Including Rack Or Worm Patents (Class 212/248)
  • Patent number: 9327947
Abstract: An all-terrain vehicle lifting crane apparatus is provided, having a pivotable and telescoping lifting boom and a tethered lifting hook that is powered by hand crank or by electric motor. The apparatus includes a base plate supporting an upstanding post, within which the vertical member of the lifting boom is pivotably supported therein. The lifting boom includes a telescoping structure to allow for extending its length over an article to be lifted. Both the telescoping aspect and the pivotable aspect are securable to lock the apparatus into a static configuration. The device is ideally suited for connection to an all-terrain vehicle and for lifting large game animals onto the vehicle cargo area after a hunt.

  • Patent number: 6010080
Abstract: The device is for mounting on a self-propelled vehicle which hydraulically operate the device. The device includes an articulated boom, a boom support on which the articulated boom is mounted, the articulated boom being fixed to the boom support. The equipment is mounted at the end of the articulated boom to be raised or lowered. A hydraulic system including also a rack and pinion is used to rotate the boom support about a vertical axis, which means that the equipment such as a spray nozzle may be positioned at selected locations by simultaneously or alternately raising or lowering the equipment and pivoting it around the vertical axis of the boom support.

  • Patent number: 5203837
Abstract: A crane has a generally horizontally disposed main boom arm centrally pivotally mounted on a turret supported for rotation atop a central column. The main boom arm supports a load at one end and a counterweight at its other end. The main boom arm load support end has a depending vertical arm, linked in parallelogram fashion with the turret, and with a lower rotatable load carrying swing arm movable through a full 360.degree. arc without interference with the column and turret. The column may be mounted on a dolly. A rack and worm pinion arrangement are provided on either the main boom or the counterweight for adjusting the distance of the counterweight from the column and turret, thus to balance the crane in a vertical plane.

  • Patent number: 5040428
Abstract: A swing reduction gear assembly for a swing device which prevents admission of grease into the same and in which the pressing force of grease squeezed out from between mutually meshing teeth of a pinion and an internal gear wheel thereof is reduced. The swing reduction gear assembly comprises a lower bearing for supporting an output shaft for rotation on a casing, a sealing collar fitted on an outer periphery of the output shaft and located above a pinion integrated with the output shaft, a retainer mounted on the casing below the lower bearing, and an oil seal fitted around the retainer and normally held in engagement with an outer periphery of the sealing collar. The oil seal has a lower face side lip portion formed thereon, and a disk-shaped plate is mounted on an outer periphery of the sealing collar such that the lower face side lip portion of the oil seal is normally held in contact with an upper face of the disk-shaped plate to prevent oil from entering the swing reduction gear drive.

  • Patent number: 4794662
Abstract: The invention is a self-contained chimney cleaning apparatus. A winch operated wire brush is attached by cable to a winch pulley, which is in turn mounted to a pivoting housing. The pivoting housing is suspended over the opening of the chimney flue, and remotely controllable. The remote control allows the housing to be pivoted away from the chimney flue opening when the cleaning operation is complete. During the cleaning operation, the housing is positioned over the chimney flue opening and the winch operated brush is lowered and raised through the chimney flue.

  • Patent number: 4768662
Abstract: A hydraulic pivot device for pivotally connecting a support housing to a boom of the type secured to a vehicle. The hydraulic pivot device comprises a main housing having a gear-engaging piston which is axially displaceable in a piston cylinder provided therein. The piston has opposed piston heads and is sealingly displaced placed in the piston cylinder by fluid pressure applied at a selected one of opposed ends of the piston cylinder. The piston is also positively interlocked by the use of lock valves which are port-mounted at each end of the piston cylinder. A drive shaft having a drivable pinion gear is supported within the housing with a drivable pinion gear being in toothed engagement with a toothed section of the piston so that axial displacement of the piston wall impact axial rotation to the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4601402
Abstract: Front and rear pairs of crawler assemblies are provided for supporting concentric ring segments disposed forwardly under the boom and rearwardly under the counterweight so the crane can travel under load and swing through at least a partial horizontal arc. One and preferably both crawler assemblies are selectively and reversely powered to facilitate forward and reverse as well as turning movement during travel under loaded and unloaded conditions. The inner ring segment is at least partially surrounded by a rotatable cage structure which provides a connection point for a frame element extending to the forwardly disposed crawler assembly to permit independent steering of the rear crawler assembly.

  • Patent number: 4505396
Abstract: In a working vehicle including a crane (21) for handling loads and a driver's cab (11), both crane and cab are rotatably mounted on the vehicle, each about its vertical axis, and controlled such that a turning angle .beta. of the crane results in a turning angle .alpha. of the cab, .alpha. being an optional function of .beta., e.g. half of .beta.. The driver can thus carry out all the working operations desired for the crane without having to turn his head uncomfortably.

  • Patent number: 4336889
Abstract: A ring supported, self-propelled truck crane and method of operation is disclosed wherein a boom is mounted on the chassis for pivotal movement only about a horizontal axis. The chassis is driven into an incomplete segmented ring set up at a working site with rollers on end portions of the chassis projecting downwardly and overlying the ring when the ring opening is closed by adding an additional segment thereto. The ring is then elevated to lift the wheels of the chassis completely off the ground and drive means interconnect the ring and the chassis to rotate the chassis about the vertical axis of the ring. Flanged rollers journaled on the chassis engage the ring to center the chassis on the ring and to rotatably interconnect and support the ring on the chassis for transportation therewith to the next site when the ring and chassis are lowered for support entirely upon the wheels of the truck crane.
