The packaging material comprises at least one base layer that imparts stiffness, at least one lamination layer applied to and covering the base layer; and a removable portion which, in use, is partly detachable from a remainder of the sheet packaging material and foldable at a folding zone to free a pour opening by which to pour the food product from the package. The removable portion comprises at least one aperture formed at least in the base layer and covered by a cover material, and the removable portion is crossed by one of the fold lines defining in use an edge between two walls of the package.

Abstract: A substantially paper-based composite container for an off-gassing product includes a paperboard can body having a substantially gas-impervious liner attached to an inner surface thereof, and a pair of substantially paper-based end closures attached to the opposite ends of the can body, each end closure defining a generally cylindrical sealing panel in contact with an inner surface of the can body. Heat-sealable materials are disposed on opposing surfaces of the sealing panel and can body. The sealing panels of the end closures are attached to the can body by heat seals. The heat seal for at least one of the end closures is discontinuous such that at least one vent channel extends through the heat seal so as to establish fluid communication between an interior of the composite container and the environment outside the composite container. The at least one vent channel is operable to vent excess gas pressure from the interior of the container.

Abstract: A liquid containment device and method for containing leakage from a liquid reservoir. The liquid containment device comprises a base and a peripheral wall that comprises flexible resilient folds that allow a portion of the peripheral wall to be flattened against the floor to slide the liquid containment device under the liquid reservoir. The peripheral wall is resilient and returns readily to a position where it extends upwardly from the base when released. The liquid containment device can be installed by lifting slightly a reservoir, flattening a portion of the peripheral wall, sliding it under the reservoir until the flattened portion protrudes past the far edge of the reservoir whereupon it resiliently regains its shape forming a receptacle under the reservoir. Abstract: A device for dispensing a dental material comprises a container for containing the material and an outlet which is closed by a closure. A breakable seal is arranged between the closure and the container. The device further is operable between a storage position in which the outlet is closed and an operational position in which the outlet is open. An initial operation toward the operational position causes the seal to break, whereby the closure is captured in the device. The device may provide a relatively long shelf life for the material, and may facilitate preparation of the material for use.

A frangible hinge is formed between a top pinch segment peripherally projecting from the lid rim flange and a bottom pinch segment peripherally projecting from the base rim flange. The frangible hinge is configured to rupture when the container is in the initially sealed arrangement by the application of a pinching force to the top pinch segment and bottom pinch segment that results in the relative vertical movement of the segments toward each other. As compared to the prior art, the container hinges about a frangible vertex instead of hinging about a square-shaped structure.

Abstract: A lid for a container is described. The lid has a basin that is designed to enhance the user's olfactory experience when drinking a beverage from the container and lid. As the user tilts the container and lid to take a drink, the beverage pours through an opening on the basin valley and flows across a sipping surface area to the user's mouth, thus allowing the beverage to aerate, evaporate, and cool. The basin is sized and dimensioned to channel and concentrate the vapor rising from the beverage towards the user's nose as the user sips the beverage. The basin and the opening are sized and dimensioned to provide a comfortable and secure feeling when drinking hot beverages. In this manner, the lid enhances the drinker's olfactory experience and provides better controllability of the flow of a hot beverage to prevent burn injuries.

The frangible hinge is configured to rupture when the container is in the initially sealed arrangement by the application of a pinching force to the top pinch segment and bottom pinch segment that results in the relative vertical movement of the segments toward each other. The sign modules may be affixed to a generally planar surface or supported on internal or external mounting posts. During installation, the rear section may be mounted first and the front section subsequently attached to the rear section. In this way only approximately one-half of the total weight of the sign need be lifted and manipulated at any one time thereby facilitating installation. The interior cavity defined by the front and rear sections may accommodate lighting means for internally lighting the sign.

On an intermediate layer of the outer cap, below the upper bore, there are a plurality of downwardly extending teeth. The tamper resistant cap is releasably securable onto a neck of the container by engagement with the threaded inner surface and removable therefrom by applying a downward force to the outer cap to mesh the upwardly and downwardly extending teeth. The central bore is engageable with a frangible post of the container to effect removal thereof.

The cover includes a downwardly depending skirt that releasably secures the cover in a closed position on the container to at least two corners of the container. The cover further has a plurality of protrusions on the skirt exposed substantially parallel to the lower edge of the downwardly depending skirt around the corners of the cover. Each protrusion may be sized, constructed and arranged for engaging a bead which circumscribes the container whereby tension placed on the cover when removing the cover from one corner of the container generates additional force on the remaining corner thus making the cover harder to open.

Abstract: A container having a locking mechanism with integrated tamper evident attribute is provided. In one embodiment, a male portion of geometrically shaped protrusions are provided on the lid or base of the container. A female portion of geometrically shaped openings corresponding to the male portion is provided on the base or lid of the container, respectively. A perforation is provided around the male portion such that once the male portion is locked into the female portion, the only means to open the container is to tear the perforation and cause the male portion to be removed from the lid or base of its origin. The tamper evident feature becomes apparent when the lid is pulled to open the container. The tension created when the lid is lifted in an upward motion will tear the male portion of the perforated lock away from the lid leaving it securely locked into the female base.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tip cap assembly for closing a distal opening of a receptacle like a syringe body or a tube in a sealed manner, and to a method for producing the tip cap. A cap assembly according to the invention comprises a frangible tip of a receptacle, preferably a pre-filled receptacle. An upper portion of the tip closes the receptacle respectively a lower tip portion comprising a passage as known from the state of the art. Hence, the receptacle is reliably sealed to prevent contamination or loss of the medication. Compared with the state of the art, a receptacle has a more effectively sealed tip. It is necessary to break the upper tip portion away in order to open the receptacle. A cap element protects the tip on one side. On the other side, unscrewing the cap breaks the upper portion away without hurting a person.

Abstract: Two embodiments of a molded plastic container/closure combination are described. Each can be structured to provide a child resistant opening feature and, optionally, a tamper-evident feature. In both embodiments, the closure has radially extending bayonets arranged around an outer skirt, which bayonets can be rotated into a position underlying semi-annular ribs in a beam molded integrally with the sidewall of the container. Rotation of the closure in the unlocking direction is opposed by a structure which requires depression of a release tab downwardly.
