Abstract: Provided is a device including a body, driveshaft, plate and driver. The body includes a receptacle and a recess. The receptacle is to receive a pasta strand and to communicate a portion of the pasta strand into the recess. The driveshaft extends through the body and the recess, and has a first portion extending in relation to the receptacle and a second portion extending in relation to the recess. The plate is secured to the second portion and includes a planar surface having a radial projection extending toward the recess. The planar surface is to abut the portion of the pasta strand received into the recess. The driver has an axial opening to removeably engage the first portion. The driver is enabled to rotate the driveshaft that in turn rotates the plate causing the projection to break the pasta strand.

The ribbon is restrained by selectively contacting a first side and a second side of the ribbon in one of an opposite, overlapping or offset relation. The ribbon can be restrained prior to, substantially simultaneous with or subsequent to forming the score line. The restrained status of the ribbon is maintained during and immediately after separation of the pane from the ribbon, thereby reducing the introduction of a disturbance or bending moment into the upstream ribbon.

Abstract: Disclosed is a blade snap-off holder which enables a safe, easy and smooth operation for snapping off a blade tip of a cutter knife. The holder has an insertion opening on its wall. A tip of a knife blade inserted through the opening is received in a groove of a rotary member located inside the holder. The rotation axis of the rotary member extends substantially parallel to the score of the knife blade. When the rotary member is rotated and a bending force is applied to the tip of the knife blade, the blade tip received in the groove of the rotary member can be snapped off. A user only grasps this holder in one hand and rotates the operation lever with a finger, and then a blade tip can be snapped off cleanly and easily without any subtle control of a force.

It includes a clamp which holds the coated optical fiber, having a glass fiber and the coating, on both sides of a portion-to-be-cut, a disk-shaped blade member which moves at the portion-to-be-cut in a direction orthogonal to an axis of the optical fiber to cut the coating and to provide a slit into the glass fiber, and a support which presses, with a predetermined pressing force, the portion-to-be-cut from an opposite side of the blade member with respect to the portion-to-be-cut when cutting the coating and providing the slit into the glass fiber. A head of the support is formed with a groove along a sliding direction of the blade member.

Abstract: A device for opening medicinal ampules is an apparatus to protect oneself from injury and prevent possible waste when utilizing injection medication dispensed in ampules. The device has a box type assembly with approximate dimensions of four inches wide, two inches deep and two inches high. The interior of the box is capable of holding up to three ampules at one time. The ampules are simply placed in their holding holes, and the lid is lowered. A sharp smack, administered by the user's hand and cushioned by foam padding, is adequate to snap off the neck of the ampules. The invention then serves as a holder for the ampule body while removing the medication with a syringe and for safe disposal thereafter.
