The present invention provides a sealing system for sealing a container comprising material, wherein the system comprises at least a first part which is a cap for sealing a container comprising a seal; and a second part which is a coupling member that is mounted to a dispenser unit, wherein the coupling of both parts with each other is configured that they can be twisted against each other while preventing axial movement of first and second part.

Abstract: The closure adapted to cover a container aperture defines a retention projection dimensioned to be received in a retention aperture in a wall of the container. An insertion surface on the projection avoids the closure being impeded by an edge of the wall. The projection defines a disengagement surface to remove the projection from the retention aperture and defines a registering surface opposite the registering surface. The closure may be fitted agnostic to the rotational alignment of the closure relative to wall and then twisted relative to the container until resistance is provided by the registering surfaces engaging Automated closure requires only two degrees of movement and only two force sensors.

Abstract: A container cover and assembly provide an extremely low profiled edge to the container cover when the container cover is secured or attached to a complementary container. Using such a low profile results in less of an edge being exposed such that its profile works to prevent inadvertent opening of the hinged lid from the container cover and also prevent removal of the container cover from the container. The container cover comprises two halves that are integrally-molded. The two halves are connected by a common pivot point or hinge that is disposed to one side of each half which allows the halves to be folded over and onto one another. The structure of the container cover and integrally-formed hinged lid can be formed using a one-shot plastic injection molding process. This simplifies and speeds up the production process for manufacturing the container cover and hinged lid combination.

A latching rim proximate the upper edge latches with a corresponding latching rim on the lid. The latching rims of the container and the lid, respectively, extend at least partially around a circumference of the same. The container lateral wall includes a peripheral skirt having a sub-region extending radially outwardly from the lateral wall. The lid includes a lower lid rim on the outside of the container and at least one extension extending outside the lateral wall of the container. The extension extends below the lower rim of the lid and at least partially penetrates the skirt of the container. The extension and the container include corresponding fixing devices releasable independently of the latching devices formed by the latching rims of the container and the lid.

Abstract: Forming a proximal anastomosis on an aortic wall includes method and instrumentation and apparatus for forming an aortic puncture and inserting into the vessel through the puncture a fluid-impervious sealing element with a protruding retainer. An anastomosis of a graft vessel over the puncture is partially completed with the retainer of the sealing element protruding through the partial anastomosis. The retainer facilitates removal of the sealing element from the partial anastomosis prior to completion of the procedure.

Abstract: An improved package precursor, resealable package, assembly, and methods and systems for their manufacture. In a first aspect, the precursor comprises a wrapper and at least one primary seal region of the wrapper. The reseal region comprises a cold-seal-adhesive-coated region and is configured to adhere to itself when pressed against itself. The cold-seal-adhesive-coated region can be located on an interior region of the wrapper that does not overlap the primary seal region, thereby avoiding interference with primary seals. The reseal region of the wrapper is configured to form at least a portion of a product containment surface of the package and at least a portion of a product-facing surface of the package. In a second aspect, the improved package precursor forms an improved resealable package for a product. In a third aspect, an assembly comprises the improved resealable package and a product contained by the package.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to containers and packaging that incorporate novel tamper evident features. In particular, the containers of the present invention comprise newly designed tamper evident linkages, i.e., wedged fracture tabs. In addition, the present invention provides novel methods of improving tamper security of packages or containers by incorporating distinguishing printed graphics on the tamper evident component (e.g., frangible hinge, frangible tear strip, or wedged fracture tabs) of the present invention.

Abstract: A method of producing and filling a paperboard packaging container with pulverulent bulk solids includes forming a tubular container body from a paperboard sheet, the body having upper and lower body openings and a container wall extending between the upper and lower body openings and having inner and outer surfaces; closing the upper body opening with a sealing membrane attached to the inner surface; providing an upper reinforcing rim; inserting at least a lower part of the upper reinforcing rim into the tubular container body at the upper body opening; forming a weld seal between the inner surface and the inserted part of the upper reinforcing rim; presenting the body to a filling station with the bottom body opening of the container body directed upward in a vertical direction; filling pulverulent material into the body through the upwardly directed bottom body opening; and closing the bottom body opening.

An upper reinforcing rim is applied at the container body opening and extends along the opening edge, defining a perimeter of a container access opening and is joined to the inner surface of the container wall by means of a weld seal which extends around the container body opening and has an upper edge including a first abutment surface arranged to abut against a second abutment surface on an inner lid surface with the lid in a closed position on the container access opening and form a tight seal between the rim and the lid with the lid in the closed position.

At least one of the two locking members includes an engaged portion that is releasably connected to a periphery of the base and/or the cover and is manually removed when the container is initially opened, making it apparent to the merchant and/or customer that the locking assembly has been opened.

Abstract: A plastic container includes a first portion including an outwardly extending peripheral flange and a second portion including an outwardly extending peripheral flange. The first portion and the second portion define a container volume. The plastic container also includes a hinge joining the peripheral flange of the first portion and the peripheral flange of the second portion. The hinge includes a pivot line and two arcuate segments proximate to respective ends of the pivot line. The pivot line is tangent the peripheral flange of the first portion and tangent to at least a portion of each arcuate segment. The flange of the first portion can extend further than the flange of the second portion proximate each end of the pivot line to create a seamless periphery about the hinge relative to a periphery of the first portion when the container is closed.

Abstract: The current invention provides a container, a lid, a combination of the two, and a method of using the same. The container has a base and a sidewall extending upward from the base forming a continuous sidewall around the base. The upper portion of the sidewall has a rim and a skirt around the perimeter. The skirt has a removable tear tab to allow access to a lid for removing the lid from the container. The lid also has vents for air to exit the container, thereby preventing rising of the lid in low pressure areas. The vents further prevent entry of air into the container when the sealed container is taken to areas of higher pressure. A method of filling the container leaving an air gap between the product and the lid and utilizing the aforementioned vents is also provided.

Abstract: A tamper-evident container formed by thermoforming includes a tub having a bottom and a sidewall forming an interior volume. The container has a lid with an edge extending peripherally outward therefrom which is configured to mate with the tub edge to close the container. The lid edge has an inner portion and an outer portion with a perforated section therebetween. The perforated section extends continuously around the entire periphery of the lid, whereby the outer portion forms a tamper-evident seal removable from the inner portion for removing the lid from the tub. Texture elements are distributed around the outer portion of the lid edge which are configured to provide a visual indication of the presence of the tamper-evident seal. The tub edge is disposed beneath the outer portion of the lid edge and extends peripherally outward so that a substantial part of the outer portion of the lid edge does not extend below the tub edge in a vertical direction of the container in an upright orientation.

Abstract: A tamper-evident container includes a base and a lid. A base extension and a lid extension are connected to a hinge to join the base and the lid together in a closed, pre-use configuration. A tab extends from either the lid extension or the base extension in a direction away from the lid and the base such that the tab extends beyond the hinge. The tab is joined to one of the extensions via weakened regions that can be torn when the tab is pulled to indicate that the container has been tampered with or opened.

A pressure retention valve having a main body is received in the second internal space, with the second portion of the cover defining an outer protective housing for the main body of the pressure retention valve.

Abstract: A tamper-evident container and method is disclosed. The tamper-evident container includes a base portion and a lid (or cover). In an untampered with state, one edge of the lid is removably connected to one edge of the base portion. Namely, the lid includes a tamper-evident tab, wherein the tamper-evident tab includes a grasping overhanging portion that is flanked by at least one breakable joint and wherein the lid is removably connected to the base portion via the breakable joint of the tamper-evident tab. Further, the tamper-evident container comprises an interlocking interface between the base portion and the lid. A method of using the tamper-evident container is provided.

When the cover is in the closed position, a user may pull the first tab to tear the hinge to separate the cover from the tray, wherein the line of weakness at least partially defining the first tab is configured to tear when the first tab is pulled to tear the hinge to separate the cover from the tray.

Abstract: A food container has a temporary rim formed in one-piece structure on the edge thereof. It has as first sealing rim and a second sealing rim as the surface for a sealing film to be heat-sealed thereon. When the outer rim is torn off, an irreversible tear-off structure on the sealed cover would leave the trace, allowing the consumers and the sellers to decide whether to purchase or dispose of the goods simply by visual judgments; in other words, it has a tamper-proof function. A frangible hinge is formed between a top pinch segment peripherally projecting from the lid rim flange and a bottom pinch segment peripherally projecting from the base rim flange. The frangible hinge is configured to rupture when the container is in the initially sealed arrangement by the application of a pinching force to the top pinch segment and bottom pinch segment that results in the relative vertical movement of the segments toward each other. The tamper-evident structure can remain at least partially attached to the lid or body to thereby indicate to a user that the container has been opened or otherwise tampered with.

Abstract: A biased sliding lock for use with containers provides a locking mechanism to lock the lid relative to a pail. The bias can be overcome to place the container in an unlocked configuration allowing the lid to be rotated relative to the pail. The locking mechanism preferably includes a slide with a leg which may cooperate with a leg of the pail to prevent rotation of the lid relative to the pail in the locked configuration. The legs may have angled surfaces to facilitate closing directly into the locked configuration for at least some embodiments.

The flange can have a planar leading edge and a planar trailing edge that lie in planes angled relative to each other. Side edges of the flange extending between the leading and trailing edges can include non-planar segments in addition to planar segments. A recloseable feature can also be provided with the cover.

Abstract: A container closure assembly includes a cap and a spout assembly. The cap includes an internal thread that is configured to engage with an external thread located on the spout assembly. The cap further includes an engagement prong assembly that is configured to engage with the cylindrical band located on the spout assembly. The cylindrical band is supported by a plurality of tabs such that the engagement prong assembly extends between the band and the external threads when the internal and external threads are engaged and the cap is rotated such that the interaction of the threads moves the cap toward the band, the engagement prong assembly engaging the band when the cap seals the open end of the hollow cylinder, and the engagement prong assembly breaks the tabs when the cap is rotated causing the cap to unseal the open end.

Abstract: An open ended cap for a pipe is provided comprising a flexible tubular body wherein one end has a downwardly-extending radial rim. The tubular body includes a finger grip member recessed from the end of the cap and extending inwardly from an inner periphery of the rim and connected to a tear strip extending across the rim and downwardly along at least a portion of the tubular body. The tubular body optionally has an interior wall surface having multiple compressible longitudinal fit beads which are configured to provide contact with the external surface of a pipe upon being inserted into the end cap. The open ended cap may be used in conjunction with a closed end cap fit within the bore of the pipe to maximize protection of both the exterior and interior of the pipe.

Abstract: A novel and unique container of a general clamshell configuration is provided. The hinge of the container of the present invention is particularly unique in that it not only provides a hinged connection between the lid and the base of the container for ease of use by the contents manufacturer during filling but is also breakable in different ways to provide a tamper-evident function without creating small parts that must be disposed of separately from the lid.

Abstract: A canister with a novel dispensing aperture is described. The aperture is located within a continuous surface opposite the seamed canister end. By thus locating the aperture, canister contents may be dispensed or sipped without the interference of debris-collecting grooves, seam edges, and sharp angles typical of canisters with dispensing apertures located on seamed ends.

The body defines tapering side edges where the front and rear heat-sealing zones are contiguous, and the front and rear faces are convex, to define a maximum thickness where the dispenser orifice, the delivery channel, and a fraction of the collection zone are formed.

The basket tear strip is bonded to the lid tear strip to resist separation of the lid from the basket. The flange (13) has at least one passageway (18) for circulating gas; the passageway (18) is to be sealed by the attached sealing membrane and is located opposite the pull tab (23) so as to release the internal excess pressure from the container (3) upon the initiation of the peeling of the sealing membrane. The container is particularly useful for eliminating, or at least reducing, the splatter of the packaged material.

The system includes delivering a predetermined amount of drain cleaning composition to an obstruction wherein the predetermined amount may be delivered by a single-use packet. The composition for clearing a clogged drain may include sodium bisulfate, moisture, sodium sulfate, potassium, calcium, or iron.
