Handgun Receiver Patents (Class 224/238)
  • Patent number: 4912867
Abstract: A firearm safety apparatus and method of using same are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a sleeve formed of a flexible plastic material capable of being flexed from a normal position to a flexed position to surroundingly receive an associated firearm and spring urged lever means for locking the hammer of the associated firearm in the uncocked position. The sleeve has front and rear ends, the rear end being open to receive the associated firearm and the front end having an aperture to receive the barrel of the associated firearm. The spring urged lever means includes a lever arm rotatably mounted within the sleeve by a pivot pin. In the operative position, a spring urges the end portion of the lever arm downwardly to engage the hammer of the associated firearm, thereby locking the hammer in the uncocked position.

  • Patent number: 4898310
Abstract: A pistol holster is worn within the recess defined by the small of the back and includes an attached pad which engages the back in this region and an adjustable padded support belt which snugly embraces the waist of the wearer substantially at the anatomical center of gravity. The holster body and the weapon contained therein are set at an angle to the horizontal plane through the anatomical center of gravity in which the support belt is located and the particular angle of inclination of the holster body is determined by the line of balance of the particular type of pistol being held in the holster through the center of gravity of the pistol. The center of gravity of the wearer is correlated with the center of gravity of the pistol being held in the holster to promote comfort and safety and freedom from injury during all types of physical activity required by specialized military personnel, S.W.A.T. team members and woodsmen.

  • Patent number: 4858799
Abstract: A locking mechanism for attachment to a hand gun holster, the locking mechanism having a control of a locked position which prevents removal of the hand gun from its holster and a continuum of unlocked positions with progressively more force required to extract the hand gun out of its holster as the force is increased by the operator. A single rotary control allows for setting the mechanism to the fully locked position or to any of the continuum of restraining positions.

  • Patent number: 4815641
Abstract: A flap holster with the flap pivotally and removably secured to either side of an ambidextrious holster. The holster inlcudes an opening for the insertion and removal of a handgun and a transverse slot below the opening on each side. The flap is pivotally connected to one side of the holster and extends over the handgun opening. On the underside of the flap, an extensible strip is secured at one end to the flap and includes an end hook at the opposite end to engage one of the transverse slots and secure the flap in place. The extensible strap is preferably captured in a fabric tunnel in the underside of the flap. An inextensible flexible strap is secured at both ends to the extensible strap to limit its extension length to avoid over stressing its elastic properties. The hook is preferably a reverse directed tab dimensioned to slip into the transverse slot allowing the elasticity of the extensible strip to hold the flap closed.

  • Patent number: 4718585
Abstract: The present invention includes a holster for carrying a hand gun. The holster includes a body having a compartment for receiving a hand gun on its outer surface. A belt loop is provided on the inner surface of the body. A first tab and a second tab are joined to opposite sides of the body. The tabs include belt loops on their respective inner surfaces. The tabs are aligned on the body so that the belt loops of the first tab, second tab and body can simultaneously receive a belt. When worn, a trouser belt loop can be inserted between the first tab loop and the body loop, or between the second tab loop and the body loop, to prevent the holster from sliding with respect to a belt.

  • Patent number: 4690315
Abstract: A universal clip for carrying objects such as a holster or other object on the belt of a wearer. The clip includes an elongated body of generally flat material such as sheet metal with an integral hinge pin socket at one end region and a pair of integral catches at the other end region. A resilient member such as a length of spring wire extends through the integral hinge and pivots into a spaced parallel relationship with the body and is secured by the integral catches. The resiliency of the spring wire allows reliable engagement with the catches. The body and the leg portions of the spring wire define a flat tunnel through the clip for receiving the wearer's belt. The integral hinge pin socket extends generally from side to side of the clip and thereby provides a stable support for any object carried.

  • Patent number: 4627558
Abstract: An ambidextrious military type holster designed for belt, leg, chest or shoulder carrying with or without a flap. The holster employs a layered body with the outer two layers defining pairs of horizontally disposed and vertically disposed slots on each major face of the holster adapted to receive a belt on either side through the horizontally disposed pairs of slots or a clip through the vertically disposed pairs of slots. The flap may be secured by the clip and includes an extensible strap and hook for securing the flap to the holster body by one of the slots. The clip includes a generally planar body defining a pair of facing opening catches at one end and a hinge at the opposite end. A resilient member forms the hinge pin of the hinge and includes a pair of resilient legs which are pivotal over the generally planar body and includes knee portions which engage the catches and define a belt or strap slot with the body. An extender strap allows the holster to be used as a leg holster.

  • Patent number: 4480776
Abstract: A nylon fabric holster for hand guns having strap-like tabs secured together by hook and loop fasteners for holding the hand gun in the holster. The tabs may be separated by running the thumb between the hook and loop fasteners. However, the hammer spur associated with the hand gun is pressed against the inner surfaces of the tabs upon forcible withdrawal of the hand gun from the holster to prevent the tabs from separating. The tab construction thus prevents the hand gun from being forcibly removed from the holster when the tabs are secured together.

  • Patent number: 4325505
Abstract: A holster for a handgun comprises a case for receiving the handgun and a flap member mounted on the case. The flap member provides a cover member for the handgun having an offset hinge associated therewith. The offset hinge comprises a pair of spaced apart arms extending from the cover member and pivotally mounted to the case to provide for swinging movement of the cover through a path clear of the case between open and closed positions. In the open position the cover member is clear of the top of the case and at an over-center position relative to the axis of pivot so as to be maintained thereat. Snap fasteners, separate from the offset hinge, secure the cover to the case in the closed position to assure a maximum degree of safety, security and protection to the holstered handgun.

  • Patent number: 4298150
Abstract: A holster which is adapted to be used with a particular type of pistol wherein the pistol has a slide which is movable with respect to the barrel and movement of the slide causes charging of the pistol. The holster includes a sheath which is adapted to be located closely about the free end of the slide of the pistol. The sheath includes a stop in the form of a protuberance which is to engage with the slide and prevent relative movement in one direction of the slide. Movement in this one direction causes the barrel to protrude from the slide resulting in the necessary motion to cause charging of the pistol.
