Abstract: A wire injector apparatus for impelling wire or injecting wire is provided. The wire injector has a motorized pulley system connected to a drive wheels for moving the wire laterally through the apparatus. Further, upper and lower idler wheels are arranged about the drive wheels to engage the wire with the drive wheels. A clamp connects the upper idler wheels to the lower idler wheels such that a single actuated lever can control and position multiple upper and/or lower idler wheels. Wire line paths for moving the wire are provided intermediate to the drive wheels and the idler wheels. The arrangement of the components of the wire injector allows for customizing the number of idler wheels and drive wheels to, in turn, provide any number of wire line paths for impelling or injecting any number of wires.

An arm (8) is provided to oscillate between a guiding position, in which the arm at least partly surrounds the periphery of the driving wheel (1) so as to form a guiding channel (C3) for the strap (R), and an opening position of release, away from the driving wheel (1), into which the arm is moved by said strap when it stops, and in which it controls the removal of the pressure wheel (4) so as to release the feeding pressure. The oscillating arm (8) extends, beyond its part surrounding the periphery of the driving wheel (1), into a counter-bent portion which determines a saddle path (C4) for the strap (R).

Abstract: A safety device for the roll space within a calender or other roll machine is disclosed. The rolls when rotating, excite oscillations in the beam at the resonant frequency of the beam. This can occur during start-up or during normal operation. The safety device of the present invention comprises a beam and additional mass that is oscillatorily suspended from the beam in order to reduce the amplitude of the beam oscillations at the beam resonant frequency. In addition, a damping element between additional mass and the beam is used to reduce any undesired oscillations due to newly created resonant frequencies introduced into the system.

  • Patent number: 5326011
Abstract: A web of material, typically paper, metal or film and most commonly roll photographic plate material, passes between a first, driven, roller made from material with a high coefficient of friction, typically neoprene rubber, and a second, driven, roller made from material with a low coefficient of friction, typically metal or nylon. The high-friction drive roller (only) is positionally adjustable. The web is driven straight ahead, without appreciable undesirable steering or skew, over a broad range of adjustments of the separation, and the parallelism, between the two rollers. The web motion is responsive substantially to only the high-friction drive roller, and the web speed may accordingly be regulated, including so as to be maintained highly uniform, in response to the drive roller (only).

  • Patent number: 5321792
Abstract: A coating material to be evaporated in an evaporator cell disposed in a vacuum chamber is fed in the form of a wire to the evaporator cell in accordance with the depth of the molten bath, by a wire transport including a motor-driven shaft or roller and a counter-roller mounted on a movably journaled lever which in turn is movable via an electromagnetic actuator against the force of a spring means. A wire feed tube is arranged between the wire transport which draws fusible wire from a remote supply and feeds it to the evaporator boat where the wire is evaporated for coating a band-type substrate. The feed tube has a straight section which receives the wire concentrically from the transport and a gooseneck section toward said evaporator boat which twice deflects the wire to provide three points of contact with the inner wall of the tube, thus accurately positioning the wire while preventing clogging of the outlet orifice.
