  • Patent number: 11939121
Abstract: A zipper carton includes a first panel having an elongated slot extending therethrough, the slot having a length extending between opposing ends. A locking panel assembly includes a removable zipper tear strip and a locking tab having a linear length that is greater than the length of the slot. The locking tab includes a base projecting from the removable zipper tear strip and a first retention flap projecting from the base and being foldable relative to the base. The locking tab is configured so that when the first retention flap is folded from a relaxed position to a folded position, at least a portion of the locking tab including the first retention flap can be slid through the slot and after the first retention flap passes through the slot, the retention flap automatically resiliently rebounds at least partially toward the relaxed position so as to block retraction of the locking tab from the slot.

  • Patent number: 6220508
Abstract: A corrugated paperboard bulk box has opposed pairs of parallel side walls, and in a preferred embodiment, has interposed diagonal corner panels to form an octagonal box. The bottom of the box is open in the center and is formed by opposed pairs of interlocking major and minor bottom flaps, wherein one pair of opposed flaps have locking notches in their free edges and the other pair of opposed flaps have locking notches in their outer end edges. The locking notches in the respective pairs of flaps are adapted to interengage when the flaps are folded inwardly toward one another and pressure is exerted on one pair of the flaps, to lock the flaps in their folded relationship. An aligning notch is on a free edge of a pair of opposed bottom flaps for cooperative interengagement with an aligning slot at an adjacent end of the folding connection of an adjacent bottom panel for squaring the box as it is being set up.

Abstract: A carton of foldable material protects an article packed therein by holding the article away from the bottom of the carton, and preferably by holding the article firmly, yet in a cushioning manner, in a position spaced away from all the exterior walls of the carton. The carton is assembled from a blank of foldable material defining a plurality of spacer panels foldably connected to automatic bottom panels, such that when the carton is erected, the auto-bottom panels form a generally planar bottom of the carton, and the spacer panels extend generally axially into the carton from the bottom to form a two-dimensional support base for holding an object at a location spaced above the bottom of the carton. Abstract: A tote box intended for use in very confined locations such as under the counter of the cashier station in a retail clothing establishment, the box having four flaps, each of which has a tab formed in the center of the edge of the flap. Each wall to which the flap is attached has a gripping aperture into which the tab carried by the flap may be inserted while the box is in use. In addition, a bend line provided between the flap-wall junction and the tab means enables the portion of the flap containing the tab means to be easily inserted into the gripping aperture. Further, a slot in each of two opposing end walls functions to receive and restrain the exterior flap of the two flanking flaps.

Abstract: A reinforced display carton is cut from a single sheet of material and folded to form exterior wall panels, bottom flaps and an internal subdividing web, that can be collapsed flat for shipping. The bottom flaps lock together when the carton is erected into a rectilinear state, and engage with the subdividing web, which is reinforced by folded over panels. A barb shaped slotted tongue on one of the bottom flaps fits into a slot between the other bottom flaps to lock them, and straddles a lower edge of the internal web. The subdividing web is formed from an extension of a half-width rear panel folded at a rear glue joint with a second half-width rear panel, and is attached at a glue tab to the back side of the front panel. The web has upper and lower reinforcing panels folded up and down over one another and locked in the slot of the tongue. Access openings extend up to the top edge of the front wall on either side of the central web, and the central web reinforces the carton against vertical forces, e.g.

  • Patent number: 5328088
Abstract: A carton of recyclable material adapted to receive a stack of discarded newspapers to create a transport pack which can, in toto, be recycled at a recycling facility. The carton is formed by a pair of side walls having upper and lower foldable long flaps, and a pair of end walls having upper and lower foldable short flaps. Formed at the corners of the long flaps are latching tongues that are insertable into corresponding slots at the ends of the short flaps. The end walls are accordion-foldable, whereby the carton may be collapsed into a flattened storage state. To put the carton into its loading state, the carton is expanded, the lower short flaps are folded in and the lower long flaps are folded thereover, the latching tongues being then inserted in the slots at the lower corners of the carton to form a bottom ledge on which the newspapers are piled.
