  • Patent number: 5860579
Abstract: As a negative film having a multiplicity of perforations provided therein at equal intervals is being transferred, its perforations are detected to produce a corresponding pulse signal. The pulse signal is then fed to a controller which in turn calculates the number of clock pulses for each forty pulses of the pulse signal and determines a transfer distance per clock pulse. Meanwhile, the reference transfer distance is obtained from an interval between the perforations multiplied by forty. A difference between the actual transfer distance and the reference transfer distance is calculated and used for controlling the rotating movement of drive rollers.

  • Patent number: 5809390
Abstract: A continuous forms printer utilizing paper without pinholes along each edge is provided with a first paper transfer device on the input side of the printing station and a second paper transfer device on the output side of the printing station. The two paper transfer devices are operated at slightly different speeds in order to place tension in the continuous forms at the printing station in order to control registration and magnification problems. For example, a vacuum transport belt is placed on the output side and operated at a slightly greater speed than the printer. The belt is provided with friction characteristics and operated at a vacuum pressure to allow slippage of the belt and paper at the desired tension. By placing positive paper control on the output side, the directional stability of the continuous forms is improved thus avoiding skew control problems.

  • Patent number: 4573618
Abstract: An apparatus for unrolling and spreading a long roll of cloth on a work table in which a servo motor is coupled with wheels of a spreader and for running the spreader on the work table. A servo motor is coupled with a dispensing roller and for rolling out the cloth roll rotatably supported on and by the spreader. A servo motor is coupled with a delivery roll for delivering the cloth unrolled by the dispensing roller onto the work table. First sensing means senses a running distance of the spreader. Second and third sensing means sense rotation speeds of the dispensing servo motor and the delivery servo motor, respectively. A control circuit generates a first control output signal to drive and control the running servo motor according to a preset input and the output signal from the first sensing means.

  • Patent number: 4561581
Abstract: Double-faced corrugated board issuing continuously from a double backer is fed into an accumulator pit forming a downwardly extending loop therein. The web is withdrawn intermittently from the upper end of the pit and fed to a reciprocating cutting and creasing press which produces box blanks. Adjustable curved guide supports are provided for the web at the upstream and downstream ends of the accumulator. Curvatures of these supports are adjusted to permit the web, as it enters and leaves the accumulator pit, to assume curves each of a radius that approaches but is no less than a critical radius below which unwanted transverse scores will form in the web.

  • Patent number: 4437619
Abstract: A catenary-like section of traveling web material hanging between a support point and a stepping motor-driven reel rotating to collect or dispense the material is maintained by regulating the stepping motor rate of rotation in accordance with a control signal output of an ultrasonic transducer operating in the pulse/echo mode to continuously monitor the distance between the low point of the catenary-like section and the transducer. A microcomputer connected between the transducer and the motor accelerates and decelerates the rate of stepping motor rotation in accordance with a predetermined program to maintain the catenary section during changes in the distance between the section low point and the transducer.

  • Patent number: 4384665
Abstract: A stock loop controller is disclosed which measures the round trip time of an ultrasonic signal transmitted to the stock loop and its return echo to generate a digital signal proportional to such time. The digital signal is converted to an analog signal and compared with a voltage reference across an amplifier. The resultant difference signal is used to control a motor operating the stock loop "take-up" or "feed-out" mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4201132
Abstract: A broad textile web, on its way to a processing station such as a rotary-screen printer, passes around a set of closely juxtaposed but independently rotatable feed rollers that are individually driven via respective differential gear trains each having a first input connected to a common drive shaft and a second input connected to an ancillary stepping motor. Each feed roller engages a strip zone of the web which is scanned by an associated sensor upstream of the roller, the latter detecting the leading and trailing edges of recurrent transverse web sections--e.g. of pile fabric--mechanically, electrically or optically distinguishable from intervening sections. Unequal longitudinal tensions in the several strip zones actuate the sensor-controlled stepping motors for different time periods so as to cancel any relative deformation.
