About Line Or Point Of Weakness Patents (Class 220/266)
  • Patent number: 10351310
Abstract: A tamper-evident container includes a base and a lid. A base extension and a lid extension are connected to a hinge to join the base and the lid together in a closed, pre-use configuration. A tab extends from either the lid extension or the base extension in a direction away from the lid and the base such that the tab extends beyond the hinge. The tab is joined to one of the extensions via weakened regions that can be torn when the tab is pulled to indicate that the container has been tampered with or opened.

  • Patent number: 9611078
Abstract: A food container has a temporary rim formed in one-piece structure on the edge thereof. It has as first sealing rim and a second sealing rim as the surface for a sealing film to be heat-sealed thereon. When the outer rim is torn off, an irreversible tear-off structure on the sealed cover would leave the trace, allowing the consumers and the sellers to decide whether to purchase or dispose of the goods simply by visual judgments; in other words, it has a tamper-proof function. In addition, when the outer rim is removed from the container, the sealing film would detach from the first sealing rim but still stick on the second sealing rim, providing a reusable sealed cover for the container that ensures more safety of food hygiene.

Abstract: This product is a storage container with a depressible cover that can create an internal vacuum. In doing so it can reduce it's volume, allowing another similar container to be stored inside the initial container without removing its cover. Through these features, this product's primary aims are to preserve food for longer in a vacuum, thereby reducing waste and drastically reducing the amount of space being used for storage (whether it's food in the refrigerator or clothes in the wardrobe). This product is also available as an airtight cover that can be attached to cans, jars or similar products to provide the ability to simply reseal canned or jarred foods in a vacuum (partial or 100% vacuum) as well as the ability to stack these cans or jars into each other to save storage space. • Patent number: 8844761
Abstract: Resealable beverage containers include caps that are twisted to impart translational motion of the cap to push a tear panel into the container. Cam elements are used to convert rotational movement to translational movement. The caps are preferably made of molded plastic material, and include cam elements formed on the sidewalls of the caps that engage cam followers or projections formed on the inner cylindrical surface of a socket which is formed in the lid of the beverage container. Methods of manufacturing resealable beverage containers avoid the need to form rivets and to attach pull tabs, thus saving costs and making the beverage containers more easily recycled.

  • Patent number: 8833589
Abstract: A container which includes a base (12) that can hold food and a lid (14) that closes on the base, which clearly indicates if the lid has been opened after a clerk loaded food into the base and closed the lid. The base and lid each have trapping portions (20, 22) and pull-open portions (24, 32) with a tear-tab, or tear-open barrier (80). To close the lid, a clerk projects a tab (30) on the pull-open portion of the lid through a slot (26) in the pull-open portion of the base, and then presses down the entire trapping portion of the lid into the trapping portion of the base. The lid cannot be lifted up because the tear-open barrier (80) forming the top wall of the slot lies over the tab. To open the container, a person must tear the barrier so he/she can pull up the tab 30 and open the lid. The fact that the barrier has been torn is obvious.

A rim about an upper periphery of the base engages an identically contoured flange about a lower periphery of the lid, and a protective lip integral to and extending from an outermost end of the rim prevents access to the lip making the tear-strip of the hinge the only possible access point of the container. Any tampering to access the inside of the container would be made evident by a torn or missing welded hinge.
