  • Patent number: 6631629
Abstract: An article surveillance includes a pair of components that are detachably connected together having a releasably grasping device engaging with an article intended to be protected. The device is coupled between the two components with a selected one of the components having an elongated prong insertably received within the other component and is held thereto by a ball clutch mechanism. The mechanism includes a tapered housing with an internal tapered wall surface enclosing a plug member having at least two balls carried in opposing grooves. The tapered housing and the plug member include a coaxial passageway for insertably receiving the elongated prong from the first component. The plug member is resiliently biased to a first position by an expansion spring causing the balls to bear against the tapered inner wall of the housing, restricting the passageway.

  • Publication number: 20030136791
Abstract: Vacuum producing appliance and associated food and beverage holding vessels, the vacuum producing appliance with a hollow housing, the housing enclosing a vacuum pump, a pressure switch, a vacuum holding tank, a solenoid valve, a power switch, and associated tubing to attach the components to each other. A conical shaped concavity built into the bottom of said housing capable of drawing air from a vessel and passing it through said vacuum. A plurality of vessel sealing lids interact with the vacuum producing appliance, said lids having a convex conical shape at their top surface that can interface in an air tight way with a mating concave conical shape located in said main housing, said lids having a check valve that allows air to leave said lid but not reenter it. The lids are capable of interfacing in an air tight way with the mouth of a jar, bottle, can or the like so that a vacuum can be drawn in said jar, bottle or can.

  • Patent number: 5249704
Abstract: A sealing cap, for use on the valve of a barrel having an opening with a collar and a valve sealing plate, is made of plastics and is of the type which is damaged during opening. The cap comprises a cover plate and a cylindrical guide. Locking elements are disposed on an inner side of said cylindrical guide, and, in use, engage resiliently under the collar such that the valve sealing plate covers said locking elements at the top, and said cylindrical guide covers said locking elements towards the outside. Narrow radially aligned webs are provided on one part of said cover plate, which webs frangibly connect said cover plate and said cylindrical guide.

  • Patent number: 3994414
Abstract: A sealing strip guide which is utilized in combination with a container having a sealing strip thereabout and a key which engages the sealing strip to remove the same from the container to thereby open it. The guide is an enclosed unitary member having one open side with slots extending from the open side edges in opposed side walls for receiving the key therein. One side edge and a portion of the end walls projects beyond the other side edge and remainder of the open walls to provide a notched or recessed portion to accomodate the bead which extends around the upper edge of most containers employing a sealing strip. The inner face of the side wall adjacent the recessed portion includes an inclined surface portion for assisting in guiding the sealing strip into the interior of the sealing strip guide as the strip is removed from the container.
