A sealing member is formed to the annular bottom for closing the dispensing aperture. The outer skirt optionally includes a hingedly flexible flap having one or more gussets dimensioned to cooperate with the anti-rotation structure of a neck finish.

When a consumer forces a finger into the seal when bonded to the rim of a container the applied pressure forces the seal to break open and tear only in the weaker area of the void configuration while the peripheral portion of the seal remains bonded to the container rim. The broken open center portion of the seal then forms a pull tab that can be partially connected which allows the pull tab to be lifted back out and pulled from the container.

Abstract: An container sealing material suitable for sealing a container comprises a liner sheet (liner), a sealant sheet, and an interlayer portion (interlayer) bound between the liner and the sealant sheet by individual layers of wax. The material has a closure-contacting surface and a heat-sealable surface. At least one of the surfaces of the liner and the interlayer that contacts a layer of wax is capable of absorbing liquid wax when the layer of wax is melted. At least one of the surfaces of the sealant sheet and interlayer which contacts a layer of wax is capable of absorbing liquid wax when the layer of wax is melted. The liner and the sealant sheet each release from the interlayer when sufficient heat is applied to the container sealing material to melt the layers of wax. The interlayer can include printed matter visible on one or both of its surfaces (e.g., a logo, proof-of-purchase indicator, and the like). The printed matter can include promotional indica for a product, a service, a game and the like.

Abstract: The invention concerns a closure with pouring means comprising a first part including pouring means (4) and a base (3) having a skirt for being fixed to the body of the container and first rigid fixing means for a second part including a cap (6) having a top wall, a skirt (20) and sealing means (22) for the pouring means (4), means (7) for pivoting the cap (6) and second rigid fixing means complementary of the first rigid fixing means. The pivoting means (7), located transversely plumb over the skirt of the cap (6), comprise a globally hollow deformable part delimited by an upper arc-shaped segment of reduced thickness belonging to the skirt (20), by a lower arc-shaped segment of reduced thickness belonging to the second fixing means, and by two axially oriented free edges, such that when the stopper is opened, the pivoting angle of the cap may be of the order of 180°.

Abstract: In an embodiment of the invention there is provided a membrane fitment designed and sized to be inserted into the orifice defined by a container. Retention structure on the fitment cooperates with complimentary structure on the internal wall of the container orifice to secure the fitment within the orifice such that the combination forms an excellent primary seal. Tamper evidence is offered by the normal requirement for initial membrane removal. Novel designs for the membrane, its associated pull ring, and the frangible removal structure are taught in various embodiments. The novel designs may promote facile initial removal suitable for a child. In addition, the novel designs avoid the potential hazards presented by prior art membranes.

The cap portion-is rotated so that the rivets are pushed inwardly against the can below the can rolled lip to hold and effect a seal between the O-ring and the upper end of the carbonated beverage can.

The sanitary cover 8 is designed to cover the area around the opening piece 3a defined on the top lid 50 by a depressed seam 3c, thus protecting the lip contact portion of the top lid 50 from atmospheric impurities and keeping the can sanitary during storage of the can. The sanitary cover 8 also has a reinforced opener part 13 which presses down the opening piece 3a and breaks the piece 3a along the depressed seam 3c when the cover 8 is levered up. The opener part 13 has a reinforcing rib 13b improving the stiffness of the opener part 13, and so the opener part 13 reliably breaks the opening piece 3a without failure even though a high pressure acts on the interior surface of the opening piece 3a.
