  • Patent number: 8985370
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention include a drink bottle with a removable lid including an inner lid attached to the mouth of the bottle and an outer lid pivotably mounted to the inner lid. A drink spout extends from the inner lid. The outer lid may be latched into a closed position covering the drink spout. A push button can be selectively actuated to release the latched outer lid, permitting the outer lid to open to access the drink spout. The push button moves a lid slide containing a catch extension that engages a catch notch in the outer lid to latch the outer lid closed. Actuating the push button moves the catch extension out of engagement with the catch notch, thereby opening the outer lid. A push button lock selectively prevents the push button from being depressed and the lid slide from being actuated, thereby locking the outer lid in a latched and closed position.

A push button on the inner lid can be operated to release the locked outer lid, permitting the outer lid to open to permit drinking from the drink spout. The push button moves a lid slide that extends opposite to the hinge and contains an extension that engages with a notch in the upper lid to hold the upper lid closed. On actuating the push button, the lid slide is pulled toward the push button and the extension at the other end of the lid slide moves out of engagement of the outer lid, thereby opening the outer lid.

  • Patent number: 4717033
Abstract: A one-piece closure with a snap-on hinged type closure provided with a safety band. When the safety band is still intact, the closure cannot be opened. Once the safety band has been removed, the closure is movable to a lower position relative to the upper edge of the container neck by rotation about a threaded container neck or by downward axial movement. While the closure is in its upper position and the safety band is intact, a catch engages underneath a projection on the base of the closure and prevents the cap from being opened. When the closure is in its lower position, the upper edge of the container neck releases the catch from behind the projection and the sealing cap can be opened. While the safety band is still intact, interaction of an external ratchet-like serration on the container neck and an internal serration on the safety band may prevent the closure from being rotated.

  • Patent number: 4278179
Abstract: A container closure lid and container dispensing top including a container dispensing top and a closure lid pivotally mounted on the container top and movable between an open position and a closed sealing position. The container lid further includes elongated serations disposed in an opposing relationship such that upon closure the serations will mate and form a multiple lock. The container lid is pivotally mounted to the container top through pivot points below the closure surface of the container top and the container top closure surface is generally inclined downwardly toward the pivot points.
