Abstract: A closure and lenticular lens assembly that has a retaining member with a bend and a substantially horizontal, circular rim portion is disclosed. The rim portion extends annularly inward from the bend to secure the lens to a top surface of the closure. A method for forming the closure and lens assembly is also disclosed that includes placing a lenticular lens into the closure top and curling the retaining member radially inward over an edge of the lenticular lens.

Abstract: A bottle includes a base and a continuous sidewall extending upwardly from the periphery of the base to a neck. The neck defines an opening which is selectively blocked by a lid. Base and sidewall define a cavity for containing a suncream or the like which a person selectively applies to their skin to reduce the harmful effects of the sun's rays. The package also contains display means for providing a person with the indication of the intensity of UV radiation, or another ambient condition, incident upon the package.

Abstract: A tamper-indicating device is described. The device has a transparent or translucent cylindrical body that includes triboluminescent material, and an outer opaque layer that prevents ambient light from entering. A chamber in the body holds an undeveloped piece of photographic film bearing an image. The device is assembled from two body members. One of the body members includes a recess for storing film and an optical assembly that can be adjusted to prevent light from passing through the assembly and exposing the film. To use the device with a hasp, the body members are positioned on opposite sides of a hasp, inserted through the hasp, and attached. The optical assembly is then manipulated to allow any light generated from the triboluminescent materials during a tampering activity that damages the device to reach the film and destroy the image on the film.

Abstract: A closure includes a plurality of decorative display elements arranged at regular intervals around an outside surface of the closure, the decorative display elements, and gaps between the display elements, serving as engagement locations for a chuck to rotate the closure. According to one aspect of the invention, the display elements are peaked upwardly from an open bottom end of the closure, having wider base ends than distal ends, and the gap formed between the elements is tapered in a downward direction. In one embodiment, the display elements are stepped in profile having different levels of raised planes providing a three dimensional decorative display. The regularly spaced decorative elements also provide an enhanced gripping surface for the fingers of a consumer.

There are alternative ways of constructing the sound generator, such as with electrical switches, light sensors or the like.

Abstract: An object formed from a molded support may comprise a material that may be metallically coated by electrodeposition. At least a part of the support's surface may be covered with a first metallic coating formed of at least n superposed layers of metal, where n≧2. The first metallic coating may at least partially delimit a decorative pattern. A second metallic coating formed of at most n−1 metal layers may cover the surface of the support in a region corresponding to the decorative pattern. An outer metallic layer of the first metallic coating may have at least one of a color and an appearance that differs from a color and an appearance of a metallic outer layer of the second metallic coating.

Abstract: A personal identification method and system for improving personal hygiene in which provision is made for identifying a beverage, food product, or the like, with a particular person so that another person does not inadvertently access the identified item unintentionally. Identifying indicia such as numbers or alphabetical letters are selectable and conditioned by the user to be prominently displayed on the item so as to identify it with the individual involved. For necked beverage containers, in one embodiment, a re-usable snap-on display device, or assembly, is configured to snap onto the neck of the container; in another embodiment, the existing conventional cap-attaching ring is modified to include alpha-numeric indicia and/or to receive a cooperating indicia-indicating display element.

The printed image (11) enables easy removal of the lids (10) individually from a stack of lids in the packaging machine without having to depend on embossing of the lids.

The cap comprises a peripheral skirt capable of being clipped on the can top ring external periphery, and a central surface bordered with a shoulder linked to the peripheral skirt top edge, the shoulder being arranged to cooperate with the inner and/or outer edge of another can bottom ring. The invention is applicable to drink cans.

Abstract: A system of containers for medications having tactile identification indicia means on the cover of the container. The originally dispensed medication is placed inside a larger container from which the medication is dispensed to the patient. The larger container having tactile indicia identifying the medication therein. The tactile indicia include at least the first letter of the name of the medication. In addition to the letters of the name of the medication, the indicia may also include the Braille symbols for the letters, as well as unique indicia for indicating the prescribed dosage and the frequency of dosage. The system may also include a separate printed chart listing the indicia for each medication for use by sighted caregivers.

Abstract: This relates to the provision of a button type closure with a tamper-indicating element that visually indicates when a container has been opened. A deflectable button on an actuator panel is utilized to fracture a disk of brittle material situated between the button and a rigid transparent plastic holder into which the actuator panel and brittle disk are inserted. The plastic holder not only carries the actuator panel and brittle disk, but it also has provisions to hold the deflectable button in its down position by pressing the down button tightly against a rib on the underside of the holder, thus holding the deflectable button in the down position before the closure is applied to a container.

Abstract: A plastic end plug for use with plastic pipe, the end plug having a knock-off disc with dimensions that prevent the entire disc, when separated from the remainder of the plug, from entering the pipe bore. The knock-off disc of the plastic end plug is removable by a force applied to the disc in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis through the pipe bore, and desirably includes an optical indicator observable by the user to determine whether or not the underside of the knock-off disc is wetted by a fluid contained in the pipe segment.

The lid includes a platform configured for engaging the container, and the platform includes retaining structure and a top surface with indicia associated therewith. An index member is retained generally on the top surface of the platform by the retaining structure, and the index member defines a window for viewing therethrough the indicia associated with the top surface of the platform. The index member is rotatable with respect to the top surface of the platform such that the window moves with respect to the indicia associated with the top surface of the platform. Both the platform and index member are configured to receive a straw generally in a center of the platform and index member. The index member includes stability-enhancing structure generally at a peripheral edge of the index member, and the stability-enhancing structure at least partially defines an edge of the window.

Abstract: One form of a cap for a container includes an internal part and an external part relatively movable with respect to one another among closed, intermediate and open cap positions. Complementary structures protrude from the internal and external parts for dictating relative positions of the internal and external parts as the parts are initially joined together. Interengaging elements on the internal and external parts secure a selected portion of one of the internal and external parts to the other after joining the parts together. A breakable seal between the selected portion of the one of the internal and external parts and the remainder of the one of the internal and external parts, when broken, allows the internal and external parts to move relative to one another. Variations are also disclosed.

The container further comprises a newly added rotatable pointer which is attached around the upper round portion of the container. The pointer can be attached to any post manufactured container with an upper round portion. The container further includes indicia which is applied around the upper portion of the container just below the rotatable pointer. The container further includes a post manufactured, separable double closure, which is separated using a double closure separator comprising a locking C-clamp having one standard round clamping tip and one newly added separator wedge blade tip.

Abstract: A container and closure assembly, affording a simple, quick, ergonomical, and reliable closing operation, provides an intermediate, partly open position that is reliably indicated. The distance of rotation of the closure relative to the container necessary for closing the closure is short, so that quick and simple closing of the container is provided. The closure is mounted to the container by a projection that is cooperatively received in a track. Either the closure or the container may be provided with the projection, the other being provided with the track. In a preferred embodiment, the track includes a protuberance that hinders the movement of the projection past a predetermined position along the track.

The cap comprises a cap bore having either a cap female thread or a cap bore lip, whereby the calendaring cap for a pharmaceutical container may be installed on a standard pharmaceutical container. Each ring bears a pointer which points towards indicia on the cap. In a calendaring cap for a pharmaceutical container embodiment incorporating two rings, the cap may bear day indicia and hour indicia. A first ring is associated with the day indicia, and its pointer points towards the day indicia. A second ring is associated with the hour indicia, and its pointer points towards the hour indicia.

Abstract: A dispensing package closure with a lenticular lens insert wherein the closure includes a retaining ring for easy positioning and secure attachment of the lenticular lens to the closure top. The closure with lenticular lens insert provides a selected visual effect whereby the lenticular lens provides the illusion of three dimensional images, moving images, or multiple images when viewed from different angles. The enhanced visual appearance of the closure with lenticular image increases the saleability and marketability of products sold in dispensing packages sealed with the closure with lenticular lens insert.

On the exterior surface of the top wall is a key slot and an alignment aperture. An inner cap member for threadedly engaging a container neck is concentrically received within said outer cap member has a mark and key slot on its top wall. The outer cap member normally rotates independently of the inner cap member. When the outer cap member's alignment aperture registers with the mark on the inner cap member, the key slots are aligned allowing a key member to be inserted therethrough. Accordingly, the inserted key member is then rotated to simultaneously rotate the inner and outer cap. The top wall of the outer cap member also includes means for removably retaining the key thereon.

This mechanism locates the nozzle cap relative to the nozzle and indicates the number of times the nozzle cap has been removed or replaced in a given cycle. The mechanism comprises upper and lower clips for removably attaching the mechanism to the bottle and nozzle cap, a rotatable part, a set of symbols, an indicator and mechanical means for indexing the rotatable part. Each time the nozzle cap is removed, or each time it is replaced, the rotatable part is automatically indexed to the next sequential position.

The lid assembly also includes an insert having a peripheral border. The insert is sized such that the peripheral border is retained underneath of the peripheral retention lip so that the insert is held on the lid.

Abstract: An improved, tamper-evident label and bottle cap to be used with standard five gallon bottles; such bottle cap of the type having a central tube section capable of receiving a dispensing probe which is part of a dispensing system. A micro-thin, plastic label is heat-sealed to the face of the bottle cap, thereby protecting the central tube section from any external contaminants. An edge of the label is left unsealed to provide a means for peeling the label from the bottle cap when the bottle is to be installed. By virtue of the heat-sealing method of attachment, the tamper-evident label cannot be reattached to the face of the bottle cap, or any other surface, once it is removed.

Abstract: A tamper-indicating closure for a container includes a cap with removable panels of a top wall of the cap. Each removable panel is connected to a tab on the inside of the cap. The top wall includes inner and outer cams on an inside surface and the tabs underlie the cams. A liner disc is applied inside the cap for sealing against the container. A plurality of spaced-apart ratchet teeth are arranged in one or two circular patterns on the liner disc and sized and located such that the circular pattern of teeth meshes with the two cams. The tabs have a toothed transverse cross-section which allow the tabs to ride over the ratchet teeth in a screwing-on direction to the cap, but the tabs are engaged by the ratchet teeth in a screwing-off direction of rotation of the cap. Since the liner disc and ratchet teeth are stationary with respect to the container, unscrewing of the cap causes the ratchet teeth to separate the panels from the moving cap.
