Axial Sationary Closure Plug Patents (Class 222/521)
  • Patent number: 5715977
Abstract: A receiver, i.e., a container, has a ring provided with a distribution capsule. The capsule includes a cap provided with at least one distribution orifice which is mounted to be screwed and unscrewed between at least two positions, by at least one thread provided on the ring. The capsule also includes a reducer which is integral or attached to the ring and provided with a blocking tip so as to block at will the orifice of the cap as a function of its position on the ring. The ring of the container includes two parallel screwing threads adapted to cooperate each with a spur provided in the cap. The ring also includes helical ramps for assembly of the cap on the ring. The winding direction of the helical ramps alternates every quarter turn such that the helical ramps form two points and two recesses. Each recess is extended by a longitudinal groove which extends at least toward one of the threads and which is capable of receiving one of the spurs of the cap during assembly of the cap on the ring.

  • Patent number: 5431305
Abstract: A liquid dispensing package includes a container whose finish has an opposed pair of slots extending vertically from a free end thereof. A nozzle element with a dispensing passage extending therethrough is positioned within the finish and has an opposed pair of pins which extend into and through the slots of the finish to permit the nozzle element to translate, but not rotate, with respect to the finish, the translation being between a sealed, non-dispensing position and an unsealed, dispensing position. A cap element is rotatably affixed to the finish and has an opening in a top central panel which is aligned with the dispensing passage of the nozzle element. A skirt of the cap element has part helical grooves on its inside surface, and these grooves receive the free ends of the pins of the nozzle element. Thus, rotation of the cap element results in translation of the nozzle element.

The cap is press fitted onto the neck of a container such as a tube, and the neck of the container has a plurality of discontinuous spiral tracks which receive lugs carried on an inner skirt of the cap to permanently retain the cap, and to permit extension and retraction of the cap upon twisting. Preferably the lugs have a plurality of closely spaced ribs on their inside surface which ride against the neck wall, thereby reducing the frictional resistance of the cap to rotation. The cap has a dispensing orifice which seals about a central boss on the end of the neck, and two additional seals which engage against sealing surfaces of the tube neck. One seal is a circular rim on the underside of the cap which seals against a circular rim on the end of the neck, opposed to that on the cap.

In another embodiment a valve (148,150,216, 218,316,318,416,418) in the container or reservoir is opened by a probe (164,232,332) in the other of the container and reservoir when the container and reservoir are mated together. The invention prevents fluid from a container not specially adapted to the reservoir being added to reservoir.

Abstract: A dispensing cap construction including a base cap attachable to a container, the base cap having a spout formation provided with a side wall and with a flow passage in the side wall, and a cover cap which is both turnably mounted on the base cap and axially movable thereon between a lowered sealing position and a raised dispensing position. The cover cap has a discharge orifice, and a valving wall and discharge passage in the valving wall, both of which move circumferentially around the side wall of the spout formation. The valving wall moves into and out of a sealing position wherein it covers or uncovers the flow passage in the side wall of the base cap when the cover cap is turned. The valving wall has positions intermediate its full cover and full uncover positions wherein it only partially closes the flow passage. The discharge orifice of the cover cap is sealed at a point downstream of the flow passage of the base cap when the cover cap is in its lowered position thereon.

A valve is disposed between the content of the bottle and the dosaging container which can be selectively opened or closed by turning a gripping piece.
