A swivel connection between the two allows limited rotation of the body with respect to the clip when the clip is extended for belt wearing. The body is restricted from rotation when the clip is realigned to an aligned position for inverted wearing as on the chest. The body includes an integral catch on one side of the blade receiving opening and an internal spring on the opposite side for biasing the blade of the knife toward the catch. An auxiliary flexible loop aids in holding the knife or bayonet in the scabbard.

  • Patent number: 5016796
Abstract: A holder for a right triangular speed square, having a transverse flange extending along one side, includes a pair of side panels disposed in spaced, parallel relation which define a hollow interior having front, rear and bottom openings in the form of elongated slots. An inclined rear wall connects the side panels and separates the rear and bottom openings. Apertures in the side panels cooperate with rivets to secure the holder to a carpenter's apron. The rear wall abuts a side of the speed square forming the hypotenuse. An elongated, rectangular tubular portion formed along top edges of the side panels possesses a floor with a central opening communicating with the hollow interior portion and defining aligned, opposed, spaced ledge members which abut the transverse flange. A pair of upstanding tabs disposed on the ledge members adjacent the front opening, on opposite sides of the central opening, engage a leading edge of the transverse flange.

  • Patent number: 4951856
Abstract: A pen pack is disclosed which is mountable on the back of the writing hand of a user to provide ready access to a writing, marking or scribing implement when required. The pen pack includes a telescopic writing implement and an actuating mechanism disposed in a casing which may be readily affixed to the wearer's hand. The actuating mechanism includes a plunger which is depressed against an external object to actuate the pen pack, a feeder line subassembly which coacts with the plunger, and a rotational shaft which also coacts with the plunger and to which the telescopic writing instrument is affixed. Depression of the plunger causes the telescopic writing instrument to rotate into a writing position. Concomitantly, the feeder line subassembly causes the telescopic writing instrument to be extended to a fully telescoped position so that the user may grip the writing instrument and utilize it for writing, marking or scribing.

Abstract: A holder for a speed square is cylindrically shaped to receive an edge of the square and allow the balance of the square to project out, away from the body. In one form, the slot in the square receives a curved tang, and the square rests on a cam surface so gravity urges the square around and down to a holding slot. A complementary slot prevents loss of the square when a person bends over. In another form of the holder, a straight slot receives the flanged edge of the square. In either case, the tool holder may have a flared base for greater stability when the holder is set on a flat surface.
