  • Patent number: 10948336
Abstract: An automated condiment dispensing system for dispensing predetermined amounts of condiments such as are commonly utilized in connection with the preparation of food sandwiches or other food menu items, particularly within fast food restaurants, whereby a particular condiment, or a combination of condiments, can be automatically dispensed onto a food sandwich or food item transported to a particular condiment dispensing station at which the particular condiment dispensing system is located and from which the particular condiment is to be dispensed. Multiple different condiment dispensing stations can be employed so as to dispense different condiments in accordance with a patron's food item order, and the entire dispensing system is automatically controlled by a programmable logic controller (PLC).

  • Patent number: 10744697
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for extruding plastic materials are disclosed. An exemplary apparatus comprises: a feeding portion; a melting portion in communication with the feeding portion and configured to transmit heat into material received from the feeding portion; and an output die in communication with the melting portion to permit extrusion of the material. The melting portion comprises: a melting barrel having an inner surface defining a melting chamber in communication with the feeding portion; and a melting insert inside the melting chamber. The melting insert comprises an outer surface in contact with the inner surface of the melting barrel where the outer surface comprises one or more open-ended channels formed therein. In some embodiments, the feeding portion and the melting portion may be thermally insulated from each other and a propeller of the feeding portion may be disposed entirely outside of the melting portion.

  • Patent number: 8375941
Abstract: Dry powder inhalers include: (a) a first generally planar spiral travel path in an inhaler body, wherein the first spiral travel path has a plurality of adjacent curvilinear channels forming lanes with upstanding sidewalls, including an inner lane and an outer lane; and (b) a plurality of discrete sealed microcartridges with substantially rigid bodies disposed in the first travel path, each comprising a pre-metered (typically dose) amount of dry powder, the microcartridges being configured to slidably advance along the first travel path toward an inhalation chamber that merges into an inhalation output port. In operation, at least one microcartridge is held in the inhalation chamber to release the dry powder therein during inhalation.

  • Patent number: 8245871
Abstract: A container to contain fluid products, installed in a dispensing machine for fluid products, which is provided with a pair of delivery stations which have respective axes of delivery (X1) arranged at a determinate distance (D1) from each other. The container comprises an outer wall shaped so as to define an inner compartment consisting of two cylindrical zones connected by an intermediate zone. The distance (D2) between the longitudinal axes (X2) of the two cylindrical zones is substantially equal to the determinate distance (D1) between the axes of delivery (X1).

  • Publication number: 20080277512
Abstract: The invention provides an ingredient dispensing apparatus (100; 200) comprising first and second hoppers (102, 104; 202, 204) for storage of an ingredient, first and second dispensers (120, 124; 214, 224) for dispensing an ingredient from the respective hopper (102, 104; 202, 204) and a drive mechanism (128; 228) for rotatably driving the first and second dispensers (120, 124; 214, 224). The first and second dispensers (120, 124; 214, 224) are arranged such that, in a first direction (D1) of rotation of the drive mechanism (128; 228), the first dispenser (120; 214) dispenses an ingredient from the first hopper (102; 202) and in a second direction (D2) of rotation of the drive mechanism (128; 228), the second dispenser (124; 224) dispenses an ingredient from the second hopper (104; 204).

  • Patent number: 6371331
Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing a measured quantity of a liquid has a container holding a quantity of liquid to be measured and dispensed and a conduit with an inlet end, an outlet end and a measuring section having a known volume. A sensor determines when the measuring section contains liquid. A passage with a first valve is provided for delivering liquid from the container to the conduit inlet end and air under pressure urges liquid from the container to the conduit. A source of air under pressure is connected to the conduit and a second valve controls delivery of air to the conduit from the source. A control connected to the sensor and to the first and second valves sequentially closes the second valve and opens the first valve to cause flow of liquid from the container to the conduit until the sensor determines that the measuring section contains liquid, and then closes the first valve and opens the second valve to admit air to the conduit, thereby expelling a measured quantity of liquid from the outlet end.

  • Patent number: 4809883
Abstract: A sand dispensing assembly is provided wherein two different sands are held in two bins in a top section. The bins are concentric and generally cylindrical. A middle section of the sand dispensing assembly includes a plurality of inner dispensing tubes at a first diameter from the center of the middle section and a plurality of outer dispensing tubes at a second diameter greater than the first diameter from the center of the middle section. A bottom of the sand dispensing assembly includes a plurality of discharge funnels. When the middle section is at a first position, sand fills the inner dispensing tubes from the first bin while sand exits the outer tubes through the discharge funnels. When the middle section is rotated to a second position, sand fills the outer dispensing tubes from the second bin while sand exits the inner tubes through the discharge funnels.
