Abstract: The present application is directed to the separation of a solid fraction from a fluid sample particularly a therapeutic cellular fraction from a biological sample such as a bone marrow sample by a porous filter which separates a filtration unit into an upper pre-filtration chamber into which a fluid sample requiring cell separation is introduced and a lower post-filtration chamber into which a fluid capable of transmitting an acoustic standing wave is introduced. An acoustic element is coupled to a substrate which is located within and at the bottom of the lower chamber and which resonates in response to the acoustic generating element and generates a standing wave through the two fluid phases and the filter to agitate the sample. Simultaneously, a cyclic process of vacuum draw, causes movement of the sample downwards through the filter. Vacuum pressure, fluid flow rate and frequency of vibration are controlled from a remote unit housing appropriate pumps and valves.

Abstract: A device (1) comprises filtering means (30) for removing particles from a fluid, which have a particle collecting face (31) for collecting particles during use of the device (1), and a chamber (10) in which a fluid is present and in which the filtering means (30) are arranged. An inlet (11) of the chamber (10) comprises a spouting part (20) which serves for spouting the fluid to be filtered in a direction towards the particle collecting face (31) of the filtering means (30). An arrangement of the spouting part (20) and the particle collecting face (31) with respect to each other is adapted to generate, during operation of the device (1), a rotating flow pattern in the fluid that is present in the chamber (10) under the influence of the flow of the fluid to be filtered, whereby particles can be blown away from the particle collecting face (31).

Abstract: A system for filtering and sampling, preferably but not exclusively, of oil drilling mud for the purpose of analyzing the gaseous component contained in debris produced by well-drilling and transported by said mud. The system is provided with a filtering surface developed in three dimensions and with various methods for cleaning the filtering surface with which any contact is avoided between the cleaner and the filtering surface. This prevents further and excessive incrustations of debris on the meshes of the filter and avoids an undesirable passage of air in the aspiration pipe when the filter is partially immersed.

Abstract: A water-soluble cellulose ether is separated from its suspension by passing a suspension of water-soluble cellulose ether particles in water through a filter of perforated metallic or ceramic filter medium under pressure, removing the filter cake of water-soluble cellulose ether from the filter medium, and cleaning the filter medium with steam, compressed air or water under pressure. The invention enables to separate a water-soluble cellulose ether, especially having a high dissolution temperature, avoids the filter from being clogged, and extends the operative time of the filter.

Abstract: The water filtration device and method introduce raw water into a filtration barrel where the water is purified by filter elements inside the filtration barrel. A main frame is set up in the filtration barrel and a driving motor is mounted on the main frame. The driving motor engages a holding rack inside the main frame to spin at high speed. Filter elements are stacked and interleaved on the holding rack. When the filter elements require cleaning to remove the attached contaminants from the raw water, filter elements are rotated at high speed along with the holding rack so that the contaminants are thrown off by the centrifugal force. When the filter elements are cleaned, the high-speed rotation of the filter elements could be stopped and the filtration process could be continued or terminated.
