Patent number: 7964094Abstract: A solvent filtration and recovery system for filtration and recovery of a solvent-based liquid used in dry cleaning includes filtration tank having filter chamber with motor-driven spin filters which are selectively operated. A valve and conduit arrangement allows the liquid from dry cleaning to enter the filter chamber for filtering and flows out as filtered liquid while the spin filters are not rotating. The arrangement allows initial at least partial draining of the solvent-based liquid in the filter chamber after such filtration procedure. A recovery tank is in communication with the filtration tank through a main drain. A motor drives the spin filters during a recovery procedure, in which centrifugal force caused by the rotating spin filters for a predetermined amount of time removes by-product from the spin filters, which is drained off from the filtration tank. A reservoir stores the solvent-based liquid and receives the liquid from both the recovery tank and the filtration tank.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2007Date of Patent: June 21, 2011Assignee: Jim's Formal Wear Co.Inventors: Todd Sudholt, Daniel Sims

Patent number: 6761822Abstract: A filter for filtering a fluid, such as lubricating oil for an engine, has a first element for trapping small particles and a second filter element for trapping sludge, the second filter element being stacked on the first filter element. A flow-deflecting element is disposed between the first filter element and second filter element to provide a spinning motion to oil flowing from the second filter element as that oil joins oil which is passed through the first filter element. The spinning motion of the oil from the bypass filter element encourages mixing of the oil from the second filter element with the oil filtered by the first element. A centrifugal separator is disposed in an annular space between the filter elements and filter housing for imparting a rotary motion to the fluid prior to the fluid passing through the filter elements. This removes large particles from the fluid by centrifugal force so that large particles do not add to the contaminant load in the filter elements.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2002Date of Patent: July 13, 2004Assignee: Dana CorporationInventors: Gregory Keith Rhyne, Mark Allen Roll, Willie Luther Stamey, Jr., Johnny Wong

Publication number: 20040108263Abstract: An improved method of separation of liquids from solids. Animal manure in particular must be separated in order to further process the liquid. This improved method of separation also utilizes a slanted plate clarifier in its design. This design will also provide a means of removing some of the more soluble chemicals from the liquid.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2002Publication date: June 10, 2004Inventor: Andrew F. Tangeman

Patent number: 6672462Abstract: A filtration apparatus includes a filter element disposed at a 45 degree angle defining an upper chamber for solids and a lower chamber for liquid. A trough is disposed at the lower end of the filter element. The floor of the trough funnels toward a central drain and an overflow drain is located approximately 8 inches above the trough floor. The lower chamber is provided with a drain for recirculating water to a sprayer above the filter element and is also provided with an overflow drain approximately 8 inches above the floor.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2001Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Inventor: James P. Patent number: 6655531Abstract: An assembly for separating solid phase material from a slurry that comprises a pressurized filtration unit including a vessel and filter media. A slurry is fed to the filtration unit where it is separated into a solid phase material and a liquid phase material. The filtration unit has a solid outlet for discharging the solid phase material to a material transport. The material transport moves the solid phase material to a depressurizing chamber that has a lower pressure than the filtration unit. As the solid phase material enters the depressurizing chamber it is exposed to the lower pressure of that chamber. The material transport maintains the pressure difference between the filtration unit and the chamber. Subsequently, the depressurized solid phase material can be conveyed to other equipment for drying or other processing.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2002Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventors: Jon O. Patent number: 6638425Abstract: A magnetic filter removes magnetic particles from fluid communicated through the filter. The filter includes elongated, circumferentially spaced magnetic elements which capture magnetic particles entrained in the fluid. The magnetic elements must be cleaned periodically to remove the particles from the elements by moving a scraper plate from one end of the housing to the other. At the end of travel of the scraper plate, the particles are scraped upon non-magnetic end portions (which may contain residual magnetism) of the magnetic elements, from which they are flushed by fluid communicated through the inlet port out through other ports provided on the housing.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2001Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Assignee: Filter Specialists, Inc.Inventor: Gunther E. Patent number: 6634372Abstract: In an apparatus containing rotating filter media that removes solids from a fluid stream, the invention provides devices and methods for improved cleaning of the filter media. Solids trapped on the filter media are removed by the application of a pressurized fluid spray system. The spray system has nozzles distributed across a spray arm. The nozzles create a generally elliptical spray fan pattern in contact with the filter media. The nozzles are spaced and angularly oriented on the spray arm so that adjacent spray fan contact areas overlap. This distribution and orientation equalizes the distribution of the washing flow and hydraulic energy over the filter area, thereby maintaining the filter material in a more uniformly clean and effective filtering condition.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2001Date of Patent: October 21, 2003Assignee: Aqua - Aerobics Systems, Inc.Inventor: Eugen O.
