  • Publication number: 20020190092
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a protective cover for a breaking apparatus, and a breaking apparatus provided with such a protective cover. The protective cover is formed of two elongated cover parts having a substantially L-shaped cross section; the longitudinal edge portions of the cover parts are arranged together, thus forming a tubular structure having a substantially rectangular cross section. Adjusting the mutual position of the L-shaped cover parts enables to adjust the dimensions of the cross section of the protective cover still during assembly.

When a plate glass mother material 20 is pressurized by an indenter 191, and cut in a portion of groove D1, vibration is momentarily generated. The vibration is transmitted to a vibration sensor 193 via an indenter base 190. Subsequently, at the time when the vibration sensor 193 detects the vibration, a Z-axis servo motor 192 of a pressing device 19 stops, and pressing by the indenter 191 stops. • Patent number: 6132161
Abstract: A chip supplying apparatus for picking chips from a wafer positioned on an elastic film is disclosed. The chip supplying apparatus includes a shifting device, a clutch device, a film-expanding device, and a chip-picking device. In the present chip supplying apparatus, the input torque provided by the clutching device for driving the film-expanding device to perform a film-expanding operation is orthogonal to the resulting rotation torque of the film-expanding device. Therefore, when the film-expanding operation is performed, the film-expanding device will not shake. In other words, the present chip supplying apparatus can perform stable film-expanding operation.

  • Patent number: 6116487
Abstract: A method of sweeping overflowed resin on a semiconductor device manufacturing process and an apparatus using the method are provided. The method comprises the steps of applying a breaking force to part of the top or back face of overflowed resin, which is leaked in resin-sealing the semiconductor device and stuck on the side wall surface of the lead, dam bar, etc. to be filled and hardened in each opening formed by the boundaries of the lead, dam bar, etc., so as to separate the overflowed resin into a separated resin piece and a residual resin remained sticking on the side wall surface of the lead, dam bar, etc.; making the separated resin piece come into contact with residual resin via the ruptured face; and applying a pressing-through force to part of the top or back face of the separated resin piece in the opposite direction to the breaking force to effectively separate and sweep at least part of the stuck residual resin via the separated resin piece.

  • Patent number: 6102268
Abstract: A device for removing pre-cut portions of a material sheet (10) comprising scores or the like. The sheet is placed on the cutting surface (2) of a die (1) so that the pre-cut portion (11) covers an opening (3) in the die (1). The opening (3) in the die (1) comprises at least one recess (4) extending radially towards the axis of the opening (3) and communicating therewith. The recess (4) is shaped in such a way that the head (7A) of a blade (7B) forming a resilient abutment member is retained therein. The blade (7B) yields to the pre-cut portion when a cutting member (12) passing through the opening (3) in the die (1) exerts pressure thereon. The free end of the blade (7B) prevents the discarded portion (11) from returning after each cutting step.

  • Patent number: 6019267
Abstract: Method and apparatus for separating a bundle of blank pieces from a stack of sheets. The apparatus has a frame and a subframe which pivots with respect to the frame. The frame and subframe each have a clamp for clamping the stack of sheets along a stack plane and the bundle portion to be separated from the stack along a separation plane that intersects the stack plane. The subframe pivots with respect to the frame, bending the stack to cause the bundle portion to be separated from the remainder of the stack in such a way that separation is initiated at one point along the stack rather than across the whole stack or across an entire sheet of the stack. The subframe pivots about an axis that is skewed with respect to at least one of the planes to produce the described effect.

  • Patent number: 5987737
Abstract: A device and method for positioning a resin-sealed lead frame that includes semiconductor devices and resin for sealing the semiconductor devices on the lead frame. A break unit is provided for moving the resin-sealed lead frame to a break table. The break unit includes a vacuum suction portion to hold the resin-sealed lead frame during movement and to release it when the resin-sealed lead frame is brought into a receiving opening associated with the break table. The receiving opening is defined by a plurality of guides with the outer tip portions of the guides providing the receiving opening as a space larger than that occupied by the outer configuration of the resin-sealed lead frame. The guides have a slope to position the resin-sealed lead frame onto the break table after it is released in the receiving opening. The break unit further includes push down pins for pushing down and breaking off unwanted extra portions of resin from beneath the resin-sealed lead frame.

Abstract: This invention pertains to apparatus and methods for breaking a web along spaced lines of weakness. The invention includes a compact breaker bar assembly comprising at least one breaker bar in a gap. The apparatus also includes driving apparatus to power the breaker bar assembly in breaking the web. In some embodiments, one or more breaker bars engage and stress the web along a single transverse line across the web, breaking the web. In other embodiments, at least first and second breaker bars engage and stress the web along spaced first and second transverse lines across the web. The breaker bars can be mounted on one or more rotary elements, or can be mounted on one or more belts or other breaker bar carriers, traversing closed-loop paths.

  • Patent number: 5979728
Abstract: An apparatus for breaking a wafer into individual devices. An anvil 100 is pressed against a flexible membrane 304 on which a wafer 300 is attached. A vacuum is applied to the anvil 100 which allows the flexible membrane 304 and the wafer 300 to be pressed against the face of the anvil 100. As the flexible membrane 304 is deformed against the anvil 100, the wafer 300 breaks into individual devices 302. Dicing debris that is created when the wafer 300 is broken falls into a base fixture 408 so that the debris does not contact and damage the devices 302.

Abstract: An ampule separator which can efficiently cut off ampules from a strip of series-connected plastic ampules. A strip of series-connected plastic ampule is put in a stocker having an outlet at its bottom, with the individual ampules arranged horizontally. A pair of horizontally arranged rotors are provided under the outlet of the stocker. Each rotor is formed, in its outer peripheral surface, with a groove in which the body of a plastic ampule can be partially received.
