  • Patent number: 6276601
Abstract: A first embodiment of combined letter and envelope includes a single piece of paper divided into halves by a crease. A front half has two regions divided by a first perforation extending through both the front half and the back half of the paper. The rear half is also divided into upper and lower regions at the same perforation. The rear half has a second perforation extending only through the rear half and slightly below the first perforation so that a narrow horizontal strip of paper may be removed to reveal a narrow flap on the front half having a rear surface covered by an adhesive. The envelope is created by removing the lower regions of the front and rear halves from the upper regions at the first perforation, removing the strip of paper defined by the second perforation, wetting the adhesive that is exposed by removal of the narrow horizontal strip of paper, and folding the flap with the glue over a rear surface of the lower region of the rear half of the piece of paper to seal the envelope.

  • Patent number: 6173888
Abstract: A mailing form, including an upper sheet of material adhesively fastened to a lower sheet, is configured for the printing of information on a single side during passage of the form through a non-impact printer. The upper and lower sheets are fastened together permanently at one end, forming a pocket to be used as a return envelope. The portion of the upper sheet which extends away from this pocket is divided into an inner flap, on which information is printed, and an outer flap, which is temporarily fastened to the lower sheet in order to protect an adhesive pattern during the printing process. After the printing process, the outer flap is removed and discarded, the inner flap is folded along lines provided for folding, and the lower sheet is folded on itself to enclose the inner flap. As the adhesive pattern holds the lower sheet shut in this position, address and return address information printed on the inner flap is visible through apertures in the lower sheet, which forms an envelope.

Abstract: A first sheet of large (e.g. 81/2.times.11 inch) size and a second sheet connected by adhesive to the first sheet only at a reply envelope portion, form a mailer type business form. The first sheet is eccentrically Z-folded about fold lines to produce the mailer, with permanent adhesive sealing the panels of the mailer together, the return envelope being disposed within the mailer. Located next to the return envelope inside the mailer, separated by a perforation line, is a reply statement portion having reply statement indicia printed on it. The entire intermediate may be simplex printed because of its eccentric Z-shape configuration.

  • Patent number: 5360160
Abstract: An intermediate, and mailer formed from it, utilize a single sheet to form at least one reply envelope. The sheet is eccentrically C-folded, and preferably two reply envelopes are formed between first and third plies of the mailer. A third reply envelope also can be formed from a second ply of the mailer by a quadrate panel adhesively secured to the bottom face of the second ply. Lines of weakness, such as perforations, allow ready detachment of the sealed edges of the mailer, and separation of the reply envelopes from each other.

  • Patent number: 5346124
Abstract: A return mailer has both the outgoing address and the reply address printed on the top face of the top ply, which with a bottom ply forms both the outgoing and reply envelopes. The reply address is covered by a return receipt having a certified or insured or registered mail number on the top face, and receipt addressee information (substantially the same as the reply address) on the bottom face, or the reply address may be covered by a simple sheet of paper. A perforation intersects the outgoing address area of the top ply, and the bottom ply has a fold line aligned with the perforation to define a return envelope flap, having a sealing agent on the top face. A readily removable insert ply is preferably disposed between the top and bottom plies, and the bottom ply bottom face is devoid of address indicia.

  • Patent number: 5346123
Abstract: A mailer type business form, and intermediate, are constructed from a single sheet of paper having four virtually identically sized panels, the sheet folded about an intermediate fold line, and then two other fold lines, to form a four ply mailer. First and fourth panels of the intermediate define the third and fourth plies of the mailer, and provide a return envelope sealed along three edges and open at the fourth, with a flap provided with a rewettable adhesive strip at the open edge. The second and third panels are held together by longitudinal strips of adhesive adjacent the longitudinal edges of those panels, with perforations provided in the second and third panels (but not the first and fourth panels) to allow removal of the connecting adhesive. The fold lines connecting the first and second panels and third and fourth panels are preferably perforations, and a longitudinal perforation is provided in the second panel to form the statement and reminder portions.

  • Patent number: 5341985
Abstract: The business form assembly includes an integrated mailer and return envelope comprising first, second, third and fourth plies having first, second, third and fourth edges. The first and third edges of the four plies are adhesively secured one to the other. Additional lines of adhesive are inset from a tear strip containing the adhesive securing the first, second, third and fourth plies to one another for securing the second and third plies to one another. The second and third plies are inset along second and fourth edges to enable adhesive securement of the first and fourth plies along the first and fourth edges to one another. A return envelope flap is formed by a fold line in the third ply. A registering line of perforations in the second ply defines the back face of the return envelope and a record-keeping portion between the line of perforations and the fourth edge.

  • Patent number: 5340017
Abstract: A return mailing unit is in the form of a free-standing newspaper advertising insert which includes two end panels and two intermediate panels between the end panels. The intermediate panels are at least partially connected to the end panels by a weakened fold line while the intermediate panels are connected to each other by a non-weakened fold line. One of the end panels is in the form of at least one envelope. The other end panel is divided into two sections with at least one of the sections being completely detachable at its weakened fold line and by a weakened line which divides that end panel in two so that the detachable section could be inserted into an envelope from the other end panel to serve as a return mailing unit. In a variation of the return mailing unit a magazine cover has reply card extensions at both the front and back covers. The reply card extensions are detachable from the covers so as to serve as a return mailing unit.

The back of the second ply is covered by a removable third ply when used as an outgoing mailer. After receipt by the addressee, the first ply is detached along a perforation line on the first face, and a flap on the second ply is folded about a score line to close the reply envelope formed by the remaining part of the top ply and the second ply, and to cover any further outgoing address information visible by viewing the first ply. • Patent number: 5289972
Abstract: A single sheet intermediate for a mailer type business form is Z-folded into a reusable mailer having a return envelope. The Z-folding of the intermediate provides three panels of about the same size, and a cut out covered by a transparent patch may be provided in the second panel, the patch covered by a removable outgoing addressee label. The reply address may be printed on the first face of the third panel of the mailer, or on the first face of the first panel on a detachable portion that may be inserted into the return envelope. The return envelope is defined by a generally U-shaped adhesive pattern, open at one side, with a flap having rewettable adhesive at the open side. Removable strips along the side edges of the mailer are held together by permanent adhesive, and are removed when opening the mailer and using the return envelope. The bar coding and the outgoing postage indicia are detached from the mailer when it is opened so that they are not visible on the return envelope.

  • Patent number: 5288015
Abstract: A mailer with a return envelope is formed from an intermediate which is a single ply of paper having first and second faces. Fold lines divide the ply into four about equal size quadrants with outgoing address indicia printed on the first ply first face, and the reply address indicia printed on the third quadrant first face. Adhesive associated with either the second or fourth ply and the third ply forms the second or fourth and the third ply into a return envelope. The return envelope has a closable flap, having adhesive on the second face, which is adjacent the open portion of the return envelope. Permanent adhesive, such as heat seal adhesive, is disposed in border areas on portions of the second faces of at least two of the quadrants, and on the fourth or third quadrant, to hold the ply into a mailer configuration, folded about the fold lines.
