Abstract: A protective cover adaptable to serve as a luggage accessory or be incorporated in a piece of luggage and designed to protect such luggage items, particularly net-type, weather sensitive, and degradable baggage, together with contents of the baggage from weather exposure. When the weather becomes unfavorable or when the situation to protect a luggage item arises, the protective cover is extended from the item and placed over the same. After the cover is positioned over such an item, the user may tighten the perimeter of the cover by pulling on strings that are incorporated within the cover. When the need for the protective cover is no longer needed, the user is able to fold the cover and insert the cover back into the backpack.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a dual strap system used for connection to a utility bag, such as a computer bag, by which the bag can be converted into a backpack, In a first embodiment, the dual straps of the system cross each other by means of a rigid member disposed at the crossing point to provide a twist resistant arrangement and properly center the present invention on the back of the user. One strap has a stop located thereon which helps position the straps with respect to the rigid member when the strap is off the bag and maintain the integrity of the device during the time the device is not installed on the bag. An attachment clip system is also provided which automatically positions the straps properly for use when the right hand grab technique is used to shoulder the device. Further, the clip system is designed to keep the straps from tangling when the device is off the bag.

Abstract: A computer tote convertible from a hand-carried attache case to a shoulder-carried backpack. As an attache case, the computer tote may be carried by retractable handles and a convertible compartment houses a shoulder harness and a backpack compartment in a small, compact manner. The convertible compartment can be opened so that the harness and backpack compartment can be unfolded. The backpack compartment expands the size of the case so as to allow additional items to be carried therein, and the shoulder harness facilitator carrying the expanded tote on a user's back. The computer case has numerous other interior and exterior zippered compartments including a computer compartment. The computer compartment is sized for securely containing a portable computer and is lined with padded board for protecting the computer.

The luggage is further provided to a pull rod which is fastened at the bottom end with a base located at the bottom of the interior of the luggage. The pull rod is so curved that it is corresponding in curvature to the human spinal cord, thereby preventing the pull rod from causing discomfort to the person's back on which the luggage is carried.

The cushion is transported on the user's back in the normal manner of a backpack by two arm loops through which the user may place his arm and shoulders, respectively, thus bringing the pad against the user's back as a cushion.

The sundry pouch attaches to the flap of the backpack, and includes pockets and sections to hold toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, mirror, first aid supplies and other sundry items. The pouch preferably has a flap to keep these sundry items in place when the backpack's flap is closed and the sundry items are held upside down in a storage position, but in an upright exposed position when the flap is lowered down from the backpack. The sundry pouch is removably attachable to the backpack flap, so that it can be removed and carried to a washing area of a remote campsite. The sundry pouch organizes the sundry items for efficient, quick, and reliable access. The sundry pouch is small and slim in a closed position within the backpack.

Abstract: A multi-way bag comprises, in combination, a bag and a length-adjustable strap for carrying the bag. Preferably, the bag comprises front and back panels, a pair of side panels and top and bottom panels. The bag has four pairs of strap guides which allow the strap to pass therethrough, four connectors for connecting the strap to the bag so that the bag is supportable by a user with the strap. The connectors connect the strap to the bag such that the bag is supportable by means of the strap in one of a plurality of configurations selected by the user. The strap guides are mounted on the top and bottom panels with two pairs each on each panel at portions near both ends thereof. Each connector is rotatably and slidably mounted inside each pair of the strap guides so as to be rotatable about the longitudinal axis of each of the top and bottom panels and to be slidable therealong. Four pairs of slits are formed in the back panel in such a manner that each two pairs of the slits are opposed to each other.

Abstract: A combination workout backpack and detachable backpack bag is disclosed in which the workout backpack and one or more standard weighted weight bags are used for training, i.e., building strength and endurance, for hiking. In addition, a detachable backpack bag is releasably attachable to the workout backpack so that the combination thereof, without the standard weighted weight bags, is designed for use as a conventional backpack for carrying various items when hiking. The workout backpack includes two vertically-extending, side-by-side, weight storage compartments which are conformable to one or more weight bags to inhibit horizontal and vertical movement of the standard weighted weight bags when training. A plurality of straps with releasable interlocking buckle clasps releasably attach a vertically-extending central portion, opposite lateral side portions, and a top portion of the workout backpack and to the detachable backpack bag to form an integral unit similar to a conventional backpack.

The backpack frame can house storage bags and compartments and is adjustably connected to the suspension system by quick release pins. The orientation of the support structures is such that when a mattress is placed on the frame and weight is put on the mattress, the forces are directed inwardly, resulting in great stability. Abstract: An ergonomically enhanced backpack comprises a frame having a semi-rigid dorsal plate contoured to the shape of the lumbar region. The dorsal plate is secured to the body by a combination of shoulder straps and waist belt. An expandable cargo compartment is behind the dorsal mounted plate and sandwiched between the dorsal plate and a panel or netting. Drawstrings combined with the belt allow the user to pull the panel or netting toward the dorsal plate, and thus compress the load against the lumbar area closer to the body's center of gravity. In the first embodiment, that panel has a hinged door giving access to the cargo compartment. A detachable, soft shell bag is mounted over the cargo compartment.

A helmet is inserted through an opening of the enclosure and secured with a zipper assembly, buttons and buttonholes, hook-and-loop fasteners, such as VELCRO strips, a drawstring assembly and/or other closure. The strapping is used by a wearer to position and hold the enclosure on his or her back. The strapping may be adjustable in length for greater user comfort. Detachable straps are also allowed for, whereby the helmet backpack strap or straps may be removed or strapped in typical backpack style or worn across the wearer's chest in a bandoleer style. Certain models include pouches which may be located either internal or external to the helmet or to the enclosure. Padding is utilized to increase protection to the helmet and to reduce discomfort to the user.

Abstract: A system for transporting an ill or injured patient includes a stretcher in combination with a plurality of medical care modules that respectively include medical devices such as an infusion pump, an oxygen supply device, a defibrillator, an EKG unit, or the like, and medical and first aid supplies such as bandages, splints, IV supplies, drugs, medical instruments, and the like. The stretcher includes a frame and a patient support surface, as well as module bays provided under the frame or a module carrier removably mounted on the frame. The several medical care modules each have the same dimensions and configuration so that they are modularly interchangeable to be received in any one of the module bays or on the module carrier. When the medical care modules are slidingly pushed into the module bays, electrical contacts are engaged to connect the modules with an electrical power supply and a data transfer bus, through the stretcher.

Abstract: An ergonomic bookpack having an automatic suspension system is disclosed. A series of top straps, side straps, bottom straps and optional support members serve to move the bookpack center of gravity higher in the bookpack and closer to the wearer's body, significantly redistributing the load borne by the wearer's shoulders along a longer portion of the body and back. The body of the bookpack can be made so that the interior compartment of the bookpack body is transparent and the contents of the bookpack are visible to the human eye. The invention also comprises an optional yoke and lumbar pad. This bookpack of allows the wearer to bear heavier loads for a longer period of time with less fatigue, thus reducing the possibility of debilitating musculoskeletal difficulties.

Abstract: A combination container for transporting articles which can concurrently be used as a ballistic shield from high speed projectiles such as bullets and/or shrapnel. The container, which can be a backpack, purse, computer carrying case, or similar bag style device, features a forward wall and a rear wall each having forming a compartment therebetween and at least one ballistic shield, attachable to one or both of the forward wall and said rear wall. Upper flaps and lower flaps attached to the bag afford deployable additional protection from attached ballistic shields. A handle provides a means for elevating the deployed elongated flaps and attached bag in front of the user to provide a large area of protection from such high speed projectiles.

The spatula system includes a flat spatula attached to an accessory, with the spatula inserted between the mounting track and the waist belt to attach the accessory to waist belt. A long gun support system for conveniently and safely carrying a firearm along with the load bearing support system is described. Extension panels for carrying large loads on the support system, as well as fabric noise-reduction and color variation panels are also described.

Abstract: An ergonomically designed bag is configured with a strap system that is easily converted from a two-strap backpack mode into a single-strap shoulder bag mode. The carrying strap is attached at a first end to the top of the bag. The strap is longitudinally dividable with a zipper incorporated into the strap. When in the backpack mode the zipper is open to define a pair of straps, the lower ends of which are connected to D-rings on lateral sides of the front panel. When in the shoulder bag mode the zipper is closed and the lower ends of both straps are connected to a D-ring on a side panel of the bag.

Abstract: A backpack either conventional or of the rolling type having an integrated flexible filing system for storing books, folders, files, papers, and other paraphernalia. The flexible filing system is comprised of a plurality of semi-rigid dividers securely attached to a back wall or panel in the main compartment of the backpack. The dividers are attached to a flexible side wall to allow the system to expand or collapse as needed. Optional features include graduated dividers that are progressively shorter from rear to back to facilitate access to the compartments. An additional optional feature is to make the top edges of the dividers at an oblique angle to facilitate viewing of materials sorted or stored in the compartments formed by the expandable file system. The expandable file systems can also be permanently attached to the back panel of a backpack or could be removable by using a hook and loop fastener.

Abstract: A travel bag for a motorcycle is disclosed that can be easily attached and removed from a variety of different size motorcycle seat backs or sissy bars and ensures that the bag is secure during motorcycle operation. The bag carries a series of vertically aligned straps on the exterior surface of the bag that faces the front of the motorcycle. Each strap is adjustable in length to fit a variety of seat back widths. The height of the seat back or sissy bar determines how many straps are used. The multi-purpose bag can be used by stowing the pouch to stop communication from inside the sleeve to inside the pouch. The sleeve can at this time be at least partially filled before closing the sleeve.

Abstract: A tent structure convertible from a hanging tent to a ground-based tent is herein described. The tent structure includes a top portion having slots, T-shaped connectors stitched into the base portion and resilient rods having ends arranged to be inserted into either the slots or the T-shaped members. For use as a hanging tent, the ends of the resilient rods are inserted into connectors on opposite sides of the tent such that the resilient rods extend across the base portion of the tent and the tent is then hung from support structure(s). As a result of this arrangement, the base of the tent is firmly supported by the resilient rods and the tent is supported above the ground. For use as a ground-based tent, the connectors are pivoted such that the connectors are adjacent to the sides of the tent and the resilient rods are inserted one end into a connector and a second end into a slot such that the resilient rods extend along the sides of the tent and support the top portion of the tent above the ground.

Abstract: The combination backpack and cushion device comprises a padded member which is placed on top of a stadium seat and a compartment member which extends horizontally below the seat. The device includes a sleeve member which is placed over a stadium seat and interconnects the padded member and compartment. The device includes pockets for storage of articles and is carried to an event by adjustable backpack straps.

Abstract: This invention is a simplified combination backpack, cot and tent formed and integrated around a lightweight hinged metal frame which unfolds at hinge to form cot and internal tent frame structure. The tent, with draft skirt stored within the two halves of the folded frame, is then erected for shelter protection. After the frame is unfolded, the backpack will be suspended from the underside of the cot, off the ground and accessible from inside the tent through the cot fabric by means of a zipper.

The backpack includes a pair of shoulder straps secured to the backpack such that, with the straps positioned over the shoulders of a person, the front panel faces and is generally parallel to the back of the person while the backpack is worn. The pad includes a first face and a second face, with the pad being connected to the backpack by at least one pad strap, such that the pad is movable between a first position, where the first face contacts the front panel, and a second position, where the first face is placed on a chair seat and the backpack rests upon a horizontal support surface. The retaining strap includes a fixed end connected to the backpack adjacent the top of the front panel, and a free end.
