  • Patent number: 4570825
Abstract: A tamper-evident cap construction for a dispenser, comprising a cap body having a discharge opening, a screw cap carried thereon and adapted to close off the discharge opening, and a frangible tab that is integral with the screw cap and which extends outwardly over an exposed exterior surface of the body and is integral therewith by virtue of a common fused juncture area at the surface. Preferably the fusing takes the form of a sonic weld. The tab has a transverse line of weakness which can be adjacent to either the point of attachment of the tab to the screw cap, or else to the fused area. The tab normally prevents relative turning between the screw cap and the cap body, but can rupture when a turning force is applied therebetween, having a magnitude which is less that required to separate the tab from the body at the location of the fused juncture.

  • Patent number: 4477002
Abstract: A cam-advance, thread-retract dispensing stopper cap construction of unusually short axial dimension, comprising a body portion having annular walls with a discharge passage extending through it, and a captive screw cap movable axially on the body portion between sealing and dispensing positions. Both the screw cap and the body portion have cooperable screw threads which are operable in a screwing-down direction only. The body portion has a stopper plug which is carried in the discharge passage by means of multiple webs, and which is adapted to be received in a discharge orifice of the screw cap when the latter is disposed in the sealing or fully screwed-down position. An annular space is defined between the walls of the body portion and the stopper plug, and contains a curved cam track on which a depending cam follower lug of the screw cap can ride as the latter is unscrewed, thereby to positively force the cap open.

  • Patent number: 4438870
Abstract: A captive dispensing cap construction for a container, comprising a body part having a discharge passage, and a stopper extending upwardly from the passage. A screw cap part is carried by the body part and has a discharge opening into which the stopper extends when the screw cap part is screwed to its full-on position. The screw cap part and body part have two pairs of mutually engageable portions, one comprising cooperable screw threads for moving the screw cap part axially on the body part as the cap part is turned, and the other comprising a cam track on the body part and a follower portion on the screw cap part. The screw threads have sufficient backlash to enable the screw cap part to have an initial unscrewing turning movement from its fully screwed-on position through an angle essentially in excess of 20.degree. before axial outward displacement of the cap part occurs.

  • Patent number: 4424918
Abstract: A non-resealable dispenser cap construction for a container, comprising a cap body part having a discharge opening, an orifice part movable between sealing and unsealing positions and adapted to selectively seal off the discharge opening, and means for preventing re-closing of the cap construction following an initial dispensing operation. There are provided cooperable camming surfaces on the cap body and orifice parts, which tend to hold the latter part in a sealing position, as during shipping. A one-way drive thread is provided, functioning when the orifice part is turned in an unscrewing direction, but being inoperable when the orifice part is thereafter turned in a screwing-on direction. Interference shoulders prevent the orifice part from returning to its sealing position, following an initial discharge.

  • Patent number: 4358031
Abstract: The invention comprises a combination of a container and a child resistant liquid seal closure with a dispensing spout. The container neck has one or more locking lugs which engage one or more locking lugs on the interior surface of the closure to prevent rotational removal of the closure from the container. A snap cap is retained within the closure, adjacent the inside surface of the top panel, and provides a primary liquid seal. The snap cap is provided with a dispensing spout, which is normally closed by the outer closure. To remove the closure, or to open the dispensing spout, the closure skirt must be squeezed and distorted to disengage the closure lugs radially outwardly from the locking lugs on the container neck.

  • Patent number: 4204614
Abstract: A fluid dispenser includes an actuator containing fluid passages defining a discharge path for fluid from a supply container to a discharge orifice, a needle valve lying adjacent the discharge path, a nipple surrounding the needle valve and a nozzle cap having an end wall containing a discharge orifice and being threadedly engaged with the nipple for movement of the end wall toward and away from the valve upon cap rotation. Discharge through the orifice may be positively shut-off upon rotation of the cap which causes the valve to be seated against the discharge orifice, and the nozzle cap may be locked in an off position upon engagement between a spring biased tab provided on the actuator and an inwardly extending shoulder provided on the skirt of the cap. A ramp member on the cap includes a ramp surface and the shoulder so as to effect inward deflection of the tab upon engagement with the ramp surface during cap rotation toward the off position.

  • Patent number: 4138064
Abstract: A nozzle assembly for coupling with the outlet of a rinsing device. The assembly includes a two-part nozzle holder, with one part having a pair of diametrically opposite grooves. Each of the grooves has one groove section inclined to the axis of the nozzle holder and a second groove section which merges into the first. The second section is oriented perpendicular to the axis of the nozzle holder. The other part of the nozzle holder includes a pair of projections deposed in the grooves. Rotation of one part of the holder with respect to the other causes a valve assembly to open and close. The valve assembly includes an internal pin within the nozzle assembly. The pin has a rounded head and forms the closing member. It is situated within a flow passage defined by a bushing having an inner sleeve. Axial grooves may be provided to facilitate assembly of the two-part nozzle.
