Abstract: A container for pourable food comprises an initially sealed body portion for holding the pourable food and a drink spout for drinking from the container. The proximal end of a base portion of the drink spout is permanently attached to the outer surface of the container, and has an opening to receive pourable food from the body of the container. The distal end of the base portion has an opening for drinking the pourable food from the container. The drink spout comprises a lid portion initially attached to the base portion to seal the opening at the distal end by a breakable sealing portion. The drink spout comprises a connection portion permanently attaching the lid portion to the base portion. The connection portion is a flexure hinge allowing the lid portion to pivot away from the base portion after the breakable sealing portion has been broken.

Abstract: There is disclosed a magnetic tray having a first tray and a second tray connected to each other and which are the same or substantially the same. The first and second trays are collapsible and expandable. The first and second trays each include a body member adapted to be collapsible and expandable; a base member adapted to fit in the bottom of the body member and having a magnet on a first side of the base member and one or more magnets on a second side of the base member; and a collar member having a hinge member and a lock member. The first tray and the second tray are connected to each other by the hinge members. The first tray and the second trays are adapted to be separable by the hinge members.

Abstract: A tamper-resistant air-permeable container includes a cover having a bottom that is formed with a first wall having primary troughs and primary blocks and formed with a retaining engagement portion; and a box including a receiving space and having a second wall that is provided with a first step part lower than the second wall and a second step part lower than the first step part to define forming therebetween a retaining engagement groove. The second wall is formed with secondary troughs, each including a curved section, such that each of the secondary troughs has a curved configuration. When the cover is combined with the box, the retaining engagement portions of the cover are fit into and retained in the retaining engagement groove. The primary troughs and the secondary troughs form passages in communication with the receiving space.

Abstract: A unit dose paperboard package includes an outer paperboard sleeve and an inner paperboard slide card lockably retained within the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve includes a plurality of panels operatively connected to each other such that a top panel of the plurality of panels includes an inner slide card retaining aperture and an inner slide card releasing button defined thereon. The inner slide card includes an inner slide card retaining and releasing panel. The slide card release button includes a longitudinally extending tab defined by a cut in the sleeve, with a root of the tab between ends of the cut, and with a moveable tab edge opposite the root of the tab. The card retaining aperture extends longitudinally past the moveable tab edge in a first direction, but does not extend longitudinally past the root of the tab in a second direction opposite the first direction.

Abstract: A resealable label is disclosed, the label having a top layer and a bottom layer. The top layer may be one or more ply, and the bottom layer may be one or more ply. The top layer is adhered to the bottom layer via an adhesive layer therebetween. The bottom layer includes a concave perforation, the concave perforation having a line defined by endpoints of the concave perforation. The label further includes a layer of deadener between the label layers, the deadener being on the convex side of the perforation, and terminating at the line, the line extending to opposing edges of the label, where the deadener is at least some distance away from the perforation such that the deadener and the perforation do not abut. The label may further have a layer of adhesive on the bottom layer for adhering the label to a surface. The disclosure further includes a reclosure system that includes the resealable label and an inner label for mounting on a surface.

Abstract: Authenticity and responsiveness of evidence (e.g., biometric evidence) may be validated without regard for whether there is direct control over a sensor that acquired the evidence. In some implementations, only a data block containing evidence that is (1) appended with a server-generated challenge (e.g., a nonce) and (2) signed by the sensor may validate that the evidence is responsive to a current request and belongs to a current session. In some implementations, trust may be established and/or enhanced due to one or more security features (e.g., anti-spoofing, anti-tampering, and/or other security features) being collocated with the sensor at the actual sampling site.

Abstract: A reclosable package is described that includes a package integrity feature defined by an inner film layer of the package. The package integrity feature includes a first die cut portion and a second die cut portion that both extend from a main die cut portion at least partially defining the opening of the package. The first and second die cut portions are continuous with each other and with the main die cut portion, such that they are defined by a single cut line. In some cases, the package integrity feature includes a neck region that tears when the package is opened and an anchor region that resists delamination. Because the first and second die cut portions are continuously formed with each other, the anchor region may have a circular or elliptical shape and is, thus, easier and more consistently manufactured, allowing for better performance.

Abstract: A form, fill and seal packaging machine for forming, filling and sealing a carton, molds a closure directly onto the carton. The machine includes a carton erection station adapted to receive a carton in a generally flat form and to erect the flat form carton into a tubular form defining an internal carton region. A direct injection molding station has an internal mold tool and an external mold tool. The internal mold tool is configured for receipt within the internal carton region and the internal mold tool and the external mold tool are configured to receive and clamp the carton therebetween. The direct injection molding station further includes a polymer injection system for injecting polymer from a location external of the carton to the internal mold tool. The closure is directly molded in place on the carton. A mold tool set, a method for carrying out the molding and a closure molded thereby are also disclosed.

A perforating piece (6) is mounted pivotally on the base (2), facing the opening zone, in order to be moved between an initial position in which it is situated entirely outside the container to a final position in which it is situated substantially inside the container. A striker (8) is mounted pivotally on the base (2) in order to push the perforating piece (6) towards the inside of the container while perforating the wall of the latter and to more or less take the initial position of the perforating piece (6), the striker (8) in this last position acting as pourer.

In this regard, the side wall includes a first, paper-based layer and a second, plastic-based layer. The first, paper-based layer has an inner surface and an outer surface. The second, plastic-based layer is bonded to the inner surface of the first, paper-based layer. The bottom closure is connected to the side wall so as to encompass the bottom opening. The plastic lid is openably secure to the tubular body at the upper opening. In this regard, the plastic lid provides selective access to the internal storage region. With this configuration, the plastic lid facilitates rapid fabrication of the canister, as well as providing for increased canister durability.

The tubular body defines an upper opening, a lower opening, and an internal storage region. The bottom panel is connected to the tubular body so as to encompass the lower opening. The top panel is similarly connected to the tubular body so as to encompass the upper opening and includes a lid. The lid is selectively secured to the tubular body at the upper opening such that the lid is moveable from an initial, closed state to an opened state, and from the opened state to a reclosed state. In the initial, closed state, the lid is secured to the tubular body. In the opened state, the lid is displaced from the tubular body to define a pour opening through which the internal storage region is accessible. In the reclosed state, the lid substantially encompasses the pour opening. Finally, the plurality of tabs are associated with the lid in at least the reclosed state.

Abstract: A closure for sealing an opening of a tubular container is disclosed, the closure having a paperboard central panel with a plurality of secondary panels extending angularly therefrom forming a surface around the perimeter of the central panel. A plastic skirt is adhered around the perimeter of the central panel and to one side of the secondary panels opposite the surface to reinforce it. A metal foil layer is adhered to the surface, the foil having a side facing the sidewall of the container with a heat-activated adhesive layer thereon. The closure is positioned on the container with the central panel in registration with the opening and the heat-activated adhesive layer engaging the sidewall of the container. The seal between the closure and the container is effected by subjecting the container to an electromagnetic induction field, whereby eddy currents induced in the metal foil by the field cause the heat-activated adhesive to form a bond between the container sidewall and the secondary panels.
