Adjustable To Transport Or Nonuse Position (e.g., Collapsible) Patents (Class 212/294)
  • Patent number: 6213320
Abstract: A method of logging utilizes a combination log yarder and processor vehicle having a basic vehicle structure not unlike that of a track-type excavating machine, but with a boom arm assembly arranged for operation in conjunction with a log processing head apparatus and its particular requirements for the handling and processing of felled logs and trees. The vehicle mounts a collapsible yarder tower arrangement which rotatably mounts a cable guide head member for relative rotation between the cable guide head and the vehicle on the same center axis of rotation as the vehicle turntable rotates on its undercarriage, thereby permitting the vehicle full rotational capabilities and operation of its boom arm apparatus when the yarder apparatus' cables are extended and anchored and in operation, and thereby permits a yarding operation of felled trees to be conducted simultaneously with a log processing, log sorting and log loading operation by a single personnel at a destination location at a logging site.

  • Patent number: 6202868
Abstract: A vertical lift hoist and winch is taught which can be used, for example, for suspending wild game animals for the purpose of field dressing. The assembly is collapsible without any disassembly of major parts, to be able to fold up into a convenient carrying position, or to be capable of storage in a normal automobile truck, Jeep or station wagon compartment or a truck tool box. The winch lift assembly permits convenient storage and ease of set-up, where all pieces are held together as one. The pulley's are recessed in the upper boom which allows a tight closure in the collapsed position which is an advantage over other types of lifts. Nothing hangs down below the boom, thereby eliminating any cable tangles or interference when setting up or storing.

  • Patent number: 6045297
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method and apparatus for drilling rig mobilization and demobilization. The rig is assembled or constructed at a remote site. It is later taken apart and transported to another remote site or back to a staging point. The rig itself comprises a rig floor which is supported on a set of vertical rig legs which support the rig floor for movement between raised and lowered positions. An equipment module is preferably installed on the rig floor. It goes above the rig floor while other modules are attached under the rig floor and provide additional equipment and service space. The method involves the transportation of the rig floor, the legs, equipment module and other modules to and from the rig site by hover craft while riding on a top deck on the hover craft for lateral transfer and installation.

  • Patent number: 5960970
Abstract: A crane having an upper works rotatably mounted on a lower works, a boom comprising a boom butt and a boom top, a load hoist line, and a wire rope guide connected to the boom butt. The wire rope guide is pivotable between a first position on the end of the boom butt and a second position on the upper side of the boom butt. While in the first position, the wire rope guide permits the load hoist line to be used to lift objects when the boom top has been removed from the crane. The crane also comprises a method of repositioning the wire rope guide during assembly of the crane.

  • Patent number: 5950847
Abstract: A railborne mobile crane with an auxiliary car which is coupled to the crane car and has a supporting device for the head of the boom during transport, wherein the boom lies essentially horizontally and is articulated at the boom base at the pivoting frame of the mobile crane. The boom head which extends the boom in the longitudinal axial direction is connected with the boom so as to be articulated vertically and can be deposited on the supporting device which is fastened to the auxiliary car so as to be pivotable about a horizontal axle and is provided with a three-dimensionally articulated abutment for the boom head which is, in turn, displaceable on the supporting device transverse to the longitudinal axis of the boom.
