    Abstract: A corrosion resistant gas cylinder and gas delivery system includes an electroless nickel-phosphorous layer overlying the inner surface of a steel alloy cylinder. The nickel-phosphorous layer has a thickness of at least about 20 micrometers and a porosity of no greater than about 0.1%. The electroless nickel-phosphorous layer has a phosphorous content of at least about 10% by weight and a surface roughness of no greater than about 5 micrometers. Prior to introducing liquefied gas into the gas cylinder, a cleaning process is carried out using a two-step baking process to clean the surface of the nickel-phosphorus layer. The nickel-phosphorous layer substantially reduces the contamination of liquefied corrosive gasses stored in the gas cylinder by metal from the steel wall surface underlying the nickel-phosphorous layer.

    Abstract: A full flow water connector assembly has a connector with prongs of a certain length that are separated by notches. The end of the connector with the prongs is passed through an opening in a diaphragm and the prongs protrude through respective slots in a diffuser/retainer member. The prongs are then bent so as to press the diffuser/retainer member so as to secure the diaphragm and hold the connector assembly together. The diffuser/retainer member has segments between the slots, the segments contacting the notches when the diffuser/retainer member is pressed sufficiently far. The length of the prongs beyond the notches limits the maximum amount of compression that the diffuser/retainer member can exert against the diaphragm material, thereby minimizing the chance of cracking and subsequent failure of the diaphragm material.

The core and the encapsulating layers define a bonded sandwich type of construction. The container can be supported only at its forward and rearward ends during over-the-road transportation of liquids, like presently available stainless steel containers.

A number of apertures extend from inside the groove to the opposite side of the flange. The liner material is molded on and in the groove of the flange and fills the apertures to form anchoring segments integral with the liner, extending through the flange to liner material on both sides.

    Abstract: A pressure vessel apparatus for containing fluid under high pressure and temperature including pressure surges caused by in-vessel explosions includes a vessel main body, a vessel top body and a vessel head. Elongated tendons interconnect the vessel main body to the vessel top body and elongated tendons with removable anchors also connect the vessel head to the vessel top body. The tendons with insulated protecting sleeves connecting the vessel main body to the vessel top body are chosen to allow the vessel top body to temporarily separate from the vessel main body before the vessel head separates from the vessel top body. These tendons may be mounted directly, on springs, or on dampers in order to provide optimum (minimum) response to the postulated load cases.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for coating the interior surface of a cylinder with a uniform, relatively thick layer of a polymeric material. The method includes the steps of dispersing a particulate polymeric material into the interior cavity of a cylinder. Any openings in the cylinder are then closed. The cylinder is then subjected to rotational movement while at the same time subjecting the cylinder to oscillation in a vertical plane. The polymeric material is then heated to a temperature above the melting point of the polymeric material, and maintained at that temperature for a time sufficient to coat the polymeric material onto the interior surface of the cylinder. The rotation and oscillation of the cylinder is then halted and the polymeric material is cooled.

The liner, cover, and seal would be formed of chemically resistent tantalum (Ta), platinum (Pt) or polytetrafluoroethylene. Gem-quality diamonds can be refined by using different related vessels exclusively to hold respective caustic, acid and rinse solvents, and moving the diamonds from vessel to vessel sequentially.

    Abstract: A weldment, such as the wall of a pressure vessel, is formed from segments, each of which includes a steel substrate, a protective layer of tantalum which is exposed to the interior of the vessel and an intervening layer of copper which lies between and is bonded to the substrate and the protective layer. The substrate and the two layers which form the cladding are explosively bonded together and the bonding procedure may leave the protective layer with small domes or embossments and pockets of trapped gas behind the embossments. The two segments are welded together edge-to-edge at their substrates, with their protective and intervening layers aligned. If one were to follow the traditional procedure, one would place a tantalum batten strip over the protective layers along the opposed edges so as to cover the edges, and then weld the batten strip to the protective layer along the edges of the strip.

This process is repeated with another pressure head to form the other end of the storage vessel. Storage vessels may be constructed of any size desired to allow sufficient ground clearance when mounted under a vehicle.

The spaces between the jackets and pressure vessel containment assembly are filled with a high boiling point, low melting point metal.
