Abstract: A pump unit having a fuel pump and a suction filter is provided in a sub tank of a fuel tank. A filter element sheet for the suction filter is formed in a cup shape, a bottom wall portion of which faces to an inner bottom surface of the sub tank. A suction port of the fuel pump is opened to a fuel passage formed in the inside of the suction filter, so that filtered fuel is sucked into the fuel pump. Multiple mountain fold portions and multiple valley fold portions are formed on a side wall of the cup-shaped filter element sheet, to thereby increase surface area for filtering the fuel.

  • Patent number: 8182677
Abstract: Known tank flanges have a main filter which has a filter housing with an inlet and an outlet, and a first connecting duct for connecting the main filter to a feed unit. The filter housing is integrated in the tank flange, and filter fabric is inserted into the filter housing and the filter housing is closed off by a filter cover. The inlet of the filter housing is connected to the pressure side of a feed unit and the outlet leads to an internal combustion engine. A disadvantage is that, in order to exchange the filter fabric, the large-area filter cover must be opened, as a result of which a large amount of fuel vapor is dissipated to the atmosphere. In the case of the tank flange according to the invention, the exchangeability of the main filter is simplified by virtue of the main filter being embodied as a filter cartridge. It is provided according to the invention that the inlet of the main filter extends into the first connecting duct of the tank flange and therein forms a sealed connection.

  • Publication number: 20090095257
Abstract: A fuel injection system has a high-pressure fuel reservoir with at least one fuel feed and at least one fuel discharge, wherein the fuel feed interacts with a high-pressure fuel pump and the fuel discharge interacts with a fuel injection valve. Arranged in the fuel discharge and/or fuel feed of the high-pressure fuel reservoir is a gap filter which is configured geometrically in such a way that it achieves a predetermined throttle effect. The use of the gap filter in the fuel discharge and/or in the fuel feed prevents dirt particles from being able to get into the injector and cause malfunctions there. Furthermore, pressure vibrations which are induced in the system as a result of the injection process or as a result of the high-pressure fuel pump are damped by the throttle effect of the gap filter.

Abstract: A filter installation has a pivotably mounted flap (13), a filter head (15) mounted on the flap, a filter cartridge (16) mounted on the filter head. Flexible piping (18,19) is provided for supplying fluid to be filtered to the filter head and removing filtered fluid from the filter head. The flexible piping allows the flap (13) to be pivoted to an access position in which the cartridge is readily accessible for installation or removal. The installation is particularly suitable to be used on a vehicle such as a tractor in which the pivotable flap is the door on a battery box or other compartment of the vehicle. The filter cartridge can be used to filter bio-fuel for an engine of the tractor or to filter hydraulic fluid or transmission fluid.
