands for at least about two weeks at ambient temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4513864
Abstract: An interior core protector for protecting the interior of a coil of material, e.g., coiled sheet steel, from damage is disclosed. The core protector includes a pair of overlapping formed angular paperboard members each having a series of spaced die cuts in one leg thereof permitting the angular members to be bent to conform to the inner diameter of the coil. The cuts in one leg are offset from the cuts in the other leg such that when the protector is bent for placement in the interior core of the coil and the width of the cuts increases, a paperboard segment of one member nevertheless overlies the cut in the other to provide protection for the material about the full circumference of the interior core. The core protector is characterized in part by economies of materials used, economic use of such materials, and economies of shipment.

  • Patent number: 4208790
Abstract: A device to protect the end of a roll of material wrapped about a tubular core includes a protective annular body to be located in position proximate the roll end, and at least one prong located on the body to be inserted relatively endwise into the core interior when the annular body is located in its protective position. The prong has a tip angled to penetrate the core when deflected toward the core bore, thereby attaching the body to the core.
