Abstract: A flexible closure for a container, such as a blow molded jug, having a neck portion with an inturned flexible flange surrounding an opening therein and a pair of vertically spaced fastening configurations on the exterior thereof; the closure having a cap portion with an annular depending flange on its peripheral edge and at least one depending annular flexible sealing flange inwardly thereof for engagement with said inturned flange on said neck portion. A tear skirt is removably attached to the annular depending flange, the tear skirt having a pull tab for the removal thereof. An out-turned annular flange is formed on said tear skirt and a plurality of circumferencially placed gussets join said angular flange and said tear skirt. The closure has dual fastening configurations, either one of which is capable of holding the closure on the neck portion of the container.

Abstract: An improved press-on bottle cap is disclosed in which the cap comprises a top disk and a thin-walled outer skirt dependent therefrom with an annular tear band which, when separated from the cap, divides the cap into a lower ring and an upper reclosure cap. An annular lip is provided about the outside wall of the cap, approximately in the middle of the reclosure cap and the tear tab, which is integral with the tear band, extends upwardly into contact with the underside of the annular lip. Preferably, the lip is discontinuous with an open sector above the tear tab, and the cap is fabricated without the necessity to use a split-cavity mold, and a preferred mold construction is also disclosed. A compressible, plastic foam gasket is employed in the cap to seal the container contents. A foam gasket is seated on the undersurface of the cap in a position to bear against the upper end of the neck of the container which is received in the cap.

Abstract: A cap for a wide-mouth container has a short inner skirt and a longer outer skirt. The outer skirt has upper and lower internal locking beads which are preferably interrupted with gaps between bead sections. Above the lower locking bead is a circumferential score line. A portion of the outer skirt below the score line is cut away to form a pull tab extending parallel to the score line. The cap has a peripheral flange the underside of which slants downward-inward. The container neck is thin walled, having an internal top flange terminating in a first sealing surface which bears against the top of the inner skirt, a groove below the last-mentioned surface and a second sealing surface below the groove which also bears against the inner skirt. The neck also has upper and lower external beads each having shoulders on their lower edges under which the upper and lower internal locking beads of the cap seat. The neck curves outward in a lower shoulder immediately below the bottom edge of the skirt.

Abstract: A tamper indicating cover seals the closure of a cap container. The cover is secured to the container by means of a safety band secured over an annular protrusion on the container. The safety band has visual indicia different from the remainder of the cover so that when a pull tab on the safety band is pulled, the indicia controling safety band is removed. As the safety band is removed, the remainder of the plastic cover is torn as a result of a helical tear line which may be a stress pattern or a thread embedded in the plastic cover. The cover is secured to the container by heat fusing or other means between the safety band and the protrusion on the container.

Abstract: A cap for opening and extracting the contents of a vessel provided with a neck and an extraction end closed by a removable attachment connected to the vessel neck by a weakened zone, the cap having an open end for engagement over the vessel neck whereby rotation of the cap relative to the vessel neck causes the attachment to be separated from the vessel neck at the weakened zone so that the contents of the vessel may be removed through an extraction opening in the cap.

Abstract: A container closure has a cap part which can be removed from and replaced upon an associated container as required and a tamper evident tear band which has to be removed from the closure before the cap part can be initially removed from the container. The tear band is connected to the skirt of the cap part by a number of spaced apart relatively strong frangible nibs, the spaces between the nibs being each filled by a relatively weak thin web of material.

Abstract: A tamper indicating closure cap of the type having a pivotable stopper closing a cap top orifice. The stopper has an integral flange overlying portions of the top and extending behind the pivotable member to preclude pivoting of the pivotable member. The flange is removable from the pivotable member and indicia formed in the container top underlying the flange is made visible by removal of the flange.

Abstract: To prevent tampering with the contents of containers, the neck of the container is formed with external beads with grooves under the lower surfaces of the beads. The cap has an outer skirt formed with internal beads which lock under the shoulders of the neck beads. Preferably, the cap has an inner skirt which seals against the inside of the container neck. To remove the cap, a score-line is formed extending upward from the bottom edge of the skirt and merging with a horizontal scoreline located between the two internal beads, so that one may grip a tab on the lower edge of the skirt, pull upward on the substantially vertically section and thence horizontally around the horizontal scoreline. Unless the skirt is thus torn, it cannot be removed from the neck and tearing of the skirt indicates tampering with the contents of the container.

Abstract: A cap or closure for a pharmaceutical vial includes a fill hole to permit filling of the vial with the cap in place. In one form the vial and cap assembly comprises an open-top vial covered by a cap having a depending peripheral skirt. The inner surface of the cap skirt and the outer surface of the vial are provided with complementary mating interlock elements that preclude manual removal of the cap. The cap includes an integral tear member, defined by one or more weakened, partially circumferential weakened junction lines, such that pulling away the tear member along the junction line allows both manual removal of the cap and ready visual confirmation that vial integrity has been breached. The cap includes a fill hole permitting the filling of the vial with the cap in place. The fill hole is closed, after filling, by a resilient stopper having a configuration effectively precluding its manual removal, so that post-filling tampering and contamination are precluded.

Abstract: An improved safety closure device and a method for making same are described. A cylindrical closure element adapted to close the mouth of a bottle or the like by frictional engagement with the interior facing surface of the mouth is joined via a cap portion to a cylindrical retainer collar, extending substantially coaxial with the closure element, by an intercoupling means comprising a tabbed tear strip and a tether strip. The tear strip and the tether strip are integrally formed in a helical configuration extending from the closure element to the collar. The tether strip and tear strip are joined by a pair of frangible webs of a preselected thickness which permit the tear strip to be manually removed. The collar and intercoupling section, including the cap portion thereof, are molded as a unitary structure. The closure element is formed as a separate unitary structure and is secured mechanically to the intercoupling means preferably by a snap-fit means about the periphery of one end of the closure element.

Abstract: A molded safety closure device and a method for making same are described. A cylindrical closure element adapted to close the mouth of a bottle or the like by frictional engagement with the interior facing surface of the mouth is supported on the bottle by a cylindrical retainer collar extending substantially coaxial with the closure element. The retainer collar is connected to the closure element by intercoupling means comprising a tabbed tear strip and a tether strip. The tear strip and the tether strip are integrally formed in a helical configuration extending one or more turns from the closure element to the collar. Abstract: A child-resistant package with a snap-on closure comprising a container having a neck finish including an annular retaining bead having at least one notch therein and a closure having a top and a peripheral skirt. The skirt has a lifting tab on the outer surface thereof and a first radially inwardly extending locking lug on the inner surface thereof adjacent the external lifting tab. A cover cap having a top wall and a peripheral wall is placed over the closure and the peripheral wall of the cover surrounds the peripheral skirt of the closure. An annular band is connected to the lower edge of the peripheral wall of the cover cap by weakened portions. The band includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced radially inwardly extending lugs that project beneath the free edge of the peripheral skirt of the closure so that the cover cap cannot be removed until the band is first removed by severing it from the closure cap.

Abstract: A child-resistant package with a snap-on closure comprising a container having a neck finish including an annular retaining bead having at least one notch therein and a closure having a top wall and peripheral skirt, the skirt having a lifting tab on the outer surface thereof and a radially inwardly extending locking lug on the inner surface thereof adjacent the external lifting tab. The closure includes a tamper indicating band attached to the skirt by a plurality of circumferentially attached bridge portions. The band is formed with a plurality of circumferentially spaced vertical ribs.

Abstract: A closure cap for a container comprises an inner cap which can be screwed onto the neck of a bottle, and an outer cap which covers and surrounds the inner cap. The outer cap has a tamper evident rim part of which extends into an annular groove in the inner cap. Portions on the top of the inner cap can be brought into engagement with portions provided under the top of the outer cap following downward movement of the outer cap. This downward movement of the outer cap enables rotation of the outer cap to effect removal of the cap, but such downward movement is only possible after the tamper evident rim has been removed.

Abstract: This invention provides a tubular container body and closure assembly with a smooth or flush outside surface. The assembly is provided with bayonet type child resistant closure and tear away tamper resistant band. The container body has a recess to receive a teartab on the tear away band so that the flush outside surface is maintained, the recess in the body being so positioned that when the tear tab is aligned with the recess an internal bead on the closure forming part of the bayonet type locking arrangement is aligned with an external locking slot on the body so that the closure can be applied to the body by a longitudinal downward movement.

Abstract: A tamper indicating child resistant package including a screw type closure for use with a container having a threaded neck portion. The package is comprised of a lock member on a container adjacent to the threaded neck, a closure having a top with coaxial inner and outer skirts, one or more lock elements depending from the outer skirt. The lock member is engageable with the lock elements to deflect the outer skirt to permit clearance of the lock elements and lock member upon closing of the closure relative to the container. The lock element is further deflectable radially outwardly upon radial inward squeezing of the outer skirt to clear the lock member upon removal of the closure from the container. A tamper indicating means is provided to maintain the lock element in circumferentially aligned relationship relative to the lock member, and is further provided with stop elements to cooperatively engage the stop lugs on the container.

Abstract: A plastic cap has a tearable outer skirt depending from a top disc, the interior of the skirt having means engaging with cooperating means on a container neck to hold the cap in place until the lower portion of the skirt is torn. To prevent dishonest persons from defeating the tamper resistant character of the cap by prying upward on the bottom edge of the cap skirt, a shoulder has been formed on the neck fitting closely under the bottom edge of the cap skirt. To further reduce such prying, a series of protrusions is formed on the shoulder with spaces between the protrusions. The protrusions inhibit fingernails from access to the lower edge of the skirt. The bumper ring which cooperates with loading grippers is interrupted by straight sections which prevent collapse of the bumper ring when the cap is applied.

Abstract: The invention provides a container closure with a top, a skirt depending from the top, a tear-away tamper resistant band connected to the skirt by frangible means and a tear tab on the band arranged so that it is inclined upwardly and outwardly in order to ensure that when a container with a closure in position is being packed into a carbon bottom end first the tear tab on the closures does not catch on the rim of the carton. Preferably the tear tab is connected by a frangible tongue to a thumb push on the skirt and disposed immediately above the tear tab.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a tamper evident shroud for application to a moulded plastic or glass container having a closure and a protruding peripheral ridge of generally circular corss-section. The shroud has a cup-shaped body portion and an annular rim portion, the two portions being joined by a notch-line of weakness. The rim portion has an inwardly projecting peripheral ridge which engages the peripheral ridge of the container to resist removal of the shroud. The notch-line of weakness is designed to rupture upon unauthorized removal of the shroud, thereby providing visual evidence of tampering. To accommodate intentional opening of the container, the annular rim portion is adapted to be torn away from the body portion along the rupturable notch-line.

Abstract: A safety closure device for a bottle or the like is described. The device includes a cylindrical closure element which fits within the mouth of the bottle and which is restrained from flying free of the bottle by a cylindrical retainer collar which fits around the neck of the bottle. The closure element is attached to the collar by a tether strip which is molded integrally with the closure element and the collar and which tears free thereof, except for attachment to the collar and closure element at the ends of the tether. The tether is folded upon itself and when manually torn free, and is long enough to permit the closure element to be withdrawn from the bottle while still remaining tethered to the collar.

Abstract: A bottle closure cap stampable from sheet metal as a shallow cylindrical inverted dish having a rounded juncture forming a fillet between its crown and its cylindrical wall; a layer of elastomeric material being disposed in the fillet and engageable with the axial end of the bottle when the cap is attached. A generally radially extending rip tab is integral with the cylindrical wall at the bottom edge thereof and is adapted to tear through the cylindrical wall by a generally circumferential pull of the user to gain access to the container. A rip line is provided commencing at a corner defined by the bottom edge of the cylindrical wall where it meets the rip tab. At least one groove is formed in the rip tab extending in the inner surface of the side wall. The rip line extends at a shallow angle across the cylindrical wall, without crossing the groove, continuing to a level which is spaced below the crown, continuing parallel to the crown circumferentially about half-way around the closure cap.

Abstract: The present invention provides a reusable cover with a tearable tamper-proof band for the closing of a receptacle with which it is associated.The cover comprises an opening tongue which forms an integral part of the tamper-proof band before removal of the band and which is situated in such a manner that it is covered by a wrenching lever when the tamper-proof band is in position. The opening tongue is bounded, by two lateral lines of reduced resistance which tear during the wrenching off of the tamper-proof band and by a horizontal line of articulation of the tongue.

Abstract: The invention concerns an original-seal closure means made of plastic and for threaded mouths at containers, in particular bottles. The closure means includes a screw cap to which a hood is fastened with axial play. Studs are present at both the hood and the screw cap, which can be engaged and disengaged within the said axial play and which act as drive means. To secure the original seal, the screw cap is provided with tear-off elements which engage by means of claws underneath the retainer lip. When the mouth is sealed, the claws are held in this position by the hood. When the closure is opened the first time, the tear-off elements are perforce torn off. In additional child-proof design, a set of studs is designed in such a manner that they shall always act as drive means during the screwing shut process while they shall act thusly during unscrewing only if in addition to the torque an axial force is exerted toward the mouth.

Abstract: An inner seal for a container which has a hollow body for holding material, a threaded neck extending from the body to terminate in a lip which defines an opening, and a threaded cap for screwing onto the neck over the opening. The seal is comprised of a thin sheet of fracturable material for placement over the opening onto the lip. The peripheral portions of the material extend downwardly about and adhere to the exterior of the side walls of the neck. The seal is dimensioned to cover some of the threads of the neck so that screwing the cap onto the neck will aid in securing the seal about the side walls of the neck.

Abstract: A tamper-evident plastic closure cap construction which is intended to provide to the consumer a distinctive visual alerting indication in the event that the container has been previously opened or tampered with, comprising a closure portion and a base portion, the latter being snapped into position on the container and held permanently thereon by means of cooperable retainer shoulders. The closure portion seals off the dispensing orifice of the container in a usual manner. Joining the closure portion to the base portion are multiple frangible webs associated with an indicator ring which normally occupies a first or depressed position prior to opening of the container. When the closure portion is initially turned or otherwise disturbed, the frangible webs break, and their resilience causes the ring to shift laterally by a significant amount to a second or raised position, which attracts the attention of one handling the container.

Abstract: A tamper resistant closure for screw top and other containers is provided which resists and visibly discloses attempted tampering. A heat shrinkable plastic sleeve including at least one row of longitudinal mechanical weakness, such as a line of perforations, snuggly surrounds both the screw cap and a portion of the neck of the associated container. Sharp protruding teeth integral to the covered portion of the container neck interfere with the longitudinal weak areas when the shrunk sleeving is forcibly rotated during an attempted tampering, causing a portion of the plastic material to rupture and indicating tampering. By providing a second row of longitudinal weakness, such as a second closely spaced parallel line of perforations, a tear-away portion results whereby the features which provide indication of tampering also provide a convenient means for desired removal of the protective sleeve by the intended user.

Abstract: A flexible, snap-on closure for use in combination with a container neck in order to seal closed a container in a tamper-evident manner includes a flexible closure having a top surface, a cylindrical side wall, an inwardly protruding annular rib and an inwardly opening annular channel. The container neck is compatibly configured with a top rim defining the container opening and an outwardly opening annular channel disposed below the top rim such that the annular rib is configured to fit within the outwardly opening channel and the inwardly opening annular channel is configured to snugly receive the top rim. The closure further includes a bail handle attached to the side wall by means of two attachment ribs which are integral with the bail handle.

Abstract: A tamper indicating cover seals the closure end of a capped container. The cover is secured to the container by means of a safety band secured within an annular indent in the container. The safety band has visual indicia different from the remainder of the cover so that when a pull tab on the safety band is pulled, the indicia-containing safety band is removed. As the safety band is removed, the remainder of the plastic cover is torn as a result of a helical tear line which may be a stress pattern or a thread embedded in or disposed underneath the plastic cover. The cover is secured to the container by heat fusing or other means between the safety band and the indent of the container.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a closure formed of plastics material for use in conjunction with a container also formed of a plastics material. The closure is particularly adapted for use with containers in the form of bottles which are intended to have a product packaged therein under pressurized conditions. The closure cooperates with a lip of the bottle so as to radially inwardly deform the lip with the exterior surface of the lip forming a seal with the closure. The portion of the closure engaging the lip is drawn radially inwardly under pressure by the axial deformation of an end panel of the closure.

Abstract: A closure device for both smooth necked and threaded necked containers includes a tamperproof cap frangibly affixed to the container for selective removal by manipulation of the cover. Upon breaking the tamperproof seal by cover manipulation, the cap may be retained within the cover to avoid disposal problems and to serve as a sealing component when the container is resealed after initial opening occurs.

Abstract: A package closure includes a stopper adapted to be sealingly engageable with the opening of the package. The closure also includes a frangible member adapted to simultaneously seal the opening and carry the stopper in a disengaged position relative to the opening. Preferably, the stopper is engageable with the package opening in a child-proof manner. Breaking of the frangible member permits the child-proof package to be initially opened without requiring the package user to struggle with the child-proof stopper. The package contents may then be transferred to a package not having child-proof sealing means. Easy access to the contents of the package by the elderly or handicapped is thereby promoted.

Abstract: A child resistant closure cap is described which is easily applied to a threaded container and which thereafter may not be removed without the initial removal of a tamper indicating band so that the closure is also tamper-evident.

Abstract: An oral liquid dose vial and seal combination is disclosed which requires no crimping or other tools for assembly. A graduated vial of the combination has a circumferential external lip substantially adjacent to its mouth. A unitary plastic seal for the vial has a base plate and an endless rib protruding from the base plate. The rib is configured to fit into the mouth of the vial and to sealingly engage interior walls of the vial. A lip rims the circumference of the base plate and includes inwardly protruding ribs which engage the lip of the vial. A grippable tab is attached to the lip of the seal. Portions of the lip of the vial have thin walls so as to be frangible and to break when the tab is pulled upwardly with a force exceeding a predetermined threshold level. When the frangible portions of the lip of the vial break, the lip partially separates from the base plate, and the entire seal is pulled off the vial by the upwardly directed force.

Abstract: A reclosable valve stem actuated valve structure for aerosol-type containers and the like is provided which has an external seal that includes a seal member, a bonding agent, and a separatable frangible zone. The external seal is installed after the valve structure is associated with a container and after a container filling operation of the type where filling is accomplished through the valve structure.

Abstract: A plastic cover fits over the top and partially down the sides of a corked wine bottle. Such a bottle conventionally has an external bead a short distance below the top of the neck. The cover has a skirt formed with a complementary bead which fits tightly over such bead, the plastic material stretching sufficiently for the cover to lock into place so that it cannot be removed with the skirt intact. A tear strip is formed substantially circumferentially around the cap bead by a pair of vertically spaced score-lines. The skirt is grooved to form a tear tab which extends circumferentially along a portion of the bottle bead. By tearing off the tear strip the portion of the cap thereabove can be removed. As a supplemental means of access for removal of the cork, the top disc of the cap may be formed with a circular score-line.

Abstract: To prevent tampering with the contents of containers for pharmaceuticals and other products, a plastic cap which is an improvement upon U.S. Pat. Nos. 3,338,446 and 4,166,552. The neck of the container is sealed with a commercially available foil seal; the cap is dimensioned so that the foil seal is inserted inside the cap prior to its being applied to the container. The dimensions of the cap accommodate the foil seal yet the snap-on and the tamper-proof features of the cap are maintained. At intervals, scorelines are formed extending upward from the bottom of the cap skirt; these tear if one attempts to pry the cap off the container and are visible evidence of the tampering.

Abstract: A tamperproof lid for a container, in which a toothed ring portion must be substantially completely removed from its connection to the remainder of the lid and also from contact with the rim of the container in order to open the container, thus providing protection against tampering with the contents of the container. The lower portion of the lid outer periphery is provided with toothed or segmented sections extending around the circumference of the lid. Upon an attempt being made to raise the lid, the teeth will engage the lower surface of the container rim in a tight, firm construction which tends to hold more tightly as any attempt is made to remove the lid. Thus the lid of the invention may not be removed without destroying the seal which the lid makes with the rim of the container.

Abstract: A plastic container and a one-piece molded plastic lid for the container are provided with a tamper resistant, hermetic seal. The lid includes a top wall and a surrounding depending sidewall. The sidewall has a thin upper web upper portion and a relatively thick lower skirt portion. The mouth of the container includes a circumferential lip. The thin web deforms as the lid is snap fitted onto the container. The deformable web stretches into close conformity and sealing engagement with the lip of the container, the lower skirt region of the lid maintaining the web in a tightly constricted configuration about the lip. The skirt is sealed to the sidewall of the plastic container by a circumferential sealing strip formed integrally with and extending downwardly from the lower edge of the lid skirt. The lower portion of the sealing strip is attached directly to the sidewall of the plastic container by adhesive or welding.

Abstract: A molded tethered safety closure device for use on bottles containing pressurized liquids such as champagne or sparkling wines comprising a cork or closure element and a retainer collar joined by an intercoupling section. The intercoupling section is comprised of a tabbed tear strip and a tether strip that are integrally formed in a helical configuration extending in a plurality of turns from the cork to the collar. The tether strip and the tear strip are interconnected by a pair of grooved frangible webs that can be torn by pulling on the tear strip. This allows the tear strip to be manually removed from the intercoupling section. Following removal of the tear strip, the helical tether strip interconnects the cork and the retainer collar, thus enabling the cork to be released from the bottle without flying free.

Abstract: A container having a threaded neck is provided with a removal resistant cap which can be applied to the container neck by rotational thrust. The cap has a depending skirt having an internally threaded lower section with the threads terminating in a bead intermediate the ends of the skirt. The neck has an upper threaded section with the threads terminating in a bead spaced below the top of the neck. When the threads of the cap are engaged with the threads of the neck and the cap is rotated relative to the neck, the skirt will circumferentially expand so that the skirt bead passes over the neck bead. At that point, the threads will no longer engage and the interlocked beads will inhibit removal of the cap. Means are provided to enhance removability of the cap from the neck by tearing away a portion of the skirt.

Abstract: A tamperproof closure has a raised top and a depending tearable guarantee strip. The strip has a tongue extending upward to the level of the upper edge of the top.

Abstract: A pharmaceutical vial and cap assembly of the kind comprising an open-top vial covered by a cap with a depending peripheral skirt, the inner surface of the cap skirt and the outer surface of the vial having complementary mating interlock elements that preclude manual removal of the cap, the cap including an integral tear member, defined by one or more weakened junction lines, such that pulling away the tear member allows ready manual removal of the cap; the cap top includes a fill hole that for filling the vial with the cap in place, and the fill hole is closed, after filling, by a resilient stopper having a configuration effectively precluding manual removal, so that post-filling tampering and contamination are precluded. The stopper is preferably molded together with the cap, being connected to the cap by an integral strap.

Abstract: This invention provides a container and closure assembly in which the container has an open mouth, a rim around the mouth, a cut-out in the rim and annular closure retaining means below the rim and in which the closure has a top to close the mouth of the container, an inner depending plug to enter the mouth of the container, a tear band, means shaped to engage with the closure retaining means on the container and a thumb-receiving recess in the plug.

Abstract: This invention provides a closure which is both tamper-resistant and child-resistant. The closure has a cap part including a top and a skirt, a tear band and a captive band, the tear band being connected to the skirt and to the captive band by lines of weakness and tell tale bridge members are provided so that the tear band cannot be removed without breaking the bridge members to provide the tamper-resistant feature. To provide the child-resistant feature the skirt of the cap part has an internal projection which can pass through an opening in an arcuate bead on an associated container only when the cap part is turned into a predetermined position.

Abstract: A cap for a wide-mouth container has a short inner skirt and a longer outer skirt. The outer skirt has upper and lower internal locking beads which are preferably interrupted with gaps between bead sections. Above the lower locking bead is a circumferential score line. A portion of the outer skirt below the score line is cut away to form a pull tab extending parallel to the score line. The cap has a peripheral flange the undersigned of which slants downward-inward. The container neck is thin walled, having an internal top flange terminating in a first sealing surface which bears against the top of the inner skirt, a groove below the last-mentioned surface and a second sealing surface below the groove which also bears against the inner skirt. The neck also has upper and lower external beads each having shoulders on their lower edges under which the upper and lower internal locking beads of the cap seat. The neck curves outward in a lower shoulder immediately below the bottom edge of the skirt.

Abstract: A plastic closure or cap of the tamper indicating type for sealing a container has collar means that frictionally grasp the rim of the container and an outer collar part which has a latch cooperating with a catch on the rim. The cap has a pull tab which facilitates tearing the collar part from the rim to separate the latch from the catch. The cap also has a material receiving opening having an irremovable closure plug. The plug may be carried by a tongue attached to the cap or it may be independent of the cap. The material receiving opening may have a lower end portion closed by a wall that may be penetrated by a hollow needle to fill the container.

Abstract: A container neck has a bead mating with the internal bead on the lower end of the skirt of a sifter fitment. A plastic tamper-proof cap fits over the fitment and has a skirt having two vertically spaced internal beads locking under the shoulders of external beads on the container neck. The cap skirt has a first score line immediately above the lower internal cap bead and a second score line extending from the first score line to the bottom edge of the cap skirt. Preferably both the internal cap beads are interrupted. The cap has a peripheral flange, the underside of which slants downward-inward.
