Patent number: 5811769Abstract: A method of sterilizing an object having the steps of providing a container with an exterior surface that has a microwave interactive layer and defines an interior space having an initial temperature. An object is then placed within the interior space of the container. Next, the microwave interactive layer is exposed to a first amount of microwaves so that the layer produces heat which raises the temperature within the interior space to a predetermined sterilization temperature. The predetermined sterilization temperature is then maintained within the interior space for an amount of time sufficient to sterilize the object.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1996Date of Patent: September 22, 1998Assignee: Quiclave, L.L.C.Inventors: Robert Frank Schiffmann, Jeffery Scott Held

Apparatus for sensing whether food disposed on a raisable tray of a microwave oven contacts a heater
Patent number: 5811768Abstract: A microwave oven has a cooking chamber in which a tray is provided for supporting food to be cooked. The tray is rotatable and can be raised and lowered. Cooking can be performed by microwaves and/or an electric resistance heater disposed in the cooking chamber. A sensor disposed in the cooking chamber detects a condition wherein food on the rising tray is at a height corresponding to that of the heater. In response to the sensing of such a condition the heater is turned off, a mechanism for raising the tray is also turned off, and a warning is emitted.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1997Date of Patent: September 22, 1998Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Won-Woo Choi, Seok-Weon Hong, Kwang-Seok Kang -

Patent number: 5804800Abstract: A microwave oven includes a cooking chamber in which a turn table is disposed for rotation about a vertical axis, and vertical up/down movement along the axis. The turn table has an axle extending downwardly therefrom along the axis. The lower end of the axle rests on a cam surface of a rotary cam member whereby the cam surface causes the axle (and thus the turn table) to alternately move up and down when the rotary cam member is rotated by a first motor. A second motor is connected to the axle to simultaneously rotate the axle and turn table. A traction member is fixed to the rotary cam and overlies a portion of the axle. The traction member extends along a portion of the cam surface which causes the axle to move downwardly, whereby the traction member can pull the axle downwardly if the axle does not properly gravitate downwardly.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1997Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Eung-Sup Lee, Suk-Jin Han

Patent number: 5365043Abstract: A high speed microwave high temperature oven system mounts an enclosed furnace in its cavity and extends a temperature probe therein. A controller regulates the furnace temperature by periodically interrupting over a range, the operation of the magnetron as the furnace or actual temperature approaches the setpoint. It interrupts the operation of the magnetron for longer periods of time as the actual temperature nears the setpoint. If the actual temperature exceeds the setpoint, the operation of the magnetron is interrupted for even longer periods of time. The controller at a selected furnace temperature also activates an exhaust function to remove hot air, smoke and fumes from and draw clean air into the furnace. As the actual temperature lowers towards the setpoint, the controller shortens the period of magnetron operation interruption. When the furnace temperature cools to a safe temperature, the controller shuts off the exhaust function.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1991Date of Patent: November 15, 1994Assignee: North Atlantic Equipment Sales, Inc.Inventor: Gary R. Patent number: 5357088Abstract: A method for making a photographic composition gel ready for use in production from a good preservative frozen state, causing no change in photographic properties, wherein a photographic composition gel is melted to a sol by placing a light shielding dielectric preservative container holding lumps of a photographic composition gel in a dielectric heating apparatus which generates high frequencies capable of penetrating to a depth corresponding to the size of the above photographic composition gel lumps, and melting the photographic composition gel to a sol by irradiating the lumps of gel with the above high frequencies from the outside of the container.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1992Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Konica CorporationInventors: Shinichi Suzuki, Hideaki Kimura, Kazuyoshi Ichikawa, Sanae Oyama

Patent number: 5278379Abstract: A continuous denitration apparatus by microwave heating comprises an oven into which microwaves are applied and a cylindrical rotary drum disposed horizontally and rotatably disposed inside the oven. The rotary drum has the outer peripheral surface composed of a honeycomb or porous sheet-like microwave dielectric member. Inside the oven are disposed a trough for storing a nitrate solution of a nuclear fuel material below the rotary drum so as to immerse a lower portion of the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum in the solution stored inside the trough, a heater above the rotary drum so as to heat the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum opposing the heater, and a scraper for scraping off a denitrated product formed on the outer peripheral surface of the roatray drum between the heater and the trough.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1991Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Assignee: Doryokuro Kakunenryo Kaihatsu JigyodanInventor: Yoshiharu Takanashi
