Abstract: A cap assembly cooperates with a container to form a vent portion and a pour portion when a cap is oriented in an open position relative to the container. The cap is dimensioned to seal the container opening in a closed position. The cap and opening are oblong, preferably oval in configuration, and have cooperating thread assemblies that permit the cap to be selectively rotated between the open and closed positions. The cap preferably has a threaded shank that is engaged along a portion of its periphery by central threaded portions disposed on opposite sides of the generally oval container opening.

Abstract: A packaging container has a container body formed of a shape substantially resembling an inverted cone. The packaging container can be set alone on a support surface and the contents, such as confectionery, of the packaging container can be removed without holding the packaging container by hand. The container package includes a container body formed of a shape substantially resembling an inverted cone and having a tapered end portion and an open end opposite the tapered end portion, a lid for hermetically sealing the container body, and a frustum-shaped exterior shell removably fitted on the container body. When the exterior shell fitted on the container body is removed from the container body and is inverted, and the tapered end portion of the container body is inserted into the inverted exterior shell, the container body is supported by the exterior shell. The container body is provided on its outer surface with protrusions.

Abstract: A fastener and plug device for mounting a trashcan bar to a trashcan and for covering the hollow ends of the trashcan bar includes a plug portion and a fastener portion. The plug portion includes an end cap and a plurality of spaced apart discs for enclosing the openings in the ends of the trashcan bar. The fastener portion includes an extension member extending outwardly from the end cap for engaging and extending through an aperture in the trashcan bar for securing the trashcan bar to the trashcan. The fastener and plug device of the invention reduces the known multiple steps of installing the trashcan bar onto the trashcan, eliminates the use of multiple fasteners typically needed to secure the trashcan bar to the trashcan, is installable in the field, and permits the trashcans to be more easily stackable for storage and transportation.

Abstract: A closure system for a package includes a cover that interacts with a receiving ring. The cover has a main face and a first protuberance of U-shaped cross-section that projects substantially perpendicular to a plane of the main face and extends about the perimeter of the cover. The first protuberance has at least one first lock element in the form of a projection. The receiving ring is formed on the package and has a second U-shaped protuberance that projects substantially parallel to the package axis and extends about the perimeter of the ring. The second protuberance has a second lock element in the form of a projection. The second protuberance of the ring is configured to receive the first protuberance of the cover such that the first and second lock elements engage each other and prevent removal of the cover while so engaged.

Abstract: A plastic container with a snap lid and with a snap element provided on the upper edge area of the container for the lid to snap onto, the lid having an area in tight contact with the container's upper edge area. The container edge on the side of the snap element facing the top edge of the container is provided with at least one integrally molded reinforcing rib projecting radially and extending over at least a segment of the circumference of the container, preferably running circumferentially around the container. The reinforcing rib may be provided on a downward-facing, circumferential collar region, which is joined in the region of the top edge of the container.

Abstract: A sealing container in which the container body has a plurality of tapered retaining blocks protruded from the inside wall thereof and equiangularly spaced around the opening in one end of the container body, the sealing cap has a disk-like knob, a hollow cylindrical plug axially extended from the center of one side of the disk-like knob and filled with a desiccant for fitting into the opening of the container body, and an annular retaining flange extended around the periphery of the cylindrical plug for engaging the tapered retaining blocks of the container body and forcing air out of the container body after insertion of the cylindrical plug into the opening of the container body.

Abstract: A decorative container used for small articles such as cosmetics, includes a base, opposed side walls and opposed end walls. The side walls have a generally wave-like configuration when seen in plan from above or below. The configuration of the walls permits multiple containers to be arranged in side-by-side array with the end walls abutting, resulting in a continuous uninterrupted wave-like appearance of the side walls. The resulting visual effect is highly attractive. The container lid may be of the identical opacity as the container body or it may be provided in a contrasting colour or opacity. The container lid is preferably flat and flush with the container walls.

Abstract: A string trimmer comprising an elongate shaft and a cutting head rotatably mounted on one end of the shaft. A cutting member which extends from the cutting head. An attachment is pivotally mounted on the string trimmer by at least one pivot mechanism, wherein the pivot mechanism comprises a latching mechanism about which the attachment is capable of latchably rotating relative to the string trimmer. The attachment is a barrier which is capable of being used by an operator to move vegetation away from a path swept out by the cutting member.

Abstract: A plug for covering an opening of an electronic device includes an elongated member and either one protruding member containing two tabs or two protruding members, each containing one tab. The elongated member and protruding members are sized and positioned to substantially fill or cover an opening of an electronic device. Preferably, the plug also includes two gripping wings to facilitate insertion of the plug into the opening and removal of the plug from the opening.

Abstract: An obturator (1) for an opening (10) has a collar (2) comprising a peripheral lip (3) adapted to come into abutment on a face (10a) of the opening (10), and several teeth (6) mounted pivotally on the collar (2) and adapted to come into abutment on an opposite face of the opening (10) in a locked position of the obturator (1). The teeth (6) are also fixed to a flange (12) mounted pivotally on a pusher (8), the pusher (8) being adapted to pivotally move the flanges (12) between an unlocked position and a locked position of the obturator (1). The obturator is used notably for sealing closing an opening in a motor vehicle body.

The gasket includes inwardly extending tabs (or “dogs”) which extend into corresponding pockets (or “doghouses”) formed in the wall. This causes the gasket, which is initially provided in a non-tacky state, to be mechanically secured to the hole plug during shipment and assembly prior to installation.

Abstract: A fastening assembly is constituted by a plate-like member provided with a plurality of laterally extending projections which can be pushed into position between and then turned into engagement with respective slots formed in protrusions. In one aspect, at least one of the projections and/or at least one of the slots is adapted to give a wedging effect. In another aspect, the protrusions are located around an inner periphery of otherwise circular outline presented by a hollow member, and the projections are formed as arcuate sectors located around the plate-like member which presents an outer periphery of circular outline other than at recesses for receiving the respective protrusions.

Abstract: A sheathed receptacle device for securing objects within an associated enclosure includes an object receptacle having outwardly-extending tabs which engage with respective slots in the enclosure to secure the receptacle within the enclosure. In a particular embodiment, the receptacle includes gripping portions integrally formed with the outwardly-extending tabs in a cantilevered body having a spring action such that manual depression of the gripping portions directly actuates the tabs into and out of respective slots in the associated enclosure.

Abstract: An obturator for an aperture (8) produced in a metal sheet (9) has a central dome (1), a peripheral lip (3) and an annular part (3) extending between the dome (1) and the lip (2). The annular part (3) has a shoulder (4). The dome (1) is adapted to deform between a starting position and a locking position of the obturator in which the dome (1) is turned inside out in relation to the starting position. The annular part is adapted to expand between the starting position and locking position and is maintained expanded by the inverted dome (1) in the locking position. The lip (2) is adapted to come into abutment against a face (9a) of the aperture (8) and the shoulder (4) is adapted to be in abutment against an opposite face (9b) of the aperture (8) in the locking position.

Abstract: A radio frequency cover and complementary shaped hole that securely fit together to provide electro magnetic and electrostatic shielding of adjustment access holes. The cover preferably is cold headed and the complementary hole is either stamped, machined or cast for inexpensive mass production. Each cover preferably has a socket or slit on its top surface to receive and be guided by a tool, which also secures the cover in an access hole within a second access hole in radio frequency and/or electronic systems. The covers include self tapping thread formers to further reduce manufacturing time and costs.

Abstract: A child-proof, senior-friendly safety closure for medicine containers is formed with a cylindrical wall including a continuous mid-level band and slotted upper and lower walls. The slotted walls, in conjunction with the mid-level band, form a plurality of lever-like locking elements which can be pivoted about the region of the mid-level band with which they are integrally associated. The associated receptacle is formed with a dispensing neck having an internally projecting locking flange arranged to engage with notches at lower ends of each of the cylindrically arrayed locking levers, the latter being resiliently biased to remain in locking engagement with the flange. To release the cap, an adult finger is inserted downward into the upper end of the cap, the dimensions of which are such that insertion of an adult finger causes the upper ends of the locking levers to be displaced radially outward.

Abstract: A device for removably securing an object having a detent to a support. The support includes having a receiver to receive a portion of the perimeter of the object including the detent. The receiver may be cup-shaped. The support further includes a deformable tab disposed which is received by the detent. The tab may be disposed on a prong and the detent may be disposed on the perimeter of a well where the well is shaped to receive the prong. When engaged, the tab couples to said detent to removably secure the object to said support. The support also includes an actuator engaging the deformable tab to decouple the tab from said detent. The support may optionally be coupled to a key chain or a tether. In a second aspect of the invention, the support receives a portion of the perimeter of a cigarette lighter to secure the cigarette lighter from child-tampering and accidental ignition.

Abstract: The present invention is an inspection port that is self-locking and self-sealing when inserted in smooth, embossed, or corrugated metal jackets which contain an insulation layer around process equipment such as reactors, heat exchangers, distillation towers, storage tanks, and pipelines. The inspection port is made from an elastomeric material and includes a tubular body having an outer flange and two locking ridges which are positioned to form a short section for gripping non-corrugated metal and a long section for gripping corrugated metal.

Abstract: The rectangular reclosable container assembly includes a rectangular open ended container and a closure member for closing the container. The closure member is depressed to engage the inner surface of the container walls, and the container walls and the depressed wall engaging portions of the closure member are provided with cooperating projecting beads and slots which terminate in spaced relationship to the corners of the container and closure member to vent air at the corners of the assembly. The closure member has a tear away skirt which extends from a bridging section which spaces the skirt from the depressed wall engaging portions of the closure member. An upwardly projecting stacking ridge is formed on the closure member to engage the skirt of like closure members and to receive and retain the sidewalls of the container at the bottom thereof to facilitate stacking.

Abstract: A closure cover for panel openings is formed of plastic material and comprises a cover cap carrying several resilient elastic fingers that extend from a lower side of the cover cap. Each finger carries a stop element for penetrating into the panel opening and retaining the cover in place. The resilient fingers (3) are each comprised of two small resilient bars (6, 7) between which is arranged the stop element (8) likewise designed in the form of a small elastic cross piece. The stop element (8) forms a hook with a connection area (9) located at a predetermined angle relative to the bars (6, 7) and a stop area (5) connected to the connection area (9).

Abstract: A tapered cup having an outwardly rolled lip includes insulating bodies integral with the outer face of the wall of the cup. Thermally conductive channels are among the insulating bodies and have an insulating value that is less then the insulating value of the insulating bodies. The cup can include a groove below the outwardly rolled lip in the inner face of the cup wall. The insulating bodies can be configured as alpha numeric indicia and the outer wall of the bodies or cup can be provided with bumps to aid in stacking of two or more cups. The cup can include a tapered lid with an outwardly flared lip that seats against the inner wall of the cup and does not extend over the lip of the cup. The lid can include a locking ring below the outwardly flared lip of the lid that is adapted for insertion into the groove in the cup. The lid further includes a fluid port.

Abstract: A two-piece plastic container and removable cover is provided which is particularly adaptable for containing flowable products. The removable cover comprises a one-piece molded generally circular cover having an annular sealing projection extending generally downwardly in a perpendicular direction from an outer periphery of the cover and an annular locking projection extending generally upwardly in a perpendicular direction from the outer periphery of the cover. The container comprises a one-piece molded cylindrical body having a closed bottom and an open top. Two spaced concentric annular inside and outside projections extend longitudinally upwardly from the open top of the body of the container and define therebetween a cover sealing cavity for receiving the cover sealing projection and cooperating therewith to seal the cover on the container.

Abstract: A food packaging container is presented having a cover and a base. The cover has a top and a first side wall. The top contains a central portion and a peripheral shoulder, where the shoulder encompasses the central portion. The first side wall extends downward from the shoulder and encompasses the top wall. The first side wall also has at least two generally vertical and outwardly directed ribs repeating in a predetermined rib pattern, where the one rib is generally pointed at an outermost portion thereof, and the second rib is generally fiat at an outermost portion thereof. The two ribs form generally vertical furrows that interconnect adjacent fibs. The base has a bottom and a second side wall which encompasses and extends upward from the bottom. The base is adapted to engage the cover.

Abstract: An illuminated exit sign having at least one chevron-shaped opening on its outer surface and a replaceable directional arrow cover that is substantially similar in shape to the opening and removable from the opening in order to selectively indicate an exit direction. A shoulder which is formed in the cover is adapted to abut with a shoulder formed at the opening. At least two snap tabs located on opposite sides of the arrow cover fit securely within corresponding notches disposed in the shoulder formed at the opening. The opposing configuration of the shoulders and the corresponding configuration of the snap tabs and notches facilitate the removal and replacement of the arrow by a single, quick snapping action which secures the cover in a snug, flush fit.

Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for the disposal of noxious and hot kitchen waste using a reusable, sealable top structure detachably fixed in a discarded paper half-gallon consumer grade liquid container. Once the carton has been emptied of the milk or juice, it is prepared by removing two extended tabs and slightly trimming a third side, thus giving the carton a uniform upper edge. A top is provided to seal the odors in. The top has a lip that wraps around the top carton on all sides providing a seal between the carton and the top structure. The body of the top acts to hold the carton open for the insertion of scrap material. The body has a lid connected thereto by a hinge providing a trap-door to seal in the odors. This lid preferably has an o-ring wrapped around its periphery providing a seal between the lid and the insert. The lid is further provided with a handle or knob to facilitate its opening and closing.

Abstract: A remote-control, foot-operated unit for use with trolling motors on boats is revealed. The unit has a snap-together design that does not use screw fasteners extending through holes. As a result, the sensitive electronic components are completely sealed from contact with any water or water vapor. The snap design has a back-up feature to prevent accidental snap-release in the event of shock loading. The assembly fits together as a sandwich, effectively positioning a sealing component in juxtaposition with the snap arrangements to promote a secure connection around the periphery of the unit, as well as a tight sealing engagement between the sandwich components to, in effect, isolate the sensitive electronic components from exposure to any moisture.
