Abstract: A container for dispensing a beverage includes a top panel, a left panel coupled to the top panel, a right panel coupled to the top panel and opposite the left panel, a first bottom panel coupled to the left panel, the first bottom panel including a first opening, a second bottom panel coupled to the right panel and overlaying the first bottom panel, the second bottom panel including a second opening coincident with the first opening to form at least a portion of a container opening, a front panel coupled to either the left of right panel and a support panel coupled to the front panel and disposed against either the first or second bottom panel.

Abstract: Corrugated container assemblies, such as bulk bins, that include corrugated container bodies and drain fitment retainers. In one embodiment, a corrugated container assembly includes a rectangular corrugated container body having a bottom portion and a top portion. A rectangular liner tray is installed within the container body toward the bottom portion. A flexible and impervious liner is installed on the liner tray within the container body for containing liquid contents, and includes a drain fitment for dispensing the liquid contents. In one aspect of this embodiment, the container body includes a corner structure that can facilitate folding. In another aspect of this embodiment, the liner tray includes a fitment retainer that can accessibly position the drain fitment and at least restrict the drain fitment from moving or rotating.

Abstract: A carton blank having an outer layer of a relatively rigid material, a first inner layer of a relatively rigid material superposed over a portion of the outer layer and a second inner layer of a relatively flexible layer of a fluid impervious material is provided with first and second weakened portions so that, after a carton has been formed from the carton blank, filled with a desired material and sealed, the first weakened portion may be broken to form a flip top lid which when moved in an arcuate path will gradually sever the second weakened portion to form an opening in the carton so that an amount of the desired material may be removed from the carton. The carton also may include a feature which allows the flip top lid to be securely re-closed after initial opening of the lid.

Abstract: Corrugated container assemblies, such as bulk bins, that include corrugated container bodies and drain fitment retainers. In one embodiment, a corrugated container assembly includes a rectangular corrugated container body having a bottom portion and a top portion. A rectangular liner tray is installed within the container body toward the bottom portion. A flexible and impervious liner is installed on the liner tray within the container body for containing liquid contents, and includes a drain fitment for dispensing the liquid contents. In one aspect of this embodiment, the container body includes a corner structure that can facilitate folding. In another aspect of this embodiment, the liner tray includes a fitment retainer that can accessibly position the drain fitment and at least restrict the drain fitment from moving or rotating.

Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for packaging perishable goods comprises an inner insulating container that is quickly and easily formed from a flat sheet of metalized bubble pack material to a finished state that very closely approximates the size and dimensions of the carton. The constructed inner container can be quickly collapsed and reconstructed to improve the stackability and diminish the amount of space required to store the containers prior to use.

Abstract: A tissue-lined box is formed from a carton blank having a generally rectangular bottom panel with a width W, the carton blank having integral side walls and end walls connected with the bottom panel at creased fold lines. Four corner panels, one corner panel positioned at each respective corner of the generally rectangular bottom panel as an integral extension of one of the side wall and the end wall and connected to the other of the side wall and end wall to form the box. Fold lines adapt the box for folding to a flat condition and to an erected open position. A tissue insert has at least one layer of tissue paper and is folded to have at least one folded edge, the width T of the tissue insert taken from the folded edge to the opposite edge being greater to the width W of the bottom panel.

Abstract: A system and method for packing agricultural produce including functionality for: providing a container having at least one communications aperture formed in a wall thereof; providing at least one flexible controlled permeability bag within the container; providing at least one bag aperture in the at least one flexible controlled permeability bag in general registration with the at least one communications aperture; sealing the produce inside the at least one flexible controlled permeability bag within the container, while leaving the at least one bag aperture and the at least one communications aperture open; providing atmosphere treatment within the at least one bag via the at least one bag aperture and the at least one communications aperture; and sealing at least one of the at least one bag aperture and the at least one communications aperture.

Abstract: A shipping container having an internal plastic bag is described, as is the method of forming the container. A flat container blank if first formed. This differs from a conventional blank only in that it has blind score lines centered vertically on each of the end panels. Adhesive strips are placed on or adjacent the major score lines separating the face and end panels of the container. Either a flat or gusseted bag is then laid on the blank with a sealed bottom edge adjacent the outside edges of the bottom flaps of the container. An open end of the bag extends beyond the upper edge of the container. The blank is then folded along the blind score lines to form a partially assembled container that can be shipped flat. Final assembly can be readily done in the field. The container eliminates the need for field insertion of the bag where one is required.

Abstract: A powder container of the present invention is made up of a flexible or deformable bag storing powder therein and a box for accommodating the bag. A seal valve is fitted in an outlet portion formed in the bag while a cap removably closes the outlet portion. When the bag is pressed in the collapsing direction, the powder is prevented from flying about via the seal valve. The powder container is easy to assemble.

Abstract: The present invention is a pouch, which is generally flat in shape having two opposite side walls and reinforcing elements. The reinforcing elements enable the pouch to stand up-right.

Abstract: A reclosable thermoplastic bag having an offset fastener. The bag includes first and second sidewalls, each having a top, a bottom and two opposing side edges, the first and second sidewalls being attached together along the respective bottom and side edges; an inwardly folded top pleat positioned across the first sidewall; a reclosable fastener having at least two cooperating closure members, one closure member being positioned proximate to the top of the first sidewall above the pleat, the other closure member being positioned proximate to the top of the second sidewall, such that when the bag is filled and closed, the reclosable fastener is offset.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a carton and a carton blank having a first sidewall panel, a second sidewall panel joined to the first sidewall panel by a first fold line and a third sidewall panel joined to the first sidewall panel by a second fold line. The carton and carton blank may further have a first top panel joined to the first sidewall panel by a third fold line, a second top panel joined to the second sidewall panel by a fourth fold line and a third top panel joined to the third sidewall panel by a fifth fold line. The second top panel may have a sixth fold line extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the fourth fold line, a first score line intersecting the sixth fold line and wherein the first score line at least partially defines a first tab portion extending from the sixth fold line in a first direction.

Abstract: A reclosable packaged food container, comprising an outer carton and an inner flexible liner. The outer carton has a generally semi-rigid construction, the inner liner is positioned inside the outer carton, and a supply of a food product is disposed in that liner. The outer carton includes a top wall that, in turn, includes first and second opposing top flaps. These flaps are movable between closed and open positions; and in the open position, the top flaps form a top opening, longitudinally extending only partly across the length of the top wall, to provide access to the inner liner. The inner liner includes a top edge and a top portion. That top edge is adapted to form a reclosable pour opening at the top of the top portion of the liner. In addition, the top portion of the liner is adapted to form a collapsible pouring spout extending only partly across the top edge of the liner and also extending through the top opening in the carton to dispense the food product from the liner.

Abstract: A method of preparing a carton with a prefolded interior paper lining includes feeding carton blanks having a surface, the surface having leading and trailing edges and right and left side edges, feeding a paper web, folding the paper web to have a base portion having an edge and at least a first flap joining the base portion at a first crease, cutting a section off the paper web, and inserting the paper section with the carton blank surface, such that the edge and crease of the base portion of the paper are spaced a predetermined distance inward from each respective carton blank side edge.

Abstract: A flexible bladder is enclosed within a plurality of overlapping plastic sheets, with the ends of the sheets being secured in place by the weight of the flexible bladder, when filled. The preferred plastic is an extruded, twin-walled, fluted plastic based upon a polypropylene copolymer. In a alternative embodiment, a pair of hexagonal, coaxial sleeves of the preferred plastic have an internal bladder for shipping materials. With both embodiments, hot chocolate is pumped into the bladder and cooled, in situ, to stop the chocolate from cooking further. The container is shipped, and then the chocolate is heated to facilitate pumping the chocolate out of the container. The cooling and heating processes involve the use of a heat exchange pad located between the bladder and the inner sleeve.

Abstract: A container including an outer shell, a flexible bag within the outer shell, a mouth and a handle. The outer shell has a top, a bottom and sidewalls. The outer shell also defines an opening. The flexible bag within the outer shell defines an aperture. The mouth is secured to said flexible bag surrounding said aperture and defines a fluid passageway. The mouth is sized and shaped such that fluid can be poured through the mouth from a source having an outlet spaced above the mouth. The handle extends outward from said top of said outer shell and has sufficient strength to provide essentially all support for said container when the bag is filled with liquid in either of two positions, with the first position being where the opening is facing upwards and the second position being where opening is facing sidewards. Desirably, the mouth and opening are sized and shaped such that when the opening is facing upwards the human eye can detect when a level of fluid in the container is approaching the mouth.

Abstract: A food storage container has a generally rigid tubular sleeve with a generally constant cross-sectional shape along the length thereof and with first and second open ends. A flexible inner storage bag is located within the generally rigid tubular sleeve for storing a food product, and, most preferably, for storing potato chips or other food chips. A generally rigid sleeve includes a first tab adjacent the first open end of the outer sleeve formed by cutting a corner of the outer sleeve and folding the cut corner inward and a second tab adjacent the second open end of the outer sleeve formed by cutting a corner of the outer sleeve and folding the cut corner inward. These first and second tabs retain the inner storage bag within the sleeve. The tabs can be manually moved aside to access the inner bag and thus the food contents therein.

Abstract: A reclosable, stackable, standable package for food products such as baked goods easily converts from a parallelepiped form to a widened shape on top for easy access to the snack which is contained within an inner liner bag. The package stays in a widened open configuration throughout hand-to-mouth snacking even while resting on its front or back panel. The outer carton of the package has score lines on the front and the back panels of the carton extending from the lower corners of the front and the back panels to the center of the upper edge of the front and the back panels. Score lines also extend across the center of the top front and back flaps. The score lines in combination with the disconnected top flaps design not only allows the top of the package to form a wide oval shaped opening for easy access to the packaged goods, but also allows the package to stay opened while snacking.
