Abstract: A hybrid welding apparatus, and a system and method for welding at least two adjacent components having a large gap of approximately 3.0 millimeters that results in a full-penetration weld is provided. The welding system includes a hybrid welder having a defocused laser beam, an electric arc welder, and at least one bridge piece adjacent to one or more of the at least two adjacent components. The defocused laser beam and the electric arc welder are arranged and disposed to direct energy onto the at least two adjacent components to create a common molten pool operable to provide a full penetration weld to bridge the gap at a high constant weld speed, thereby joining the two adjacent components with a weld.

Abstract: An arc welding robot having a welding wire conduit which has a bend radius above a certain level and arranged so that disadvantageous stress is not applied to the conduit by the motion of the robot arm. A conduit for a welding wire is inserted through a hole of a robot pedestal from the rear side of the robot, is supported by a second support member arranged on the pedestal, extends near the front side of a rotating body of the robot, and is supported by a first support member on the upper part of the rotating body while having a required minimum bend radius. The conduit after passing through the first support member is introduced to the rear side of the upper arm and is connected to a connector at the rear side of a wire feeder while having the required minimum radius, whereby the conduit presents a generally S-shape.

Abstract: A method for arc welding can control the increase slopes of the short-circuit current and the inflection point of the increase slopes in the welding start period to be smaller than in the steady-state welding period. Thus, the increase slopes of the short-circuit current and the inflection point are made different between the welding start period and the steady-state welding period, thereby reducing sputtering in the welding start period.

Abstract: The invention provides a compact and economical welding control system having an integrated power section. To this end, a switching module is provided for the power section of a welding control system. The switching module has a switching device, at least one cooling body, a current supply and an insulating element which provides a potential-free coolant arrangement. The invention is advantageous in that the potential-free coolant arrangement allows the coolant bodies to be shortened so that less space is required inside the control system and the control system can therefore have a more compact structure. The invention enables even the requirements in terms of the coolant bodies to be reduced, allowing the use of cost-effective cooling tubes or even cooling pipes that are directly connected to the cooling body.
