Abstract: A sealing film with a hidden tab includes a bottom layer and a top layer. The bottom layer includes a heat sealing layer, an aluminum foil layer, and a polypropylene layer. The top layer includes a nylon layer and a polyethylene terephthalate layer, and is defined with a connection portion and a tab portion. The nylon layer in the connection portion is adhered to the polypropylene layer by an adhesive. At least a contact is disposed between the nylon layer in the tab portion and the polypropylene layer. Due to physical properties of the material of which the nylon layer in the tab portion is made, the sealing film is likely to sever but easy to peel off. The contact not only prevents the tab portion of the top layer from warping but also enables a user to determine whether the sealing film has ever been used before.

Abstract: A removable membrane, or cover, for a disposable food container includes a membrane portion at least partially defined by a circular outer perimeter edge. The removable membrane further includes a truncated tab portion projecting radially outward of the outer perimeter edge of the membrane portion. The truncated tab portion is at least partially defined by a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge, with each of the first and second lateral edges converging as the tab portion extends away from the outer perimeter edge of the membrane portion. The tab portion is further defined by a forward edge that extends along a straight line between the first lateral edge and second lateral edge, wherein the forward edge is disposed at an oblique angle relative to the first lateral edge and the second lateral edge.

Abstract: Heat-sealable seal including a support bonded to an inner seal by a temporary adhesive is provided. The inner seal has a pull-tab which is folded back once on the surface of the inner seal in contact with the corresponding surface of the support. The inner seal includes a laminate having a reinforcing layer and a sheet of a conducting material, to the lower surface of which is applied a heat-sealing film. The temporary adhesive is applied to the whole surface of the inner seal once the pull-tab is folded back. The seal is characterized in that the laminate has over its entire thickness a notch from which the pull-tab emerges, and a fold line formed by the pull-tab once the pull-tab is folded back, the fold line having a shorter length than the length of the notch. Methods of producing the seal are also disclosed.

The flexible film packages are generally resealable to extend the shelf-life or freshness of products contained therein once the package is initially opened. By one approach, the flexible film has two opposing edge portions that meet to form a longitudinal seal extending from a first end seal to a second end seal. The flexible film may have a score that defines a package opening. An elongated closure layer may extend over the score and may extend from a first end seal to a second end seal and within the opposing edge portions that form the longitudinal seal. The elongated closure layer may have a tack-free gripping portion used to release at least a portion of the elongated closure from the flexible film to form the package opening.
