Abstract: An apparatus for removing cyanotoxins and excess ions from contaminated water. Contaminated water passes from a storage tank (200), through a sand filter (210), through a reaction chamber (230), and finally through a carbon filter (270). The sand filter removes particulates and some bacteria. Treatment of the water in the reaction chamber first destroys cyanotoxins, algae, and bacteria through the use of high voltage shocks applied between two groups of electrodes (285, 285?), then the voltage on the electrodes is lowered and electrolysis is used to sequester free ions in the water in the region near the electrodes. Partially treated water is removed from the upper portion of the reaction chamber and passed through a carbon filter (270) to remove radiation, and to improve taste and smell. After passage through the carbon filter, the water is potable. The water remaining in the reaction chamber is discarded into a reservoir (265).

Abstract: A coolant filtration system and method for use with one or more metal working machines. The system includes a housing, pump, conveyer assembly, drum assembly, and centrifugal separator. The housing includes a tank that receives and holds coolant coming out of the one or more metal working machines. The pump is used to drive the coolant through the coolant filtration system. A part of the conveyer assembly is disposed within the housing in order to carry-away workpiece chips from the coolant. The drum assembly is located near the conveyer assembly in order to filter the coolant. The centrifugal separator receives coolant processed by the conveyor and drum assemblies. The system can further include one or more fine filters for additional filtering of the coolant outputted by the centrifugal separator.

Abstract: The invention is a portable, redundant, barrier-based continuous filter system which employs a two-stage filter. The first stage is a mesh strainer to eliminate sticks and other large debris, and then a second stage consisting of a series of barrier plates which abruptly change the direction of the fluid and thereby encourages sand and other particles to settle at the bottom of the tank. A two-filter system is disclosed that allows for continuous cleaning by employing two filter tanks which alternate between filtering and cleaning cycles. The two tanks are connected with valves so that the fluid first is filtered by one tank, and then switched to the second tank when the first tank requires cleaning.

Abstract: A static screen has a plurality of screening bodies and a plurality of aeration devices downstream of the screening bodies. Each aeration device is associated with a set of one or more of the screening bodies. Each aeration device may be a pulsing aerator. The pulsing aerators do not all release air at the same time. Each screening body works through periods of dead end filtration separated by backwashing events. The backwashing events comprise introducing a slug or pulse of air into the bottom of the screening body. Flow through the static screen continues at all times because the screening bodies are not all backwashed at the same time. The static screen may be used to remove trash from water flowing to an immersed membrane unit. Alternatively, the static screen may be used to provide primary wastewater treatment.
