Abstract: An extensible and collapsible clothing hanger for automotive vehicles is provided comprising first and second elongate arms having one end thereof mounted for pivotal motion relative to the headliner of a vehicle. The first and second arms are upwardly pivotable to a storage position against, and in some cases flush with, the headliner of the vehicle. Interfering surfaces are provided which define a stop that limits the pivotable motion of the first and second arms downwardly to create a use position. In the use position, the first and second arms provide an opposing pair of downwardly sloping surfaces which are suitable for supporting an article of clothing thereon such as a sport coat, jacket or the like. An arrangement is provided for removably mounting the coat hanger to the headliner of the vehicle so that the hanger can be removed from the headliner to facilitate the draping of clothing thereon.

Abstract: A clothes-hanger comprises a tubular central portion, a suspension member disposed on the central portion, two end pieces, of which at least one is telescopic in the central portion and whose outer ends are provided with gripping portions for engagement with the article of clothing which is to be hung up, a compression spring disposed between an abutment in the central portion and the end piece shiftably disposed in the central portion, and a locking device connected to this end piece and disposed to prevent the compression spring from shifting the end piece beyond its outer position. The locking device is shiftably disposed in a slot provided in the lower region of the central portion, such that the locking device, in the outer position of the end piece, engages with the outer defining edge of the slot.

Abstract: An adjustable garment hanger comprised of four (4) main wire members, which include a support member, two extensible angle members and a connecting rod. Each of the angle members is adjustably attached to both the support member and to the connecting rod by duplex sleeve connectors. The support member includes a suspension hook portion and has formed thereon a pair of downwardly diverging legs, which form an angle substantially the same as the angle of a neck and shoulder portion of a garment. Each duplex sleeve connector is identical in construction and is substantially "S" shaped so as to form two loop portions. Each end of the diverging legs and each end of the connecting rod have one loop portion of the sleeve connector securely attached thereto so as to not allow any movement thereon. Each of the angle members are substantially "V" shaped so as to have two arm portions.

Abstract: An improved merchandising package for a foldable flexible garment bag permitting individualized compact packing and storing thereof and incorporating therein an inexpensive disposable hanger to enable the convenient and ready demonstration of the function, utility and advantages of the garment bag.

Abstract: A collapsible garment hanger includes a pair of arms pivoted on a mounting block, the arms pivoting downwardly to permit a garment to drop therefrom. A spring operated release and lever mechanism with a bell-crank controls the release.

Abstract: A flexible garment hanger preferably formed of a one-piece, molded plastic-like material having a body, two hanger arms connected to the body by integral flexible hinge portions and a locking bar below the body of the hanger secured to both arms by means of similar integral flexible hinge portions with a stop member projecting medially from the locking bar and having two additional integral flexible hinge portions, one on either side of the stop member. By pulling down on the stop member, the locking bar is deflected downwardly past an overcenter position which in turn allows the two hanger arms to be compressed downwardly and inwardly into a collapsed position. The hanger is locked into a fully deployed position by forcing the stop member upwardly towards the body so that the locking bar passes beyond its center position into an overcentered locking position.

Abstract: A garment hanger having a central body provided with a suspension hook, and on each side of this central body, one above the other, two or more parallel, upwardly inclined tensioning arms having their free ends interconnected by a common cross-arm. All of the tensioning arms are connected to the central body and to their corresponding cross-arm by means of hinged junctions, and spring means are present for urging the tensioning arms to their initial position after any change of position.

Abstract: A garment hanger having a base element which comprises two upwardly inclined tensioning arms destined for carrying garment at their free ends, said tensioning arms being connected to each other or to a central body by means of hinged junctions, and a top element which comprises two downwardly inclined connecting arms of half the length or substantially half the length of the tensioning arms, said connecting arms being connected to each other or to a central body by means of hinged junctions and being connected to the tensioning arms at places halfway these tensioning arms by means of hinged junctions. Further, spring means (preferably realized by forming the hinged junctions as spring junctions) are provided for urging the top element and base element together, and a suspension hook is present for suspending the hanger and garment.

Abstract: A foldable hanger for hanging a garment such as a coat or a suit in a folded manner along the center line of the back of the garment, which comprises a substantially elongated connecting member bendable or foldable about a portion substantially intermediate of the width of the connecting member, a pair of hands each being supported by the connecting member, and a pair of shoulders for hanging the garment each being supported by the connecting member at a position spaced from the hand.

Abstract: A coat hanger has first and second arms and a hook mutually pivoted on a pin so as to rotate relative to one another for folding from a use configuration to a storage configuration. The pivot pin engages one of the arms through a slot extending in the arm permitting the arm to slide relative to the pin to engage a projection on the arm with an abutment on the other arm, thereby holding the coat hanger in its open configuration.Near the free end of each arm there is provided a longitudinally extending slot that defines a tab. When the arms are folded the slots mutually engage allowing the arms to overlie one another with the tab of the first arm engaging the outer surface of the second arm while the tab of the second arm engages the inner surface of the first arm. The hook rotates about the pivot so as to lie along the collapsed arms reducing the longitudinal extent of the folded hanger.

Abstract: A garment hanger having a skirt bar with shoulder supports extending upwardly and toward each other from each end of the bar, terminating in the post and a hook with a spherical boss on it and the lower end of its stem interchangeably received in a recess in the post so that the hook can be swung from a folded position between the shoulder members and bar to a vertical U-position with the stem parallel to the post.

Abstract: A garment frame for folding garments, such as suit jackets and trousers, to be packed into a suitcase, comprising a body formed by a plurality of thin and flat panels hinged together, to which a pair of elongated elasticized arms are attached. A suit jacket is draped over the body, which fills and lightly stretches the jacket when its breast buttons are buttoned, and the arms are inserted through the jacket sleeves, crisscross the body, and then are fastened thereto. Additional garments, such as trousers, may be hung on the body inside the jacket. Each panel may be folded into face-to-face relation with an adjoining panel, the arms being stretched around the outside of the folded body.

Abstract: A clothes hanger of the folding type. The carrying arm of the clothes hangers are articulated with each other, and at the joint connection have disc-like parts which are equipped with respective blocking notches which engage with a spring-actuated locking member mounted in the carrying piece of the clothes-hanger, the disc-like parts together forming a casing for taking up the spring.

Abstract: A garment hanger having a body member and a pair of side arms pivotally attached to the body member, a vertical stem and pair of links each link being pivotally attached at one end to the lower end of the stem with one link having its other end pivotally attached to a mid-point on one of the arms and the other of the links having its other end pivotally attached to a mid-point on the other of the pair of arms, the stem being vertically movable with respect to the body member to bring the lower pivot point of the stem to a position above a straight line drawn between the median pivot points on the arms and against a stop, in which position the arms are locked against movement downwardly about their pivot points.

Abstract: A clothing hanger member of conventional shape has symmetrical right and left sides, each with its own end. Reel means is attached to the left end of the member and reels flexible cable into the reel means when the cable is not under tension. The free end of the cable is fitted with lock means that locks the cable into a loop and simultaneously locks a hanger means around a clothes bar to prevent theft. When the cable is passed through the sleeve of a sleeved garment and locked into a loop, the garment cannot be removed from the device without being cut, and the device cannot be removed from the bar, without interlocking the lock means.

Abstract: A clothes hanger has a hook, legs extending downward from the hook, and laterally extending garment engaging arms, at least the hook and the legs preferrably being bent from a single length of spring wire. Each arm is urged outward by one of the legs which has its lower end connected or integrally formed with the inner end of the arm, and each arm is slidable supported by the lower end of the other leg. In all embodiments of this invention, the arms are connected to the legs to be resiliently urged outwards thereby so that the outer ends of the arms may engage the inside of the waistband of a garment to support it. Some embodiments of this invention are fabricated from a single length of spring wire bent and formed according to a given process, the center of the wire being bent double to form the hook with the remainder of the wire forming the legs, the arms, and even additional telescoping garment support bars.
