Publication number: 20100019020Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of preparing a web of flexible material for production of receptacles for packaging. The method comprises the steps of feeding a web of flexible material past a succession of stations in which operations are carried out on the web including defining blanks for receptacles having walls and tabs by creating fold lines in the web, and then laminating a film of heat-sealable plastics materials to a face of the web of the flexible material. The film of heat-sealable plastics provides a heat-sealable surface on the web for bonding tabs of each blank together to form seams between adjacent walls whereby the blanks, when severed from the web, can be erected to form receptacles having openings to receive items to be packaged.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2007Publication date: January 28, 2010Applicant: RAPID ACTION PACKAGING LIMITEDInventors: Quang Tien Phung, Fernanda Costa Pereira, Julian David Kyrle Money

Publication number: 20090139888Abstract: A dispensing device package including a protective enclosure containing a dispensing device, e.g. an inhaler. The protective enclosure includes at least one rigid enclosure member, which in some implementations defines a recess to house a section of the dispensing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2008Publication date: June 4, 2009Inventors: Simon Berry, Len Brookhouse

Publication number: 20090072014Abstract: A system and method for producing waterproof corrugated boards and containers. A technique for waterproofing paper coats the paper with resin, uses non-wicking medium, and creates waterproofed corrugated boards using an adhesive that is compatible relative to the resin used to make the medium non-wicking. The adhesive should also be water resistant or waterproof. Containers made with waterproofed corrugated boards withstand being exposed to wet contents.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2008Publication date: March 19, 2009Inventor: Robert Von Felden

Patent number: 7311955Abstract: A laminated paperboard package is produced by initially printing graphics by high speed printing on a sheet of clay-coated publication paper. The printed paper is then continuously applied to a surface of cellulosic substrate and bonded to the substrate, preferably through use of starch as an adhesive, to provide a laminated product. The laminated product is then die cut to the desired shape, folded and glued into the configuration of a box or container. A layer of water absorbent, cellulosic fiber material can be bonded to the inner surface of the substrate to prevent moisture from the contained product from seeping outwardly through the substrate to the printed paper.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2000Date of Patent: December 25, 2007Assignee: The Hoffman GroupInventor: Roger P. Publication number: 20070284425Abstract: The present invention relates to a bank and a gable top carton constructed therefrom. The blank comprises a plurality of panels having top portions. The top portions of the plurality of panels are cooperated with one another to define a gable top. The plurality of panels are consecutively articulated to one another along parallel fold lines. At least one of the plurality of panels includes a fluorescent whitening agent on all or a portion of an inner surface of the top portion of the at least one panel. The top portion of the at least one panel glow when subjected to a black light.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2006Publication date: December 13, 2007Inventor: John Raymond Garvey

Patent number: 7005035Abstract: A packaging device and method for absorbing and reducing moisture as well as a manufacturing process for such device. The packaging device is a container made from paperboard such as containerboards or linerboards with a corrugated medium. The paperboard is insulated with moisture absorbing additives comprising charcoal, activated charcoal, activated carbon, or substances mostly comprised of carbon. Perforations may be added in the boards to further permit moisture to reach the corrugated medium, permitting further absorption by the additives embedded within the corrugated medium in between the boards. This packaging device and method is favorable for storing or transporting objects which are sensitive to or would benefit from low moisture/humidity conditions.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2004Date of Patent: February 28, 2006Inventors: Kevin J. Patent number: 6919111Abstract: An improved paperboard has been bulk enhanced by retaining a substantial portion of bulk-enhanced additives including expandable microspheres in a suitable distribution within the paperboard. The cellulosic paperboard web has an overall fiber weight (w) of at least 40 lbs. per 3000 square feet and, at a fiber density of 3, 4.5, 6.5, 7, 8.3, and 9 pounds per 3000 square foot ream at a fiberboard thickness of 0.001 inches, has a GM Taber stiffness of at least about 0.00246 w2.63 grams-centimeter/fiber mat density1.63, and a GM tensile stiffness of at least about 615+13.18 w pounds per inch. The high retention of the bulk enhancing additives is believed to result from the incorporation of suitable retention aids. The resulting paperboard has better GM Taber stiffness values and GM tensile stiffness than prior art paperboards. The paperboard also has increased strain to failure and is able to be formed into suitable paperboard containers without loss of integrity.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2002Date of Patent: July 19, 2005Assignee: Fort James CorporationInventors: Dean P.
