Movable Breaking Tool Patents (Class 225/103)
  • Patent number: 5913468
Abstract: An improved method and device for separating parts from the sheet metal carrier. In particular, a single sheet from a stack of sheets having parts micro-joined to the carrier sheet is transported to the nip of a pair of pinch rollers. The pinch rollers move down to engage the front edge of the sheet, the pinch rollers moving the sheet to the nip formed between a pair of main rollers. The main rollers then move together to the drive position and transport the sheet to a separation device on the opposite side of the main rollers. The main rollers drive the sheet material in a manner such that the top surface of the leading edge of the sheet metal is engaged below the forward tip of the separation device. The separation device is then moves downwardly so that the upper surface of the separation device assembly is level to the part pass line.

Abstract: For a device for fracture separating bearing covers of aligned bearing bores in bearing arrangements of a machine member, which comprises a guided separating element which is profiled in an approximately semicircular shape and acts in the center onto a bearing cover in the bearing bore, for obtaining a device which is structurally simple, it is suggested that, for the fracture separating, a half-mandrel or full mandrel, which can be axially arranged in one or several bearing bores, is provided. An operating linkage, which only causes the guiding of the respective mandrel in the fracture separating direction, is applied to the respective mandrel transversely to its longitudinal course, the respective mandrel being held in a rotationally secured manner and each bearing cover being rotationally secured while being clamped against the respective mandrel.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a blister pack opener which includes a structure designed to receive a soft pack of individually segregated unit dosages of medication. The opener or soft pack puncturing mechanism has a base segment and a top segment hingedly connected to one another. The base segment has an orifice located thereon which is of sufficient size to receive a unit dosage section of a soft pack commonly referred to as a "blister" and the top segment has a protrusion adapted to nest within the orifice of the bottom segment. The protrusion of the top segment has sufficient height so as to puncture a dosage unit section of a soft pack of medication. When a dosage unit or "blister" is placed within the orifice of the bottom segment and the top segment is hingedly pushed downwardly, the protrusion on the top segment will puncture the foil or flat element of the blister pack. Preferably, the puncture mechanism has toothed edges on this protrusion to enhance puncturing.

Abstract: A method and a device are provided for obtaining semiconductor bars for laser devices starting from portions of a processed wafer and carrying out the cleavage in ultra-high-vacuum. The cleavage mechanical stresses are impulsive forces and are all applied from the processed side of the wafer through a lowerable shaped member actuated by compressed helical springs, which applies these stresses on the ledging parts of the wafer portion held on a central region thereof by a fixed support and held down in position by a suitably shaped centering thrust member. The spring-up occurs by translating the device in the ultra-high-vacuum environment and opposing a locking lever engaging the lowerable member in an upper or first position with a fixed cam.

Abstract: Apparatus for automatic scribing and breaking of semiconductor wafers wherein scribing is performed at a scribing station and the scribed wafer transported in the X direction to a breaking station on an X-Y table. Scribing and breaking of parallel lines is accomplished by transporting the wafer step-wise in the Y direction by the Y table. Rotation of the wafer for scribing and breaking along sets of lines perpendicular to one another is accomplished by a theta table carried on the Y table. An impulse bar is carried by the X table for applying force to the bottom surface of the wafer during both scribing and breaking. In one embodiment, upward movement of the wafer during breaking is resisted by an anvil positioned above the wafer. In a second embodiment, such upward movement is resisted by a vacuum chuck beneath the wafer, to avoid contact with the upper wafer surface.

The frame and subframe each have a clamp for clamping the stack of sheets along a stack plane and the bundle portion to be separated from the stack along a separation plane that intersects the stack plane. The subframe pivots with respect to the frame, bending the stack to cause the bundle portion to be separated from the remainder of the stack in such a way that separation is initiated at one point along the stack rather than across the whole stack or across an entire sheet of the stack. The subframe pivots about an axis that is skewed with respect to at least one of the planes to produce the described effect.

The panel (14) which is to be divided and which is raised away from its substrate is securely held in its part regions by two clamping devices (10, 12) which are pivoted in opposite directions about a common pivot axle (4) and thus exert on the panel (14) a bending resulting in breakage along the score line (30). • Patent number: 5219107
Abstract: A method for producing a glass knife, in which a flat glass plate (511) is divided by breaking along a divising line (23) scratched on said plate. The plate is placed on two lower supporting pins (9, 10), positioned by the use of means (7, 8) cooperating with the side edge surfaces of the glass plate, and is fixed by means of two upper supporting pins (17, 18) which are made to engage the upper face of said plate. Each pair of supporting pins has a line of symmetry perpendicular to the line of symmetry of the other pair, one line of symmetry coinciding with the dividing plane. Before the glass plate is broken by moving the supporting pins towards one another, the positioning means (7,8) are, at least partially, disengaged from the glass plate, such that essentially only the forces deriving from the supporting pins act upon the glass plate during the breaking thereof.

  • Patent number: 5215383
Abstract: A continuous strip of ticket stock from which individual tickets can be separated includes an elongated strip of a ticket stock material and, at each preselected ticket-separation location, a collinear transversely extending perforation, bursting slot, and slit at each end of the bursting slot. A ticket dispenser for dispensing individual tickets from such a strip of stock includes a drive mechanism that drives the strip of ticket stock in both a forward direction and a reverse direction through a bursting station. The bursting station includes a burst barb, and a guide that permits the strip of ticket stock to move past the burst barb when the strip of ticket stock is driven in the forward direction, and to engage the burst barb to the bursting slot when the strip of ticket stock is driven in the reverse direction. The burst barb propagates a separation from the bursting slot outwardly through the perforation to separate the individual ticket cleanly from the strip.
