Abstract: There is provided a pulse wave detector. A body portion includes a pulse wave detection sensor which detects a pulse wave from an artery in a wrist of a user. A strip-shaped band member secures the body portion to the wrist. In a secured state where the body portion is secured to the wrist with the band member, the body portion is placed in a position where a process of an ulna in the wrist or a process of a radius in the wrist is exposed. The band member includes a first region, and a second region which is higher in stretchability than the first region. In the secured state, the second region is at least in contact with the process of the ulna in the wrist or the process of the radius in the wrist.
Abstract: A wearable band of a size and length suitable to be positioned around a limb, or other body part, of a user, said band comprising a flexible bistable strip movable between a first state, in which it is substantially axially straight, and a second, ring-like state, and having a yield point, said band being configured such that generally radial application of pressure exceeding said yield point to an end of said hand causes it to move, under its own tension, from said first state to said second state, wherein a portion of the length of said bistable strip at a free end thereof has a progressively reducing width and/or thickness such that the tensile force in said portion, when said band is in said first configuration, gradually lessens along said portion toward said free end.
Abstract: A wrist-worn device having the form of a continuous loop. The device comprises a plurality of elongate links, each link comprising at least one magnet, the links being connected to form a chain with neighbouring links being pivotable with respect to one another about a pivot axis that is substantially radial with respect to said loop. The magnets of neighbouring links have a respective positioning and polarity to provide an attractive force between the pair of neighbouring links when the pair of neighbouring links are in a side-by-side arrangement, whereby the chain of links has a first configuration in which the links are retained by the attractive force in the side-by-side arrangement, and a second configuration of greater length than the first configuration.

Abstract: A wristworn device having a releasable coupling mechanism for releasably coupling a first strap section and a second strap section about a user's wrist. The wristworn device includes an elongated member that is positioned within a channel of one of the strap sections and which has an actuation section that extends from the channel. A directional force upon the actuation section of the elongated member causes a slidable locking plate in the releasable coupling mechanism to move in a direction and disengage from a locking member, whereby separation of the sections of the releasable coupling mechanism is facilitated upon the disengagement of the slidable locking plate from the locking member.

Abstract: A strap-type watch band construction is fabricated from a blank. The blank includes three sections. A first section is folded over forming a double layer portion that is stitched and secures a buckle and a keeper and supports a watch casing, which is preferably slidably supported thereon. A second section is a single layer of the blank, extends from the first section, and includes apertures therethrough for receiving the buckle. A third section extends from the second section and is folded over to form a tip portion. The third section improves gripping and facilitates insertion of the tip portion through the buckle and the keeper. The single layer construction of the second section facilitates putting the watch band construction on the wrist as it is flexible and tends to form around the wrist.
Abstract: A band that may be utilized for a timepiece, such as a watch, is disclosed. The band may have a plurality of joined links, and each link includes a cover member, an extension element, a first springbar, and a second springbar. The extension element defines a first channel and a second channel, the first springbar extends through the first channel to secure the extension element to the cover member, and the second springbar extends through the second channel to join the extension element to an adjacent cover member. In addition, the cover member is configured to join with an adjacent extension element that is separate from the extension element.

Abstract: A band which can be changed easily and speedily comprises a first band member to which a case is attached detachably, a second band member disposed to overlap on the first band member, and a loop into which the second band member and a right end portion of the first band member are inserted to overlap each other to secure the right end portion of the first band member to the second band member detachably. By pulling out the right end portion of the first band member from the loop, the right end portion of the first band member can be detached from the second band member.
