  • Patent number: 12129138
Abstract: A tension-inducing shaft system includes a shaft, two shaft caps, and a biasing mechanism. A bore extends through the shaft between two ends of the shaft. The shaft caps are positioned on the two ends of the shaft. Each shaft cap includes a collar having a size that is larger than the bore, a keyed end, and an anchor. The biasing mechanism is arranged inside the bore and is coupled to the anchors of the shaft caps so that the biasing mechanism exerts inward forces on the shaft cap. The keyed ends of the shaft caps can be coupled to a housing so that the shaft caps do not rotate with respect to the housing. The shaft is configured to rotate with respect to the shaft caps such that, when the keyed ends are coupled to the housing, the shaft is capable of rotating with respect to the housing.

  • Patent number: 5738210
Abstract: An improved light-tight package for a roll of a length of web material such as photographic paper or film. The package includes an opaque leader wound around the roll. Folded-over portions of opaque tearable flexible end disks are held in place by adhesive tape strips. A rigid disk is positioned intermediate the end disks and the end surfaces of the roll. In a preferred embodiment, the adhesive tape is tearable and the leader includes a portion adapted to initiate a tear in the tearable tape and the end disks. Upon unrolling of the package by pulling the leader, the tape tears, and the end disks tear circumferentially, whereby the folded-over portions adhere to the leader when the leader separates from the roll, and the rigid disks provide support for the flexible end disks.

  • Patent number: 5462164
Abstract: A lighttight package for rolled light-sensitive material includes a core, light-impervious flanges at opposite ends of the core, a roll of the light-sensitive material wound on the core between the flanges, and a light-shielding circumferential wrapper enclosing the roll. The flanges each have a circumferential groove extending radially inwardly from the periphery thereof into which the axial margins of the wrapper are folded radially inwardly and inserted and retained, preferably by a clamping action. The groove is defined between opposed wall sections of the flange and at least one of the wall section can be relatively flexible to facilitate insertion of the wrapper margin therein. The inner termination of the wrapper margin within the groove can be re-entrantly bent and a cord or string can be laid within the re-entrant bend to provide greater security against premature withdrawal of the wrapper margins from the groove.
